200k player loss after the 10th of March patch

It’s been two days of constant complaints on the forums, on reddit and on Twitch and Youtube about the abhorrent upgrade path to 1370 and in the most recent ‘Top Issues’ news post these issues that were garnering thousands of views on the forums were not even mentioned in the “we’re looking into this” section.

Quite literally dismissing people’s complaints that we’re playing the worst version out of all the versions this game has had over the years KR/JP/RU so it’s not a surprise that a good portion of the playerbase has quit.

P.S. Before someone says "oh they were all bots. There was no significant dip last time they had a ‘huge bot ban wave’ meaning the bots were playing with Steam in offline mode so they were not showing up on steamcharts and besides this bot ban wave doesn’t seem to have worked very well, all you have to do is go to Luterra to confirm that.

this is what happens when the company only cares about the money and marketing. not the players.

just to be clear editing:
I love this game. I play a lot. hope every free to play is enjoying this game.

They said the “ban wave” was not immediately they said they will ban team slowly, but that being said im pretty sure some ppl quit, they were mad cuz of the argos update and they will be mad when Valtan and the other legion comanders release cuz of the high ilvl req :x

Go to Loghill if you want to see if the flood of bots has stopped. Luterra is the hub for the sellers not the grinders (except for when they pass through)

Fully expected like any MMO to drop in population.

It will drop more too because people will realize this game isn’t for them and that’s okay.

Ideal population was 200k to begin with and was hoping to stabilized 60k is the goal for Gold River anyways

The ‘normal’ player loss was occurring since release and you can follow the chart for that. It was losing about 10-20k players a week. 10 times that loss in a single day is not ‘fully expected’

Those people were gonna quit anyways, you think increasing honing by 20% will save them?

Wait till they get to 1% enhancements like in KR.

You guys worry too much about others. Just play the game or quit

LOL. Great logic. Why don’t we just ban everyone that’s in T1 right now because they’re not gonna make it to end game anyways and while we’re at it, let’s lower the 14-15 to 1% to keep the ‘real players’ playing.

That’s gonna be a great, financially brilliant idea.

It’s amazing that any mmo would release on steam. Nobody knows what a healthy mmo has for concurrent players is. How many does wow or ff14 have? Nobody knows. Why do we do this?

I can tell you never played this game in any other version. If you think 20% is going to help these players in the long run, you’re in for a rude awakening.

You are aware it drops below 10% to 1% later right? Even in KR?

First of all I didn’t even propose a 20% honing chance increase, I think that’s stupid.

And the below 1% chances that you’re talking about are so much farther down the line where it doesn’t matter, you’re farming 10-20 rolls a day worth of mats, you have the entire week to do so much content and work on all your alts where it doesn’t feel like you’re logging on doing your dailies, rolling twice and being forced off your main to do alts.

Yea it’s more mats because the enhancements at the higher level require more also.

You’re still going to be buying mats or slaving away on alts. This game is meant to be played with alts and I’m certain that majority of the population hate playing that way.

I’m not saying that this makes the game fun, most people hate playing on alts but this is just the reality of how the game is designed. It’s not for everyone and that’s okay

You have now moved the goalpost on a different pitch entirely my guy. This is so far off topic.

One day and you want to make statement? Obviously you never worked with data. Show us weekly averages over 3 months and we can talk.
And please show us the player development in Korea in comparison for us to see how much better SG handelt the things.

Why did people even leave after the patch?
I am still doing my stuffs same as before the patch (Chaos, Mokoko, Continents 100% completition, Islands etc).
This patch doesnt concern me at all since i am not planning to get 1370 ilvl and play argos with pug, way too hard.

The game’s been out for a month what the fuck are you on about? At this rate of loss there will not be a playerbase in 2 months. Why are so many people like you adamant about defending a clearly unpopular patch that only takes away from the experience?

It’s New World all over again with people white knighting the game on reddit and the forums.

Well there was an assumption that the March patch would make T1 and T2 progress way easier and T3 progress would be sped up. None of those things came true.

Combine that with Youtubers and Twitch streamers making videos about the game’s descent into p2w territory a lot of people became disillusioned with game, they don’t want to invest any more time into something that’s not gonna feel rewarding.

Exactly my point. You begin to understand. There is no “at this rate…”. One day you even might understand that criticising you for being wrong is not defending AGS.

Might be a bit too early to say but I feel like this patch alienated a lot of ~1340 people like me that put in a lot of work to get there and that are now forced to do mediocre dailies & an easy abyssal dungeon until 1370. Hope that they take this as a warning and don’t do the same mistake again.

Making statements such as “show us 3 month weekly average data then we can talk” is starting the conversation with an impossible premise. It’s intellectual dishonesty.

So yes you absolutely are dick riding and defending them by asking that.

If you were actually fair and honest you would’ve looked at the data we currently have that shows a 10-20k average daily player loss and compared it to the 10x that happened on march 11th.
