Is there anything that can be done to handle the botting issue?
I think realistically this isn’t a very popular idea/solution but perhaps if you had a background client akin to Riot’s Valorant anti-cheat, and the purpose of this background client is to scan for background applications that are known to be used with cheating… this would be a way better stance than what is currently going on. There needs to be a proactive solution to this problem or it’s never going to get fixed. It’s crazy to me that the report/block list is limited for players, these bots multiply at stupid rates because they aren’t being handled well, and on top of that they port around so it’s hard to “capture them.” Please consider options such as this moving forward. We all want a better game and this is literally what makes the game unappealing to new people, telling them there is a queue because the server population is outweighed by bots.
Maybe this can also resolve issues of people sneaking in from foreign countries and causing the server to ping high.
That’s what Easy Anti-Cheat EAC is supposed to be doing.
Except people can turn EAC off and Lost Ark stays open …
from my understanding EAC is a pretty bottom tier anti cheat system. i don’t know much about anti cheat systems but it’s obviously not doing it’s job. man i kinda wish riot published this game now tbh, they have way more experience under their belt with dealing with these situations. smilegate has it’s own system of handling cheating in SK, but it’s not applicable here.
Bottom tier? It’s so low tier as to be non-existant. There are methods for not just bypassing it but disabling it completely. They’d be better off having no anti-cheat: they’d get the same security without paying a licensing fee.
The problem is cost. Easy Anti cheat is the cheap option but easy to circumvent with a virtual box. Roit have to invest more and the core content is PvP
BE and EAC are garbo.
RIOT’s anticheat is VERY intrusive, just pointing that out. It is definitely better, won’t argue with that but having it installed with kernel level access (which basically behaves like your GPU driver for example) can cause quite disgusting issues and false positives. Many valorant players would tell you their lovely horror stories about the problems they encountered.
Actually this topic just makes me feel rage, the fact there are literally thousands and thousands of bots all following the same path, doing the same stuff and nothing is being done about it for MONTHS. Putting in metrics to measure character behavior isn’t that hard and then just mass ban. They’re so brazen now as to just teleport everywhere, like you couldn’t pick that up in a log of some kind.
This is Amazon’s biggest failure by far, as much as other things are annoying, this is outright disrespectful to the legit playerbase.
I’m actually starting to think they leave them in to show higher player count so we don’t see how many people have quit from other bad decisions.
People with abandonware servers are better at tracking bots than AZG/SG, and I guess it’s because they don’t care.
We see hundred if not thousand of train bot going all around, a couple Gamemasters monitoring would be a huge improvement, implementing filters would be even better, but it seems such thing is not in their best interest. This game allows cheaters, simple as that.
I once read there are 10 cents account for sale so the botters can bypass the restrictions applied by Steam and it was true, there are literally thousands, it’s clearly not working.
