It’s just virtue signaling to an absurd level. Again, there’s no proof they are intentionally doing this with class names but it’s very possible since this is a trend in tech currently.

I think Spearman wouldve fallen flat too. Some things dont translate well from korean to english. This is largely because unlike english there are no masculine or feminine words in korean.
Spearman just means “person that wields a spear”. In english it would be “man that wields a spear”.

Moon blade, glaive ect are a specific term of the same weapon type.
Lance is just plain wrong in all aspects. It isnt a lance at all.

I can’t believe I didn’t realize this lol. I actually know this to be true from real estate. People are not saying master bedroom anymore either lol. Makes sense especially given Amazon’s background.

Im not arguing its a bad choice. But the most correct english name would be Glaive Mistress or Spearwoman and that will never happen.
So my original vote is for Pole Dancer. Because why the heck not.

GitHub is indeed enforcing this idea but it’s very bold of you to assume this is the reason to make the change.
Glaivier isn’t a bad name tbh, it sound cool and no, “We all been calling her like this” will only apply to the small % who played in RU/KR if most haven’t quit 'cause this version isn’t a carbon copy of those versions.
Plus why they need to make statements for every little thing that isn’t the same to the other versions?
Is literally just a name, there is no gameplay consequences or diminishing returns.

That’s just misused terminology and phrasing.
“They are a master of Kung-Fu.” - That is a unisex phrase.
“Is the master of the house home?” - That is a sex identifying phrase.
You cannot be a Lance Mistress. A male or female will always be a Lance Master.
A Doctor will always be any sex as well. Words aren’t the issue. Using them poorly is.
It’s why people don’t say “Is the master of the house home?” anymore. They say “Is the owner of the house home?”. Some terms and phrases are inherently unisex. Some are not.

the only other reason i can think of is ags wanting to prove they are the one calling the shots, making a difference or in their mind even improving the game by imprinting everlasting change on the core parts of it. and thats an even dumber reason to butcher the original game tbh
