You think like that because you don’t own a game studio or own a game that generates revenue for you.
It doesn’t matter at all actually. I have managed a game server with P2W features. People who break the rules knowingly even though they have hundreds of dollars spent in our P2W shop had got banned immediately by managing team upon discovery. And game owners couldn’t care less. Matter of fact, majority of them came back and spend money again and never break rules again. Even if they leave, good riddance. That made our other players happy and inclined to spend even more on our game because now they trust us more. Also It wasn’t even close to the scale of Lost Ark. it had around 900-1000 concurrent players.
I really don’t know why they can’t ban RMT people 3-6months. If they wanted to whale they should have done it through cash shop. RMT benefits no one, especially not AGS/Smilegate.
Oh but they complained for weeks. Outrageous comments demands. And lies. Oh the lies. I couldn’t explain how many lies I’ve encountered during that time of my life. Even we were amazed at people throwing untrue statements out there. Every single person that got manually banned, lied first. And the funny part is we have all the data in front of us, whatever they claim we can just post the proof of them lying. It’s very easy actually to manage PR. You as a game owner have a bigger audience than that lying player, always. Players want to believe you first than that angry player. And when you issue a statement with actual data, no matter how loud they are, they just aren’t credible anymore so the outcome is always positive.
Ahh yes, making something illegal stops activities in their tracks. Just like drugs ammirite.
No, okay seriously. What you are saying sounds cool, but how are they gonna catch RMT without false positives? There are many interesting ways people can make payments to each other, and they can just make them in smaller increments.
How do you know that the relic who was sold on AH for 100K is RMT or not? You cannot really do that without extensive analyse per case basis. Nobody is gonna do that.
It only seems obvious right now because they do it without pheon, but if they have to, they will bear the pheon price.
Imagine a customer who is regularly going into a supermarket who brings 300 cats with him. Those cats shit money which he uses to buy a few small things. Meanwhile the cats block the door, so no other customer can come in. They also stink, so that all other customers leave the supermarket instantly and forever.
Would you let this customer stay or would give him shop ban?
It’s actually so much simpler. It’s about percentages. If a high enough percentage of RMT are punished with gold removal + temp ban the problem will go away. AGS doesn’t want to perma ban spenders, they want to convert them to spending on the shop. Nobody would RMT if there was a high chance of being caught. The fact is the chance is so insanely small or you would see a lot more people complaining on the forums (claiming a false positive), discord, guilds, etc.
They need to be more aggressive and punish a higher percentage. They could permaban at their current rate of punishment and nothing would change. Too few are caught.
They only use the lazy cast a wide net approach that doesn’t take them effort. The bots will be back again in a few days and then in a couple of weeks they can do it again and say they did something.
