Roxx can’t talk about things she is not allowed to talk to, and she’s not in a position to influence the outcome of development outside providing feedback and being a bridge between the higher ups at Amazon and us. I expected 100% “I can’t comment further” honestly. It’s not like we had a dev or game designer interview. This was about feedback.
I still don’t understand Amazon’s reasoning for changing the starting armor of the female classes. It’s not like they are sheltering you from all the “racy” and sexy/skimpy/slutty outfits in the game since you end up with those as soon as you are past the prologue. And their whole answer of the original outfits being available as a drop also does not address the issue at hand. That issue being the forced change of the female character’s base default look (the one with no equipment on). What I and many others want is that if our character has no equipment on that we have the same base default look as characters in the KR/RU version of the game, not the censored look.
Edit: While I’m happy that the original outfits are still in the game, this is a change just for the sake of change and censorship. And it only applies to female characters… not male characters. Why were the females signaled out? Does Amazon think we should only have sexy males at the start and that sexy females from the start are not allowed? Because that’s the impression I get from the forced change that they undertook regarding the starting outfits.
I was talking about amazon overall. I dont know such Roxxy, but if she cant say something because they said she can’t, then she should say she can’t talk about it, like you said. (she chould also say we will have boots for women coughs)
I still dont understand. its a +18 game. censoring somethin +18 is… And I m not very fond of erotic/oversexualize content, but im all agaisnt censoring a mature game. this isnt right. They should speak clear about it, we are all grown up, them included.
Because it isn’t about the age. Has nothing to do “this is a mature game”. It has everything to do with woke U.S. politics. Censorship has been on the rise for many years in the U.S. now. They are your parents, and they will force you to their morals.
Nightsong & Yusol, I’m 100% with you. And with having more options of course. Censorship is not something you want in a democratic country no matter the reason, I stand by this by principle more than anything. I also like art and its lesser forms unaltered.
My take is they didn’t want to see the FFXIV comment “this is a weeb game” become “this is a fetish / sex / whatever game” when your average new gamer joe gets into it or sees the website. I’m not saying it makes sense. It doesn’t in my book.
Yeah, this is what I thought, exactly.
Thats why im ok with them changing 1 gear tutorial (but not naked model looking full armor), and also ok-and totally agree- upon changin the way the game is advertised.
but censoring +18 game is absurd. They should give more options for people like us to have “rp” outfits that fits the game’s story, without changin the rest of the stuffs, idk its pretty easy to do it right.
That’s the issue though. The censored starting armor only shelters those average new gamer joes for the prologue. As soon as they are out into the game itself you are right back to sexy and slutty attire to the point that you could classify Lost Ark as a borderline sex game with how some outfits have the females tits or ass hanging out. So why change it? You’re not going to get away from that borderline sex game mentality unless you censor and change every single outfit in the game and ensure that tits and ass are covered up everywhere. And if you do that then you might as well cancel the western release as you would piss off so many players with that level of censorship.
And don’t forget the cash-shop that you can open and use to check all outfits sold. That’s why I said it didn’t make sense in my book. It’s a korean game. Adding a new sauce to your hamburgers is fine, but trying to advertise caviar and oysters is ridiculous.
you dont have to censor everything, you just have to give new gear options for people that doesnt want that kinda outfits constantly. And that doesnt take someone 4 months to do it…
both group can coexist without any issue since its just outfits.
Yup… I don’t mind new outfits. But we are getting new starting armor at the expense of the old one with Amazon’s bandaid fix being that you can still acquire the original starting gear as a white drop. All while completely missing the fact that the base default look being changed is the point of contention for many players.
The only issue I have with the new outfits is the same with some of the NPC changes, some make sense thematically and are done well, and others… well not so much. You can tell they are not “Fruit Bowling” the starter skins just looking at the Magician starting armor change, the other classes changes just don’t make sense for the class that it’s supposed to be representing.
To me, what scare the most, it’s if they will go to censor more then just outfit.
What if they think a skill and its animation need to be censored? What if this the real reason about not have Arcana and Destroyer at release?
Looking at the “change” they made to NPCs and starting outfits, they don’t feel like Slimegate had done it, but an AGS team or an external one.
This video by Divium Furor (Lost Ark West : Censored & Bl@cked - YouTube) made me remember that modding online games is not unheard of and that we do have the “english patch” that injects mostly machine translated text into RU, KR and JP.
It might take a few weeks/months after release, but we will most likely see fan patches to inject KR/JP voiceovers and also to revert some of these uh… unasked for changes. Of course, due to licensing/legal reasons this will never be officially supported, so do your own research when the time comes.
Not gonna lie, I’m really sad to use this as copium to roll with AGS, but I want the lower ping. Honestly, it isn’t just about outfits, censor this or that, but about changing the original too much. Check this for example: Why changing major name? @Roxx
I see your stance but “There is” is should be applied to both. As such - if there is revealing options there should be non-revealing options for both
I don’t mind censoring for both if there is an option for un-censored again for both
Anyway, I hope at least that they will learn and make it better fo all to enjoy and be happy.
This is what they promised and I hope they will follow their words. “Nothing is set on stone” is not however a good way to show the veracity of their previous statement.
Add content? yes, Amazon be praised. delete content to inject own content? Nope.
I know im repeating this over and over but… All I really want is boots option for my females
I dislike heels
On this note, the issue is that they’re adding their own content over the original content, that is the actual problem here.
No one is against more options, what people are against is those new options taking priority over the original.
A way of avoiding this type of controversy altogether for example would’ve been to keep the default unequipped skin the same as on KR/ RU and then make the new starting gear these new models.
That way they’re not a permanent change forced on you, they’re a temporary addition by Amazon that won’t change anything long term.
The problem that we end up now with now is that the female Gunner as an example looks like she is wearing endgame gear or a store skin when she has no gear on.
Not to mention that she actually has her original KR/ RU unequipped when you first create her, but for some reason it changes after you begin the prologue?
If you look at the Male Gunner next to the Female Gunner when they both have no gear on the Female Gunner looks like she is in endgame gear next to the ‘’ naked ‘’ Male Gunner it makes no actual sense at all.
Same with the Martial Artist who looks like she is wearing full plate as a Knight while the male counterpart looks like a Martial Artist with no gear on.
And even if we go back to the Gunner and use this intent of trying to hide skin.
When you exit the first area and begin the prologue she gets her starting gear which is short shorts and a bra, but then if you take it off she is suddenly wearing a full suit with a jacket that again looks like endgame gear.
How does that make any sense at all?
It also worries me that they will do this even more later on, that we will have to go out of way to track down the original gear because Amazon will instead shove their ‘’ new gear ‘’ on us over the original gear in KR/ RU.
My overall point here, if they want to create new options those should be the side options they should not override and replace rewards and force us to go and hunt down the original.
The original gear should not be the ‘’ other option ‘’, Amazons new stuff should be.
I think that this is the biggest problem and I think that if you look at the pics I provided here it becomes VERY obvious. Male and female character issue ( pics ), and a solution
Weirdly enough Female Gunner actually starts with her KR/ RU default but it changes when you exit and begin the prologue.
But note how at the start Male and Female Gunner looks like their unequipped actually makes sense and is consistent?
Sure the Female version is more revealing, but the overall fashion design of it are the same with the white and brown and cowboy/ mechanic style.
Then look at what happens after you exit the trial area.
Suddenly when she has no gear on she looks like she is wearing full black suit endgame gear/ or a store skin.
It becomes very bizarre when you put her in that next to the Male Gunner, the Male Gunner still retains that cowboy/ mechanic style but the Female character looks like she is in a store skin/ endgame armor.
What makes the Female Gunner even more bizarre with their ‘’ new direction ‘’ here is that her starting gear is short shorts and a bra, but then when you unequipp she suddenly looks like she just hit the endgame.
There just simply is no logic behind this, even if someone is okay or even supports these ‘’ changes ‘’ you’d have to admit it makes no sense.
Same with Martial Artist, the Female character just perpetually looks like a fully armored Knight.
The Male character actually looks like he is a Martial Artist with no gear on.
The Female one in KR/ RU actually looks way more like it fits her overall gear direction too with the Chinese dress.
On our version she looks like she’s a Gothic Knight…
That’s Amazon’s problem. They say one thing (“we want to give players more choice and more diversity in character presets and armor/outfits”) yet their actions say otherwise (deletion of already existing presets to the point that you cannot import a character customization file from the Korean client because the options no longer exist … there is also the forced change of the starting armor and removing the choice from the player in which starting armor they want).
Don’t worry they have 4 and half of month to fix this.
I mean they will add full body, black dive-like suit even for male characters.
Why the heck was the original post reported and is now hidden, what happened here?
