Accidently permanently banned my friend

So I gifted a friend of mine a CD key from Gamivo (Apprentice Starter Pack) 3 weeks ago and it got him perma-banned yesterday cause the original buyer refunded the key aka scammed.
I didn’t know a steam CD key can be refunded nor that it’s against the TOS to buy DLCs from third parties (I would’ve gifted the dlc through steam to him but the game isn’t available in my country).
I know that gold selling isn’t allowed of course but I didn’t know that reselling DLCs aren’t allowed either. lesson learned.
but it’s unfair for him to be banned over an action someone else did without the ability to even have a second chance over such mistake.
I think the support should allow cases like these to be re-paid even if it’s x2 of the original price and not ban permanently right away.
I feel terrible for ruining his account and make 400 hours and money wasted cause of my own mistake.

I’m very sorry about the situation of your friend.

What I see the issue is through steam, like you said that the Starter pack was refunded by the seller, so in this case I would like to recommend to your fried to contact Steam support in order to explain the situation and verify if they can do anything about it since is not your friend fault that the key used to claimed the started pack was refunded by the seller.

This is incorrect information since i have the same problem, it literaly says so when you click on the ban info on your account details in steam, that its issued by the game developer/publisher and steam has nothing to do with it.

What the CM/GM/Support need to do is give people, who have this issue, an option to top up their account with whatever value of the pack their account is due. Either trough their steam wallet, amazon sepa/bank payment, paypal or a custom payment link.

This is already done in wow when something gets revoked, refunded or when a chargeback happens. A process which literaly takes minutes.

Your best bet is to have your friend file an appeal and try and see if it can be done that way, though i doubt its gonna be solved soon. My current waiting time for even a response is 3days.

Thank you for replying.
So, what can we do? Try to contact steam support? if we buy a new copy of the dlc directly from steam, will it be fixed?
I contacted the Gamivo website I bought the key from and all they could offer for the situation was a refund.
My friend is having a game ban on steam and steam aren’t the ones to be able to remove game bans, it has to be done by the developers of the game.
My friend’s character name is Asger and he is playing on EUW. He submitted a ban appeal and we are currently waiting for a reply.

Can you bump up the reply time, at this rate he will wait weeks before he gets unbanned

I’m the Asger (EU West - Moonkeep; Steam Community :: pwixel) this thread is about and just want to share everything from my point of view.

Pretty much 2 days ago I got banned for refunding the “Lost Ark Apprentice Starter Pack” (which I never did ofc) while I was in the middle of doing a Chaos Dungeon, I then immediately messaged Amazon Live Support and they forwarded me to (at first the New World ban appeals and then) the Lost Ark ban appeals.
At the time I thought I got banned because I bought Skins off the Auction House (2.5k gold Lawmaker Skin for example) that the original owner ended up refunding because I’ve seen that happen to other people on this forum as well so I ended up making a ticket stating I was falsely banned because of buying the skins off the AH.

My friend and I then took a look at the seller’s page on gamivo one day later and this is what we saw:

So it turns out that it actually wasn’t an issue caused by the skins but rather the actual key and because of that my ban appeal ticket is not accurate anymore.
I’m not sure what exactly to do other than wait for a reply and then giving the support an update on what actually happened because I don’t want to flood their emails and get flagged as a spammer. I would of course do anything to get unbanned again, be it paying off the debt created by the seller or just buying a new pack in general.

if somehow someone from the Unban Team/Moderation Team would kindly look into this I would be very happy because I personally did nothing wrong nor did my friend!

seen this happening to a lot of people and this should not be happening at all
please fix this issue amazon, give the people that got banned an option to get their account back.

Bumping with my experience too. I did refund the pack but I did it legitimately, and still ended up buying that DLC and more in the end.

@Piwxel About your situation, in that case since you have create the ban appeal for other reason, I recommend you to create another explaining the actual case so the team can verify it as well and investigate and take the action if is needed.

Also I like to remember to be patience to all of this if you already create the ban appeal about this situation, the team will be investigate the case to give each one a response. I like to clarify that each case are handled manually to verify the reason of the ban and if this was well applied or not.

Here in the forum unfortunately we don’t have access to the ban appeal so we can’t give you any information about it.
