Im on stonehearth on EUW. i can see people typing but when i reply i just get the chat above my head the chat does not appear in the box and seems like people cant read it

Area chat was working up until I did the guardian (casual) raid event in Punika. Since bifrosting out to Vern, no new messages.

Same problem, Chat sometimes updates but still shows messages from 15-20 minutes ago and not the most recent ones.

Chat is all funky. Sometimes its okay other times it just dies - have to reboot the whole game to get it to work again…no area chat, local etc the entire chat box is hosed. Unchecking and creating new tabs every time it breaks is beyond annoying

Yeah, people in my party were speaking to me and i was writing to them but the chat was empty.

Still having the issue.
We tried something and it looks like typing “<” character in the chat will completly break it.
Using “<-------” to show left location or “<3” causes:
And after it its just dead, i can hear the chat sound and see it in the speech bubble above but nothing in the chat window anymore.

NA West on Shandi server, chat is not working at all. Making a new tab works but not for everything.

I tried deleting and making new chat tab with all boxes ticked, resetting chat, reopening the tab, relogging ect… none of them worked. Even the Normal and System tab are bugged for me, I can only see Guild Announcement message when I first login, and thats it. My other 2 characters are fine though.
Chat is broken. I can see nearby speech bubbles and I can type and see my own speech bubble. But the actual chat window does not show anything, not normal, area chat, nothing only system messages. Fiddling with the tab settings of chat does nothing to remedy this problem
Happening for a few times already. Very very annoying… Every time a new patch comes out there has to be some added bug. This time it was the event timer and the chat bug

Still not working and breaking everytime a " < > " appears in the chat. Have to restart the whole game to fix it until the < > breaks it again.

It just seems to be random. I went the whole abyss dungeon with chat working fine. But then at the end when I tried to say thank you, it only appeared over my head, and not in the channel I was in.
I think this bug is part of an overarching problem in many MMOs where you have /commands that change where the message will show. But you also have channels that you join with those same commands. There is a mismatch between where the server thinks I am talking, and what channels I have enabled for that tab.

unchecking all options in chat and then applying, rechecking them fixes it sometimes.

THIS IS THE TRIGGER FOR THE PROBLEM:
Whenever someone types < in chat, it breaks for everyone who sees this.
It is not random at all. You can basically type this symbol in area chat, guild chat whatever. Whoever sees the < will not see any messages appear in the chatbox until restart.
Still see chat bubbles above player heads tho. I tested this with someone in guild and it works…
Can only assume this is due to new measures to prevent bot spam in chat.
