9 out of 10 player Calculated Stronghold Crafting Profit Wrongly

I think they do it because

  1. They want to get stronghold experience with crafting items
  2. They don’t know they are lossing gold because they haven’t seen this post :joy:

The only item I craft right now is Basic Oreha Fusion right now.

The mats are basically free as I just need to dig 5 times, get the mini game bonus and I can make 2-3 of those easily.

They sell up quickly aswell. I make around 10-15 gold in total for the entire batch of 30. But the main profit comes in when instead of getting 30 through crafting I get double as rng. That’s when I make a decent buck.

you just enlightened me to update the calculator. I’ll see what I can do with this piece of info

that was my question since forever my friend. they don’t only crush the prices and ruin the profit.
some literally sell for like half the production cost :joy:
i saw some dumb jebait youtubers on how to make gold … telling people to craft and sell, while giving wrong 1st grade math, forgetting to add the crafting cost which is like 80-95% of the total cost. and they say easy money LOL.
even the 2x production chance doesn’t surpass 5% maybe

Updated the guide:

  1. Added great success rate
  2. Reorganised the calculation steps for easy understanding
  3. Updated the calculator, now can select the great success rate.

Mats cost 0. If the craft requiere fish they fish

Mats always have a cost.

The most basic is your time. If the mats are a side benefit, such as doing a guild weekly, leveling the skill, or you just enjoy the activity. Then the cost is mitigated but not eliminated. Additionally there is the fact that if you can make more per time unit with a different activity then just buy the materials that can be more efficient as well.

The next level is the market value of the mats vs the market value of the product. If something takes 100 fish to make (ignoring the crafting cost/time) and sells for 5gold but 100 fish sell for 20 gold. You actively lose money by crafting the item instead of selling the fish and buying the item.

“I farmed it so it was free” is one of the worst mentalities and bad advice to have and give if you care about creating value. If you don’t … well then this whole topic isn’t really for you in the first place is it? And that isn’t a bad thing nor intended as an insult. Not every activity or interest will appeal to every person.

Yeah but they are loosing a part of it.
If you start with just enough gold to craft you can fish and craft.
You are right he would be loosing the opportunity of a better income but he will increase his gold too just at slower pace.

Instead of selling fish at a lower price he just lower the oreha fusion material price.

Agreed, nothing is free. Some players have little time to play the game every day, I think it’s important for them to know how to farm gold efficiently. Especially with this passive stronghold crafting farm method.

mats don’t cost 0. when u calculate profite u r compairing ur profit from crafting vs ur profit from selling raw mats.

It’s not literal 0 cost but you can sell cheaper crafted materials and still gain some gold.
Is not like fishing crafting and selling cheaper than fish gives you negative gold. It gives you less gold but it gives you.

For 0 mats cost i meaned they fished instead of buying

my friend selling raw materials gives u more gold 90% of the time. few craftables that actually gives u actual profit

thats a nice Website/tool right there, i really apreciated it ! im pretty sure if u add like a Patreon support link or something like that people will support your work  atleast i will be 100% one of them
Thank you very much !

Edit: im not very good at math tbh, but shouldn’t there be a formula as well if you buying energy potions with blue crystals that u bought with Gold? correct me if im mistaken. (also sorry for my bad english, i hope u still understand me let me know if not  )

Edit2:
To explain it better I’ll try with an example

if im currently 0 Life Energy and im gonna buy some Life energy Potions that costs Bluecrystals/gold and all that stuff that i got like this shouldn’t there be a formula that takes this into it ? to recalculate the real profit

wow that’s some next level calculation. I have an article explaining how to calculate the cost of mari’s shop items here:

After understanding that should help you do the calculation.

Thanks for sharing this, very well done! I hadn’t payed attention to the ‘effects’ screen so I’m happy to discover that.

It’s amazing that people can make it this far into the game and not realize that they are spam selling at a loss. The ship parts market is in the process of being destroyed by $2 sales. If they were $1 you could buy them and move them to $3, if they were $3 they would be profitable. I assumed this would happen when I crafted some yesterday, I can unload at $1 for a trivial loss if needed.

Also, the other day someone posted about how the Lost Ark market is stealing gold from them. They provided “proof”, which was actually just proof that they don’t understand how the market works.

Worth mentioning that this tends to be the case on every single game with crafting/player driven economy. The raw material / previous tier will always be worth more than its sum or crafting result

lost ark crafting is a scam if you don’t know what you’re doing, will be a better title for this article. haha

And now the market for ship materials is officially selling for a loss - as are all the other markets - simple oreha is getting most of it’s sales on $8 now, avg price was 8.4. Can’t even make it work if you do know what you are doing.

i would like to see on your website a way to submit the crafting cost on the stronghold. So less crafting cost means more profit

Most of the stuff sold on my server is 20-30% cheaper than crafting them myself. So what I do is sell all the gatherables used to craft what I want to buy and then buy the item off of the AH. Heck they even sell the oreha mats at a 10-20% loss … I dont understand it. If the target is to level up the stronghold, better to craft the structures that cost silver and/or send more dispatch on special missions.
