In all seriousness I used to think people were complaining because most the posts are someone on ilvl and/or under geared asking why they are being gatekept. I understand most of the gatekeeping to be honest, whether I agree with it or not is a different story. I understand it’s their party and they’re entitled to do what they want. With that being said…
On my two mains, Surgeblade 1520 & PM GS 1510. Both with at least lvl 7 gems, LOS 18, 5x3, high quality gear etc. Of course i have no issue getting accepted to clown and most Brel partys.
On my third stepchild “main” is getting gatekept on clown. 1490 Tai Scrapper, 5x3 Grdg/Adren/Tai/KBW/Amb, lvl 7 & 8 gems, TITLE, high quality on most armor, LOS 18, 4x lvl 2 pieces. That is insane. The amount of gold this character took alone is crazy for an alt.
I’ve been playing lobby simulator on clown for the last 3 hours on/off and the same thing happened last week.
Gatekeeping has gotten pretty excessive as of late. When I’m on my main hosting a party - I quickly check the character and bring them in and usually have no issue. Obviously I don’t accept every single person but you get the point. I accept ALOT less than what my scrapper is. These party leaders are wasting more time in putting together a party than just finishing the raid. I one shot clown with less party deaths than Valtan pugging every single time at this point. There is no need for all of this. Let alone the stories I’ve heard from others. This player base can just be so spoiled and toxic I just wish everyone was nicer to each other like other games I’ve played. I understand this post is pointless but figured I’d post anyway.

-I’m sitting on almost 300k gold and want to gear up another alt to the point of Brel since I bought tripods for every single one of my alts. Even Lopang slaves. But why would I want to spend 250k gold on my igniter just for her to get gatekept like this since she wont be 1520…It’s just lame man.
I have seen lot of gatekeeping with players not having lvl 9 or lvl 10 gems in g5 & 6 even though the content is clearable with lvl 7 gems. It feels its gonna get worse when brel hm comes out.
i feel you, my 1505 scouter, 5x3, +21 - 100 quality weapon, full clown gear, 9dmg/7cd gem, max tripods and 1773 specc (2 skill transformation) get’s gatekeeped over and over again…
That’s a bit strange. I’m also playing on NAW and have a tai scrapper alt too (5x3, full lvl 7 gems, los18), I don’t think I’ve ever experienced gatekeeping to the same extent as you on this character unless I’m trying for new content at ilvl.
The issue might be clown raid itself, that people prefer having at least 1 ranged dps in the party to deal with aura/fire towers on g3. If I’m applying to a lobby that already have 2 dps, I generally skip over lobbies with 2 melee dps unless one of them is a GL and other is a back attacker (they might accept me due to party synergy).
So i have honed 4 bards to brel to help with supp shortage but when I go and try to get party for my dps I wont get because im not the “supp friend”… so im thinking about not playing more my supps if im not gonna get spots for my dps… screw that
Haha I feel that. I tried playing Pally and couldn’t get into it. All of my friends and main guild quit this game so I’m all alone and solo queue support wasnt fun. I’m going to play artist when she comes out which I think alot of people are planning which will be nice.
I had to hone my Pally to 1500 to clear G4, because no one wanted to accept my 1518 SS main for some reason.
Even tho it’s 5x3 all lvl8 gems.
Now fun begins with my Summoner, who’s 1480 4x3 with lvl 8 gems. I have full relic set, and the only reason a manged to clear clown was because i created a party and picked M3.
clown req are 1500+ now
eventually it will be 1560-1575 only like in KR

The reason 1500+ parties are skipping Mario 4
PUGs will not do atropine + Nine
only premades do and so Gear req went up
They want to skip M4 using zero Atrophine and Innana
I see what you’re saying. but people have alts as well. But thats for main characters mostly or 2nd 3rd Alts. MOST people dont have their main 6 gold earning roster all above 1500+. Even the hardcore gamers have alts at 1490. It’s just odd.
All I can say is that OP is OP! You’re hella jacked for someone who isn’t on a static, and that’s applause-worthy.
That said, although not a solution to the gatekeeping, go get a static, you’d sooner find one than go through another lobby simulator. I’d kill to find randos like you in PUGs for my alts back in the day to be honest.
With a static, you’re more than likely to find similarly minded people (usually super chill AND geared as heck) that will also run their alts with yours (or on rotation) even on iLvl. Your guild’s a good place to start [looking] for that.
Hah thanks man. Unfortunately most of my friends and guildmates have quit this game. I tried joining a few statics and it wasn’t the best of luck. I haven’t given up on it but wish I had one for Brel lol.
Yeah, I wish the guild system was just for your entire roster, so we wouldn’t be so divided into so many small subsets of people.
Good luck out there man! You can always take a break (like I did) and come back when the game isn’t feeling like a chore or a pain to you any more. It’s always more refreshing to play that way.
Thank you! I’ve actually dialed back a lot. My steam graph proves it a lot too lol. I’ve let go of the crazy need on dailies even on rested. I mainly worry about 3-4 chars and thats it. It’s made the game so much better for me. So much more time to raid without the anxiety of homework.
I think the gatekeeping meta has evolved since brel came out. Now parties accept 3 dps and reject every other dps because they assume any support who wants to join wants to bring friends and they are that desperate for supports that they will just reject everyone else. At this point there is no limit to gatekeeping that’s taking place. You can be 40 ilvls over the gate 5x3 full meta build completion titles and achievements most party will still instant reject you because gotta keep those spots for support pets.
I’ve legit lost count how many times I have joined brel since launch on my supports and the leader doesn’t ask “do you have someone with you” they just skip it and go to “what’s your friends name i will invite”
I do share your pain though. Despite most of my roster being supports when I do actually go to get into groups on my sorc sadly I have to play the instant rejection game. It would be nice if you could search peoples rosters in game to say “oh you beg me to come on all my supports but you instant reject constantly when I want to play my 1 dps class”
Well yeah, the answer to previous gatekeeping was join a guild/static/friend and swap support runs. This will continue until a comparable solution to the shield+heal is introduced.
tbf if people gatekeep you for not having lvl 9/10 gems, you are better off without them, as dps is not a problem in any gate, heck g6 even wipes you if you dps too much
