not of this scope, they where allready suprised with the founders launch of 550k.
They have been doing this non stop extreamly fast since 2 hour into the founders launch, player interest and player base is growing faster than servers can be implemented reasonably, you simply cant overpump servers because then you will end up with a lot of half full servers AKA dead servers in the end.
Stop comparing this game to New World, there is nothing similar here to New World at all and Lost Ark has none of the foundamental problems that was put there by clueless devs and crappy coding. Comparing it to New World just shows that you are clueless about the difference between a developer and a Publisher.
If they sell 550k founderpack - thay know how many potentialy people will be start. You should asume that another 550k will join witf F2P system. When you are developer you should “asume” many things…
When “hype” is end you just remove more serwers and move account to the few that is hall full…
Did you saw haw many players have RU and KR player base looks like?! Peoples compare thos 2 products because one: both are ONLINE MULPLAYER GAMES, second there was similar problems on the beginning. If publisher who not long time ago was developer cant do coreclty CTR+C and CTRL+V with code and cant implement corretly something called founders pack should not be take core of both of those things…
F2P game player retention is abysmal. This is one of the most predicable things in gaming. If they released a new server every time one had a queue they would have a mountain of dead servers in a month.
For reference, PoE has one of the best F2P models out there, but only 14% of they people that have ever played it have beaten act 1. There are ten acts in that game before you actually get to the bulk of the content.
Once everyone gets in and has their fill the numbers will plummet. No one would have predicted last week that nearly 1.4 million people would be playing this game concurrently.
It sucks, it would have been nice if SG in Korea had figured out server transfers when they ran into the same issues 5 years ago, but they didn’t.
Comparing New World to this is ridiculous and using AGS as a scapegoat is just an easy out for frustrations, they’ve done pretty well, considering.
Exactly in this scope. If that many founders were sold it is not hard to estimate the influx of F2P on launch
They actually have not done this non-stop at all. Adding excess servers is not an issue actually since you can very easily merge servers especially Amazon servers. So if some servers eventually run dry they can merge servers.
I can compare NW to this from a server and infrastructure perspective just fine. If you don’t get this you better use that link to figure that one out friend.
(and don’t come at me with anther google reference as I am a developer kiddo)
There is a pretty high difference between 550k and 1.3 million. As a " new " game launching in a new region where those type of games tend to get waaaaay less attention and in the span of a few days you can not realisticly expect everything to be done in less than a week.
When you remove the servers and merge communities those merged servers tend to suffer a lot, that is why you very rarely run the risk of adding to many servers, this you can find plenty of statements and examples from other mmos about and why merges should be a last resort always.
KR sits on 250k concurrent players and RU way less than that again. There is way more factors involved here than you understand, i suggest you read up a bit more how these things really work and the ammount of work that goes into these sort of things. Usually the people that complain and rant like this and do this kind of bashing do not understand half of the procedure.
I doubt there are any other server with mostly english speakers that isnt full to the brim
I joined the same server due to the fact it’s meant to be mostly english speaking players on Kaden.
Sadly the queues are huge and it made me think if i should start over on another server too, but all servers are suffering.
I just hope they can resolve the issue soon. But this is normal… FFXIV Endwalker was actually worse than this. The queues were long and you could get kicked out and lose your place in queue.
Got no problem throwing AGS under the buss for making trash of a game like New World, but people complaining and speaking out of their ass about technology and workflow they know nothing at all about can go and eat dirt.
Not whiteknightning shit, but i played mmo games for 15 years and i played about 90% of all the hyped mmos at laucn day and stuff like this do not happen that often on this sort of scale on a first time launch in a new region where the market for these types of games usually are shit and gone in 2 weeks.
This is not Activision Blizzard launching a new expansion with allready 6 mill players and a insane pre sale of expansions.
This was a launch where they tought that half a million players where plausible but no way close to 1.5 mill and here we are. Get some general IT knowledge that is not basic computer lab 101 and try to see how many corners you would need to cut to keep up with peoples expectations and how that would turn out in the end.
What is truly pathethic is ranting about stuff with no knowledge what so ever, like a autistic pidgeon.
DUDE they sold 1,2 million founder packs, that right there should have told them that EU region needs 2 ZONES (like USA have us east and west, same for eu). But EU, with way way more players than US (almost double) got just ONE zone, with LESS servers attached to it. You are full of it buddy, next time make sure you know what you are speaking about before trying to be smart, or you will get stepped on.
That’s the reason they open now (just now) a second zone to EU with a new host of servers. They surely had the data, and everything was expected and on the table, including 1,5 million concurent players.
