I’d say it’s all the new / returning players but … yeah.
To be very honest I don’t know why they still have any value. I’ve not bought an Epic book from the market in I cannot remember how long. The game used to force feed you bags of books back with like the Narumi race event.
I suppose a few key engravings will spike with class releases, or perhaps we’re underestimating how far behind some players may still be.
The only reason I don’t have every engraving maxed out to Epic isn’t because of Epic books, it’s because of uncommon and rare books.
The ONLY ones I dont have are classes I dont ever plan on playing. But all of the combat books like Grudge, All Out Attack, Precise, KBW, i will almost guarentee you that MOST top end players have these at +9 already since the books were all <40g which made it 800g to get a full 20 banger on.
just stop please, if they did the books wouldnt have market value which they CLEARLY have.

I didnt need the pheons either that they sent me and I didnt need to spend them but they said I could and so I did and yolod them on ability stones and got absolutely nothing from it and ended up at -106 and having to pay myself out of something I never needed. Stop taking yourself as proof, the market shows the reality and that is that these books have value to the average player.
I’m just saying the impact (eac offline) of them not meddling around trying to claw these back and probably breaking someone worse is far less than the Pheon Mess.
Those who will benefit most from this are new/returning players and good, those people need some kinda break.
Minimal value, because epic books will certainly not complete an endgame build. Its just a temporary stopgap for buying into legendary books so they should be cheap as it stands.
Purple books have market value, yes but not to the VALUES your pointing out. Any veteran player right now, these books if they had 720 of them would have almost NO VALUE since they are NOT sellable and they already have brought the books prior thus these books don’t help them as they already have all teh books they need. What value do they pose when you can’t use them.
For the new player, the new player doesn’t need 720 books. They need the 20 fo teh class they are using and maybe 80 for 4 engravings for options. Congrats on the benefit for the new player (everyone keeps talking that new players need benefits). I dont care if the new player just saved several thousand gold on these books, its a good thing for them.
But established players get little value out of the books since they will already have most of the good ones and only need the class ones for any new class they are running. And you still only get 20 of that book value, NOT 720.
Since the books are BOUND and unsellable, they do little to affect the market of the books. Sure a few people probably dont have to buy books they need again but books are so cheap and you only need 20 of them ever means very little value actually.
PHEONS on the other hand DO affect the market. If you just gave everyone 60 pheons, people are going to use these pheons to BUY accessories off the market. The two are not comparable.

Even if you use you a fourth of the books you got on a top 30 engraving you havent had you add about 15k gold value to your account which is equivalent to 70 pheons on EUC.
And stop this non-sensical argument that one thing affects the economy and one doesn’t. Especially when one is an actually traded item and the other is nothing but an artificial flat tax that isn’t even traded.
Why even fix this if this was so meaningless?
Save everyone time, let everyone enjoy the mistake and done. No they live fixed it so you couldnt even open the box at all anymore just to get the engraving for your express boosted character that you may have needed for raiding that day.
How many reapers were forced to buy 20 books at 300g per or more to get their class engraving to play before they finally fixed the box?
I am complaining about the krass double standard they are applying to these things.
if you make a mistake like this fix it so nobody benefits more than others or dont fix it at all and let everyone benefit the same.
The only real fix to the pheon situation was to deduct them and then sent the full value of the deduction again to all characters after they fixed this supposed “exploit” so nobody goes into minus.
But it is obvious they didnt do it because that affects their bottom line, they’d rather make us pay for their mistake.
We would not even have needed any maintenance for the negative pheon people not being able to use the market or the engraving box. Saving us the entire additional maintenances if they just owned their mistakes.
giving one person 800 epic books and another person 20 epic books isn’t right, that is a fair argument, especially if you remove player progression and just assume lots of people still need the books.
Most people just don’t care because it’s basically giving them 800 paperweights and they don’t want AGS poking around trying to fix it and end up setting everyone to -400 engravings or something.
Just to be clear, you are limited to 2 engravings.
I do not have 840 or even the 40 books as I haven’t made a character yet.
I have pages of inventory on one character filled with purple books i am not using.
Only some purple books matter, yeah they have level 2 grudge, cursed doll etc. They are not gold books, otherwise it would matter.
