I’ve spent on this game. I still think RMT is bad. People who spend through the shop SHOULD be more concerned about RMT since people are getting gold for 1/4 of the price legitimate buyers are. Why would AG want people buying gold from a 3rd party rather than from them?
This is honestly just conjecture, not sure where you draw a correlation between RMT and being “invested” in the game. In fact people who abuse RMT frequently accept that they might get banned and do it because it’s simply cheaper than the in-game shop.
Again really not sure what you are basing this assumption off of. How would they lose money from people who are not spending money on the store? They also don’t need to perma-ban but the current punishment is non-existant. Giving negative gold would be fine.
I know about 10 players who RMT personally to varying degrees from 1st time to weekly since launch. The ones who do it more are honestly less invested and do it because they don’t care. Also none of them have been even temp banned.
Agreed. And work with Steam to issue VAC-bans. This is a clear violation of TOS.

Even Mark Jacobs (Mythic Entertainment - the guy behind DAoC and the failed Warhammer Online) when he was mouthing off about how he personally hated the RMT industry.

In the end a light hand isn’t the way to go with this situation. So whatever they choose the penalty should exceed the potential gain not just equal it. ie. Just taking the gold away.
The concept of taking the gold away then putting a 2 week - month reduction on gold gain even through mail seems like a reasonable mid ground. I’m just more the ban and bye type.
I feel like this is the only game I’ve played where this wasn’t a black and white ban.
Both Path of Exile and Warframe will lifetime ban you for this kinda crap.

Idk man, I think if they lied about Artist/scout/reaper release dates or exaggerated and told us they would come next year the RMTers would let the bots farm more before coming back to buy gold so they can boost their class.
No need to ban them for 20 days or perms. The game is free they will be back. You have to let them know their class isn’t coming and they will stop prepping for it

Nope, if AGS ban their hardware ID they wont create new acc just like that. They either need to risk to brick their components with changing their Hw ID or buy new gaming rig which is not cheap in these days.
Add : Scenario 2 - 3500 hours and $7k in rmt put into game then temporarily banned and lost all 7k rmt
Effect 2 - Quit game and move on or continue to play after regretting decisions while avoiding rmt due to fear of loss of progress gained over time now that you’re aware that another rmt will cost you everything.
