Character renaming can't contain special characters but new character names can

I am trying to rename my character to one of my other character’s name.

1. My other character is level 10, his name contains an unicode character: Ï
2. I deleted the character above
3. I then used the name change ticket to try and change my main character name to the deleted character’s name
4. I get an error message saying special character not allowed.

It doesn’t make sense that we can create characters using one name but cannot name change into the same name.
