Call me a loser but I'm done with honing

Dumbest thing I’ve read today and that’s a god damn accomplishment on these forums.

Lol. Bro I spent 3 weeks trying to hone my +19 to +20 weapon. 38 fails in a row before I got my +20 at 92% pity. Chill and play the game.

only 38?

LMAO this is no different then raiding for a month and not getting any upgrades due to bad luck on drops or loot council giving loot to other raiders.

Bye. Can I have your gold?

I only bought the ark pass and im sittting at 1460, weekly gold is enough unless youre buying honning mats

Lol ppl like you are the ones who cry about honing rates etc etc etc.
Buddy. Every progress has a set price to get to pity which is basically a gear upgrade.
Everything before that is a bonus. How can you possibly think that below 15% percentage is granted to you for a success? Lmao jesus these peeps need to learn stats.

wtf thats nothing xD

Yea. I didn’t have the gold to full juice every roll. Or I would have hit pity earlier.

I don’t think they know how to program RNG. Either that, or they got a system to make people fail and let some succeed. Why? It’s for you to spend more money to catch up, FOMO.

This kind of game design has been a thing for 20+ years in mmos now. It used to be way worse. Every time you upgrade, there’s a chance it will fail. There would also be a chance it will destroy your item.

Enhancing in Lost Ark is not the main focus of the game. If you make it your main target, you are playing the game wrong and you will burn out really fast. Enjoy the game.

If you don’t enjoy the game, just quit. What’s the point of playing the game when the only aspect of the game that you’re interested in is enhancing?

This is even better than that, since raid loot never has pity. You could spend 6 months without a piece of gear.

Yes it is because content is locked behind arbitrary ilvl numbers.

A thread, about people unhappy with honing rates, and you were able to figure out that people are in fact, complaining about honing rates. Very impressive I’ve got to say. People need to learn about stats? You’re like 2 weeks late and don’t even know what you’re saying lmao.

At least honing has true RNG to it, if you were playing Raid Legends (I am sure they have possibly fixed it now) the gear upgraded at certain attempts. Someone posted a video about it a couple of years ago when they would tell you when it would happen and shown for each similar gear the number of attempts was the exact same.

But once you hit 1370 there is no point using honing bonus mats like the Solar Protections etc, they give very little back, just go for it whatever percentage it is and wish for the best, I have succeeded at 15>16 first try (was 10%), 3rd try from 16>17, and then about 7th or 8th try from 17 > 18 on head piece as I was cheap honing towards 1415.

It can be annoying when you fail a lot sure… it would be annoying if you could just level gear easily too, then there is no sense of achievement in that regards. LA may start out casual friendly, but towards the end it clearly isn’t, and requires dedication to get anywhere and a nice amount of alts :stuck_out_tongue:

If you feel this bad at 1340+ … then don’t get to 1415+… My +17>18 weapon has about 12 failures over 3 weeks and I just got to 50% artisans. Yes. That’s 4 attempts per week. I just pace it out… wait until I max out the special honing material and then on the weekly reset, I go HAM! Sometimes I go up 2-3 upgrades, sometimes I don’t move my ilvl for the whole week. Could I buy more chances? Yup. But why? The ride is more fun than the finish line.

This game is/was never about FAST progression. What sets it apart is that you will ALWAYS eventually make the upgrade…unlike Black Desert. Take your time, play an alt, play another game for a bit, wait till the weekly rest, try some pvp, etc. People always burn out when they tunnel-vision one character. That goes for any MMO really.

Yea you can keep complaining on the things that will never change buddy.
Why don’t you just complain and cry to make the rate 100%? Why not?
Do you think making 1% success rate 5% make a whole lot difference? Smh please.
Stop wasting your energy on the things that will never change.

What did you expect?
You need 6 successes between Valtan and Vykas.

If you had one every day that would be a week.

I will speak plainly:
Either you adjust your attitude or you best quit now.

Upgrades will only get more difficult.
1445->1460 you will get a bit over one upgrade per week IF you play daily and efficiently (which I doubt if you are at 1340 unless you started WAY AFTER release).

Honing is the core of the game - it won’t change for endgame content.
There will probably be buffs later on to give new players a shot of actually reaching the “then endgame”, but if you are anywhere near the top the air will always be thin (meaning ~1 upgrade per week unless you funnel mats from Alts - then a bit more).

I actually like this way better.
Raids don’t become useless that fast.

Western Games usually have the problem that after a few weeks you won’t find ppl playing certain classe to do certain raids because they “already have everythign they need out of it” and if they come with you are supposed to kiss ther feet to do you this favor,

The Legion Raids are doing that.
At least when a majority is able to do them on hard.

I think they just buy verified Steam accounts in bulk

Lmfao I’m not even complaining and didn’t say anything about it in 2 weeks and you’re so stuck on it. why are you so hurt and upset by what i think? And so tough/badass on the internet hahahah. everything you say is so hypocritical its hilarious hahaha. Stop wasting your energy ‘buddy’ I truly don’t care as much as you do. lmao

This is wrong for multiple reasons. First of all, honing doesn’t have “true RNG to it,” as honing has a pity system JUST LIKE the Raid Legends game mechanic you just mentioned. This already exists in all tiers.

In addition, there is a point in protection mats; they do two things: they increase your odds on a hone, and they also increase the artisan energy gained for that hone in particular. They are good to use on weapons, because weapon mats are more expensive and take longer to come by, plus the gold cost for weapon hones is about twice as expensive as armor.

Yes, there is a sense of achievement. The sense is, we’ve played enough to hit pity, then we get our upgrade.

My question for you would be: Why are you saying these things if you haven’t even played the game, or at the least, not actually learned about the things you’re talking about in-game?

In Shadow legends 2 ppl upgrading the same gear got the upgrade at the same attempt.
That doesn’t happen here.

The pitty system isn’t an “This is where ppl get it” mechanic. It is a failsafe so at some point (where a certain amount of people “got lucky”) you have to get it.
But before it, ti is truly random (well as random as a deterministic mashine can put out number)
