Agree with AGS leaving most of the game eastern vision alone and making some changes to reflect the western audience but not a complete replacement. It is good to have a blend of both because let’s be real, NA has many ethnicities across the globe.
Some of this is real bad if the above is true.
This is the case with gear too…
The pre and post prologue gear doesn’t match the icons, the icons show the original gear on KR/ RU but the actual models are wrong…
Amazon are just creating problems when there weren’t any.

Roxx confirmed over on the Steam forums that the original sexy starting outfits were removed and replaced with non-sexy starting outfits. But you can still apparently get the original outfits via white drops somewhere else in the game.

It’s like they’re localizing a game for people who aren’t even gamers and just really into current political drama.
Why spend extra efforts doing this when you can just focus on your monetization plan instead?
The whole create problems when there was none seems to be Amazon’s m.o at this point given how New World develeopement is going recently as well.

How can Amazon be so out of touch? Identity politics and political correctness is alright to a certain point but altering the original vision of the developers, let alone REMOVING content just to try and sell the game as a more ‘diverse’ product doesn’t work.
Games become successful when the gameplay is good, not when the characters in a game are ‘diverse.’ When’s the last name Nintendo had to change their characters to be a different skin color so that their games could do well in the West? Never.

Amazon, the censorship issue is the biggest concern of your customers on every forum. Fix this issue by either reverting the changes or adding the option for players to have the original outfits and NPC’s.

I doubt they’ll fix it or revert the changes. There are too many people who will white knight and defend Amazon’s decision and ensure those changes stay forced on everyone. I’d love to be wrong though.

And sadly a lot of those people will probably not play the game for long. It’s a trend in the West to punish the actual fans of a franchise just to appease the loud minority of virtue signalers on the internet.

Yup. Which is an absolute shame because if Amazon ignored the virtue signalers and stuck to the original vision/look while providing a solid localization/translation without too much change they would have a pretty successful MMO. And while I think Lost Ark will still do well, they’ve marred the game too much with their changes and that will drive some people away from the game.

Well I hope Smilegate is aware of these concerns and intervenes. It’s too bad a company like Smilegate who actively listens to their customers and makes changes to remedy their concerns chose a publisher that apparently doesn’t.

All depends about their contract with Amazon, and honestly i dont see them be to happy about AGS after that fiasco that is NW.

I mean… Amazon did listen to their players and actively address feedback that had been talked about in alpha/beta numerous times. It only took New World losing a little over 600k players before that happened.

This is not an American view on the game, this is an extremist, radical and invasive view that has metastasized into a permanent part of the dominating culture in the last ~13 years. It’s a view which believes their political views are just so important that injecting it into everything without a shred of empathy is…moral.
I’m honestly surprised the game released with genders, given New World’s character creation.

It’s not “American” views but by watching popular media you might think otherwise. We have several very tiny vocal minority groups here that the media and entertainment industry are latching onto. Then, the virtue signalers latch onto it and “support” these fringe groups to make themselves feel warm and fuzzy inside because they are “inclusive”. Media then slanders anyone that doesn’t agree as to silence any rational opinions on the matter. Then you have the groups that just don’t understand how letting this continue will be a problem for them because it doesn’t impact them… yet.
AGS just needs to translate PROPERLY and provide voice acting with some monetization changes. To be honest, I wouldn’t put it past AGS to the monetization worse because it’s actually not like a typical Korean MMO in the slightest.

This topic needs more visibility. This decision-making feels more personal and not representative of what the Lost Ark community is actually asking of AGS.
Please AGS, please consider reverting these changes back to their original artistic vision that Tripod and Smilegate spent years working on.
