Those measures are separate from the 3 day gold hold, but as bot pops continue to decrease we definitely do want to revisit some of these restrictions that are negatively impacting real players
Yeye i know, i can live with a 3 days hold period. But i think everyone that still play this game had enough about all the time you have to waste around AH to do your things
Glad to hear it’s working! But what I am wondering is why is this method not more prevalent in other Steam games. What are others doing right? The solution has to come from a coding perspective or something related to the inherent lack of security in this game, given that it’s made for Korean audiences that have their social security number as their fail-safe against these bad actors, as you call them.
So, why doesn’t Smilegate work on the deeper security issues instead of doing something super backward that no other game that I know or heard of has done? While it deters bad actors it also makes people think twice and can’t act on impulse buying which is really the backbone of a heavy RNG gated game.
Unfortunately having our game be a vector for fraud has negative impacts on us as well; it’s not a good position to be in to provide easy options for committing stolen credit card fraud. Players absolutely should enable 2FA and make sure their accounts are as secure as possible, but we don’t want to leave paths open for this kind of behavior, either.
and why do you not enforce different levels of trusted status on players?
nothing speaks against players who regularly swipe and never had any frauds on their steam account, have 2FA enabled, use a secure payment method they used before - like paypal and various other measurements to have certain limits removed from their accounts like 3 day hold or auction house limits.
There is plenty of reasonable metrics you can use to put user accounts into certain brackets which lift certain ingame restrictions over time.
This is just lazy development and just ends up hurting the entire playerbase cuz there are a few bad apples out there.
We asked for this stuff since months already and constantly only get the same response instead of you guys trying to find a solution for us.
It is just frustrating simply hearing the same “we hear you but we won’t do shit but we will keep monitoring it” for months and months for something that SHOULD have been in the game already at the very first implementation of these restrictions.
Why was it not done properly? Because AGS wanted restrictions on players FAST and a proper implementation would have taken smilegate more time?

I honestly think this is a valid position to have. I can’t help but believe there is something AGS could do to remove this 3 day hold for 90+ % of players.
Well Amazon enforced 2FA, so old+2FA+trusted should be more than enough reason to allow it for those players. On top of that you could have an ilevel requirement (1500 or so). It’s funny that only Amazon is plagued with these issues to this extent, all when it’s not even a great game to spend real money on outside of skins.

Is the AGS team not aware that it’s losing a large amount of real players at the same time as “bot populations are decreasing”?
If this is to be taken seriously, it would imply that every other game of the same type on the market is a vector for fraud by not having this or a similar measures(which they don’t). I understand you doing your job to try to rationalize the company’s terrible decisions in the eyes of the community, but the 3 day hold is bad. Everyone knows this and are affected by it. This is not the solution to curb fraudulent behavior, it’s lazy and shows that the team at AGS have no idea of the impact of the changes/restrictions they add to the game despite significant feedback from the community, which at this point it appears is likely not actually received by any of the Lost Ark teams or is vetoed by someone ignorant and/or with ill intentions…
I would suggest you advise the team to take reference from other games on the market as opposed to continuing with this addition of mechanics and restrictions that only serve to decrease the real player population of the game. No one(?) benefits from the current consistent decline of the game’s real ccu.

This is nonsense. The core system was already changed. They have the manpower and money to make the changes and reverting them would not be a more difficult task given the nature of the change.
Yea, they could easily buy blizzard. The question is why they don’t change anything…
Lets be honest here, Amazon and co. decided to use the worse decisions to fight the bots, which affected a good chunk of the player base which they mostly lost when they started removing gold from everywhere.
I am sure in some exec’s head they are thinking “This is good now they will buy the gold from us muhahahahaha”
The 3 day hold is annoying unnecessarily so, if an account has purchased with a card on Steam for games, dlc, wallet top up, then if no fraud in the last 14 days+ then they should be trusted for the gold to be delivered and used immediately.
Bottom line West devs are lazy, don’t want to put in good measures against bots (typo test like Vykas when entering specific dungeons - so bots can’t proceed with story line to leave Luterra on boats). Hardware IDs for login checks so they don’t match known bot ID’s (Yes I know there is apps out there to spoof your ID, but there is also ways to bypass that too), so in the end good players end up suffering. Their player base count since I played way back in June 22 to now is much much less.
