the floor of a support is below any dps
a terrible support can still be more valued than an averagely played DI SH

this is so much true that people blindly accept dps paladins and then bitch that they aren’t getting the paladin they wanted

ofcourse you have your difficulty in gameplay
ofcourse you have to think before you use your abilities

nobody is saying that you can turn your monitor off and watch netflix while in hell vykas
we are just saying that your value is not in your mechanics

and that is fine
different classes exist for different people
and just because you are considered an easy class to play and be valued for it doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing
the argument of the post is that supports have a disproportionally inflated egos
they think they are some hot shit when they aren’t

a bard can never use his dps buff and still be valued
a paladin can overlap his buffs on an immunity phase and nobody will even notice
and they will still be the ones to flame the dps when someone fucks up

for example i played a kungel yesterday on my alt that went terrible
like we passed out on 1 of the pheros we didn’t have extra flares
the bard was full spec and 3 bubbled after the snow storm started
and our 1 dps dc’d so it was super slow kill
she didn’t use corro either
it was all fine and dandy until she quit after the 1st kill instead of comitting for the 2nd

ie it was our fault despite her being literally in it for the bus
so yeah

yesterday started a bard, got up to 1415 and didnt have the pheons to gear her up, used books to have 9 points on desperate and 9 points on heavy armor, cut a stone from chaos with 6 heavy to have 15 points and jewelery from argos to have desperate 15.

with all that, went and asked for party on valtan of 7 persons maybe waiting for hours there as i got taken instantly.

once In the leader says who can lead? I said I could and he passed the me lead, then we 1 tapped g1 and g2…

relevant thing is that this was in a new server where my roster is lvl 50 and i have mokoko symbol lol…

so a mokoko bard 2 engraves no stats carried that party 2 times mvp, none on my party died… so your post is BS

You’re not reading anything at all… i’m saying the support needs char visuals not the dps and its not the dps needing to prepare but the support needing to be able to press buttons at the right time. Mechanics isn’t pressing buttons/positioning as much as it is decision making in this game…

As someone who runs 5 dps 1 support trust me min maxing support is much harder than some of the dps (esp blue gl, reflux sorc, di sh)

If pressing buttons/clicking the ground and recognizing normal patterns is what you think is difficult then we’re barely talking about ceilings. At the ceilng level that stuff is all second nature and the players I play with question mark ping you if you’re randomly being hit by normal patterns.

The whole point is that DPS have to hold their abilities to wait for an attack buff (NOT IDENTITY) too often in pugs → which differentiates a good vs bad support. Holding abilities= bad.

Yes support floor/average support/90%tile support is easier than most dps. But ceiling support is where its more difficult. Denying this is ludicrous and as a 5 dps/1 support player if you don’t recognize that you can min m ax support you’re just turning your brain off and pressing buttons on a gut feel when youre on ur support.

All these people replying to my comments on you don’t need to do that, or this… we’re talking about ceiling gameplay? we’re talking about what you need to do to get to 99.9% tile. Not what you need to do to be “good enough” which is a low bar for support.

Literally every argument people are presenting is “you don’t need to do that/it’s not that impactful/that’s too difficult or unrealistic to do” which isn’t ceiling discussion. If what you guys are describing is what you think ceiling support is, wdf is your ceiling dps? pressing buttons without thinking about how your support will support you or not optimizing rotation around support? If you think how the support plays barely matters you’re definitely not thinking like a ceiling dps. Remember ceiling play is similar to maximizing parses (if you guys play other mmos that actually care about optimizing rotation) though you have to account for rng/how quickly you’re phasing. thinking you can get a 99.9%tile parse without a support optimizing and just “pressing on a gut feel/efficient rotation” is kinda whack

As paladin main, when I see those rainbow stat supports I just quit the lobby. Support requires only 3 engravings, however you cant cheap out on gems and stats. Support requires high uptime on buffs and shields, otherwise you are better off taking 4th dps.

i did almost the same with my last Paladin.

However this post is not all BS, because for 1st abyssal raids and Legion Raids in Normal mode, have a 4x3 is not really what’s gonna change anyway.

But with the “easyclicking” we have with ark pass, xpress event and such, you have 2 engravings 1475 sups, and honnestly, i would’nt mind a strict minimum engraving on a normal valtan or argos, event Vykas normal, but starting from 1445 to 1475+ i find quite normal to gear the char properly (3x3/4x3 with the right engraving are far more than ok).

And i also wanted to say that EU/NA community seems to have surfed on the gigachad wave on engravings and gear (see the swarms of post about 5x3 “needed” for clown…) but if you want your character ultra minmaxed it’s your choice, dps will go high numbers get mvp, etc… but that just make the content easy, that is far from being required to clear it.

Dont event think support main are thinking the same way you do. some does, but i bet a lot are sometimes raging cuz they spent a lot to get Drops of Ethers as 4 of 5th and 90% of dps players dont even bother to go and take it when it drops.

5x3 to have almost nobody taking benefit of it ? thanks but no thanks.

Anyway, the one and only rule will prevail, whatever forum post, whine or anything. if you dont like it, dont take it in your raid, or dont join a raid with that kind of support, as you would do for dps.

And if you’re mad because you can’t find support, just build one, the lack of support is mostly because a LOT (most) of players have a 6roster without any in it, so more dps on the market and the support rate is going down.

No judgment, just probably a fact (i’m not 100% but i think i’m probably right)

that’s something I don’t understand like they could release classes with 1 eng for sup and other for dps so we would have more options and main sups can do solo content (and no, judgement pala it’s not what I mean).

The whole, “if there were more support options would fix the problem” isn’t true. Putting MORE support options wont change all that much. Just look at other games that have MULTIPLE support options (with classes that CAN do a dps spec OR a support spec just as well) and they ALSO suffer from support issues. People dont like to play support, plain and simple. This fact is never going to change that the majority of players ONLY want to play DPS since its effects are NOTICABLE.

At least with LA, you CAN run with zero supports since you can heal with pots (which is a lot of the cases people want a support to not spend money on potions).

But the mindset is never going to change even if you added more supports to the game, there is always going to be a support shortage.

I played wow for 9 years as a healer, there was always a healing & tank shortage in every group the entire time. Both of these queues were near instant while DPS group queues were decently long. This despite multiple classes having a healing option to run.

I guess back in the early days when there wasn’t really raid content it didn’t seem like a big deal (since end game was guardians).

I have a 1400 swiftness bard with correct combat stats, 3x3 engravings (DS, Awakening, and HA) and level 5 gems and I still can’t get accepted into parties. What support privilege are we speaking of here?

I can clear valtan and vykas on that pally easily, with those exact engravings and rainbow stats.

It’s not even a problem.

I’ve never once complained about support shortage buddy. I play two supports and am a DPS main. I didn’t join the lobby the Paladin was in because I’d rather run with a DPS in that slot than a useless support that can’t provide buffs or shields at proper intervals to smooth out the run.

Imagine this kind of “alt support” is hated and gatekept, what do you think will be the impact to those who dont main support?

Or maybe you are the one who wanted to get carried by a gigachad support?

My point is that people are abusing the support shortage by making these poorly built supports that offer no real benefit in raids and people feel like they NEED support when really it’s not that hard to just go in with a party full of DPS. I have no problem running a raid full DPS. I am a DPS main that also plays a Paladin and a Bard that are both built to offer enough buff uptime and healing/shields to support the party properly. I spent my resources to do it because of the support shortage and wound up enjoying the classes. I don’t understand what’s so hard about anyone else doing the same. It’s not an expensive class to gear at all.

Get off your high horse with this “get carried by a gigachad” bs insult. I run most of my raids in statics or with guildies. It’s not too much to ask that the few I do pug are not wasting my time since I do my best not to waste theirs.

You dont even know if this character is his alt or if the guy is willing to swipe just to gear up his character. He might be one of the F2P andies. You posting this just to get an attention “hey, im a gigachad with full of this and that”.

You start from being like this character and crawl your way up and nobody POSTED anything like what you did.
