yeah that’s pretty sad… i really hope things will be different on release since it’s still a couple of months away. maybe they think twice and fix it before it’s too late
I never post on forums… but I have been looking forward to Lost Ark for years! The game seemed perfect because every part of it just worked together. RU version was fantastic with English patch. Now, seeing this, I am seriously considering trying to get a refund. The outfit changes I have seen are just… I don’t even have words! It’s been said before/above me. The art style of the characters, how they looked in each outfit, it just flowed perfectly with the game. The looks weren’t even “bad” compared to most games out there or what you see on regular prime time TV. I am just so speechless, I am devastated. AGS will not care about my comment, but this has been my most devastating game news in my 30 year gaming history. They had 1 job…please let this be a nightmare we are about to wake up from.

Sadly Amazon cares more about catering to puritanical views than they do about adhering to the original look and vision of the game as it was made by Smilegate. They are going to westernize the hell out of the NA/EU version of Lost Ark and ruin what is essentially a perfect game. They had only one job and that was to localize it but instead they decided to shove politics and leftist ideals into the game and in turn ruin it for a lot of people.

From censorship to literally removing character customization options (and poorly altering them) to fit western audience for whatever reason instead of adding more? And then completely butchering names (not just npcs but skills etc) and changing how npcs look, is this not insulting to the original?
You have all this time to revert these unnecessary changes and as I’ve said countless times to actually fix the bugs. Going forward with amazon’s vision is looking terrible.
All we need is some proper clarity and for Amazon to not change things like RU and JP did. Unnecessary. Localise, change certain monetization and add the quality of life from the KR server and such…

Hey, just to add to this topic, below you can find screenshots of freshly created characters of every class in RU. As you can see, they were all still in Trixion and without any gear. I’m too lazy to compare with what we have here, so feel free to do so.

Linking a bit to another post I’ve made, I’m totally against REMOVING features from the game, especially if it is already developed and you have evidence your customers are willing to pay money for it. That objectively makes it worse. Improve the product by ADDing more OPTIONS. Shuffling stuff should be fine, but I understand the current fear because Roxx’ last statement is unfortunately lacking details. For example, when/where/how can the other outfits be obtained?
Finally, please remember that the CM’s are employees and they need to follow some “rules” to keep their jobs. That includes taking some time to properly disclose some “work-in-progress” information. For them it is a delicate situation, so by all means make your (our) needs heard, but be respectful. If you must, blame AGS, not the CM’s.

So I took a look through the gallery you linked. With regards to the female characters… the Gunner is the only one whose starting armor is the same from the RU version to the NA/EU version. The starting armor for the Martial Artist, Assassin, and Mage are completely different.
While I do think that the NA/EU version of the Assassin looks better than the RU version, it’s absolutely shameful that they changed and got rid of the Martial Artist starting armor. The female one fits the theme of the class significantly better than the western European knight armor that Amazon decided to implement in its place. As for the Mage… I like both the RU and NA/EU versions of the starting armor… they’re similar enough in appearance that the overall look of the starting armor falls roughly in the same aesthetic/overall look for their starting armor.
I’m not sure about the male outfits… someone else will have to comment on those.
Edit: Some additional comments about the female starting armor that has been changed:
- Martial Artist: The NA/EU Starting Armor is a completely unacceptable change in my opinion. It does fit the class aethestic and leans far too heavily into Western European knights when the class itself is Far Eastern in theme and aesthetic. This should absolutely be reverted back and changed to the starting armor of the RU version.
- Assassin: The NA/EU version of the Assassin Starting Armor is unique and very elaborate compared to the RU version. Another thing to note is that the RU version of the starting armor is actually an armor set that the Assassin does pick up and wear for a few levels.
- Mage: The NA/EU version of the Mage Starting Armor wears a pair of stockings on their legs while the chest piece is much more elaborate/ornate than the RU version.
Having said all that… if Amazon reverts Martial Artist’s starting armor I’ll be a bit more accepting and happy with the changes even though Assassin and Mage have different starting armor sets.

Male Gunner and Warrior are literally the same, idk about Male Martial Artist.
I prefer the Assassin we have here, seems more elaborate indeed. Mage, I’m on the fence, I prefer RU/KR slight more, but what we have here is still ok. But damn, Female Martial Artist here is terrible lol, I had checked only the previews. Change that ASAP AGS please.

The Assassin and Mage starting armor changes at least fit aesthetically with the class. The Martial Artist one on the other hand makes zero sense. If we were talking about knights in shining armor as the class I’d completely understand but we’re not.

Yes, totally agree. Martial Artist initial gear seems so out of place it looks like it belongs to another class.
Looks like amazon is gonna remove raid boss biakiss.
So we are having the North Korea&China version of Lost Ark.
Shes literally in game with her entire storyline, I have played it.
Stop spreading misinformation like a russian bot account.
It was probably a cheap way to make fun of Amazon and their version of LoA, he didn’t say they removed the raid boss, only implied they’ll have to remove it if they wanna keep up their current standards.

The censorship is really upsetting. I wish/hope Amazon Games realizes that having both the original and the censored one is the best solution. Having more options means more people are likely to spot an outfit they like/want to buy. It’d be good for the players and good for the company.

i’m still wondering how long it’ll take them before replying to this thread with any explanation. hopefully soon enough because if they don’t do that at all. it’ll be hard to decide what to do in that case. give an explanation on what we should expect on release when it comes to censorship to make people either like it or hate it. personally i’m refunding as soo as they confirm they’ll keep things censored but them being silent about it doesn’t make it any better either… say anything to make me choose to either refund or wait for release thanks…
That’d be the perfect solution to the clothing “problem”, but sadly that won’t work for the recolored/remodelled npcs. 
Yeah true. I at least want the Korean outfits for our character as well as the censored ones.
of course they won’t be sold as much as the hot ones. only the minority want’s that kind of stuff. bland is the word i’m looking for… and you’ll see how bad it’ll become since they won’t by any means make money out of selling these outfits. i spent hundreds of dollars on each class i had in RU and i wasn’t even going to keep playing there cause i was waiting for EU release and yet i spent that much on outfits there. i swear i’ve never seen such a dumb decision like this “Westernized bullcrap” and censorship in a rated M for Mature. a game that’s not made for sensitive kids whatsoever. i’m so pissed over this

It is most likely that nothing will change or even a reply will happen, unfortunately.
Nowdays unless a big streamer or known person in the gaming scene picks up the topic or help spread the info, it will slowly fade away without ever being brought to light.
Most new players will play the game blindly without ever knowing that it’s an alternative to the devs original vision of the product.
