My takes on the PoV as someone who has followed the game since launch in Korea. Not played but heavily watched.

Well if their plan is to release classes as slowly as the roadmap, it depends how long it takes to get Summoner or god forbid Artist. If it takes too long, I’ll just use my time and money elsewhere.

Given that they are releasing one skin line a month, I’m not gonna hold my breath for any sort of meaningful skin releases

How do you know you’ll even like them?

The style of play for all unreleased classes is on YT.

Why not just play an Alt?

Because a good portion of the game’s free cosmetics are locked to the first class you complete them on.

Hey Ryder, thanks for the reply. I may have misunderstood your response, but those headings were kind of a copy and paste of the response players are getting when posting threads asking for all classes as soon as possible. This thread is my attempt to challenge the most common replies to those asking for there preferred class and offer some reasoning why it would be good for the game and the developers to release remaining classes as soon as possible. In my opinion, the most valid point, is that if they release them now, there’s more money to be made while the interest and the playerbase is high.
In other words, I sort of quote what others have argued in other threads such as ‘How do you know you’ll even like them?’ and you’ve answered with exactly what I wrote myself in answer to that question. It’s on YouTube, so we have some idea that a particular Class resonates with us. So we are in agreement. Not sure if you didn’t read it all, because I know I wrote a lot, ha ha! Or perhaps I misunderstood your response and you were just answering each question as a way to share your opinion in the post.
At any rate, thanks for sharing and it seems we’re in agreement with regards to this Class release situation. Cheers.

Hey there, thanks for the reply. While I appreciate my post was essay long, I actually posted it to address some of these counter-points such as you have made. I appreciate you’ll likely not agree, but my opinion on what you’ve stated is outlined in the original post above if you have some time to take a further look.

I don’t want to play the game until the balance patch and/or the raid I saw youtubers tease on stream is released. Or, I don’t want to play the game until they release human ears for my Bard. Personally however I would much prefer that they release a new class in a few months, providing me a reason to come back after I undoubtly moved on to something else for a bit. So while I am sorry to hear your favourite class wasn’t picked for the initial 15, I hope you see why this would have been a bad idea in the eyes of the majority.

/Someone Waiting for Artist and the Mokoko outfit so I can combine them and play as a tiny bean person!

They should just release all classes…I don’t want to play a game with something I don’t like…I want my master move release the classes faster, they are already ready and it doesn’t serve as content…release them for everyone to play and T3 yes it’s content, I don’t want to spend 3 months playing with a class I don’t like, I don’t have time to play only 2 hours a day so I want my main class

There’s also the factor to consider that too many classes can feel intimidating to new players. Even the 15 we launched with felt overwhelming to a lot of people, myself included. I can’t imagine how it would be with 22.

It’s also worth considering the other side. Most people that don’t want / don’t care if they launch with all the classes understand why some want it. Can you rationalize why Amazon might not, though? And can you rationalize it in a way that doesn’t amount to “lol greed” (or at least, explain why parceling out classes might make them more money in a way that doesn’t correlate to the game staying healthy as a side effect)?

Intimidating? Boy, new Korean players must have such a hard time choosing a class and complain about having too much choice. lmao

Thanks for your input. Essentially I feel my post above was an attempt to rationalize based on the counter-points many commenters are making in opposition to those who would prefer they release as many classes as can be deployed right now.

But to address what you stated and questioned; I don’t consider Classes to be overwhelming in any way whatsoever, you try them out or don’t try them out. I immediately created 6 different classes on the first day in order to save names and try out different character creation. I took two characters to lvl 50 and the rest I pulled along to a common point in the game ready for when I wanted to commit more time to them. I can switch characters when I get a bit bored of the same playstyle or clicking the same abilities over and over. If this process doesn’t appeal to some, then they need not worry about it, but if the classes were all released, the option would be there if they’re bored and want to try something new. For me, its the end-game content and everything that’s to come which is overwhelming, but if I have the class I prefer to play, then I can cross that bridge when I get to it using Youtube videos to clue me up on what I should be doing for each release of content. But the classes themselves offer choice not difficulty. They are the vehicle by which you explore the rest of the game’s content.

You asked can I rationlize why Amazon would not want to do this. Yes, I did so above in the original post attempting to address the counter-points made by the opposition to releasing all classes. I didn’t use the word greed to describe Amazon’s decisions, but rather countered the drip-feed strategy suggested by some as actually being a bad business decision given that the player base is at its highest right now. The demand for classes and their corresponding skins is also by default at it’s highest right now, so the time to profit from this is right now, as players will continue to leave the game for all sorts of reasons. The money made by sales right now, ultimately encourages and funds the development team’s creation of more new content which is being made anyway for Korea. For example, Smilegate are already working on more classes and with the Western audience demanding dual gender class options, they’re going to have quite a lot to release. If the idea is catch-up, its better to hurry up and release classes much of the playerbase are quite aware of through YouTube, rather than create a massive backlog. It’s not going to be a surprise when these classes drop, its not going to be new content that nobody knows anything about yet and its not going to generate the hype they think it will. As for retaining the playerbase, not likely, because if the roadmap looks to put Scouter last, then I’ll find other games to play and likely won’t be returning. there will be new MMOs, other new games and I won’t want to play catch-up in this just because they launched Scouter finally alongside some other content drop. Call it stubborn, call it entitled, spoilt or whatever you like, but this game had my attention for a while, but I stopped playing, deciding that this epic grind to get a character’s armour and other such tools to the highest level was only going to make sense if it was with the class I most desired to play. Even my chosen Alt the Lance Master is unavailable. The fact is, these classes weren’t released yesterday, so its not the most ridiculous notion to expect them to be there when the hype for them was already present through videos on the net. I’m hyped for them now, will spend money on skins now, but not in 6 months or beyond.

Meanwhile I have nothing to do.

Deadeye needs a rework and I’m unsure about investing in him until I know what’s going to happen.

Destroyer, Arcana, Scouter, Lancemaster and Summoner aren’t out.

So my choices are…. Continue to waste valuable resources on classes I don’t care about and won’t even use as alts in the long term…

Or play classes I don’t like, or are not interested in or are in need of a rework.

Not sure why I need six months to a year to play the game with classes I like just because I’m not one of the Zerker Sorc crowd.

And it’s not entitlement on my part. They built the game around valuable resources to funnel to a single main from your alts to progress. With a roster that has limited characters spots and archaic naming conventions. Knowing how difficult this is going to be on my future main and future alts is really disheartening.

And it has nothing to do with potential reworks. Deadeye exists, and needs one more than any other class.

Agreed. I understand the suggestion by some, that players plod on with an alt class to build up resources. But not for 6 months to a year. We’ve seen these classes showcased by streamers and Youtube channels and we’re hyped for them now, and other regions are playing them now.
It really doesn’t matter if our version is a new release, the content isn’t. The hype I have to play out the story as the Scouter or Lance Master won’t be there in a year’s time, they’ll be some other new MMO which I can start on launch day and choose/build a class/character that fits.
It’s not for others to say this game isn’t for me, if I actually do enjoy it, but want to commit all the time and effort that I know will be required to a class I want to play long term based on what I’ve seen. Maybe I’m wrong about those two classes and I won’t like them, but I’d sure like the opportunity to find that out now and then crack on with the game.
Like I wrote elsewhere, ‘If I’m not playing, what kind of strategy is that?’. We know about these classes, others are playing them, they are not new, they are not content as such but rather the vehicles by which we experience content.

i just want to get the class i want to main so i can start as early as possible to catch up to my main character now so i can raid etc with my guild. But ye i agree completly with your statement. I would like to pay skins etc. for those classes instantly. And i think about a pause of the game if it will not getting released as soon as i want it.

Idk, its somewhat frustrating as the classes aren’t new besides artist. I just have a feeling my main will be one of the last ones released lol.

I really want to play artist. Right now I’m having a 1386 bard and a 1357 gunslinger, it’s not like I’m not having fun with them, but I just can’t fully enjoy the game knowing that I will switch main when artist is released.

I really wish Lost Ark can be like WOW or FF14 that every region is having the same content or expansion. Like if Blizzard decided to release demon hunter and death knight only in NA, and EU players have to wait for couple months that would suck so badly. Sigh.

We’ll get there eventually. The game director’s vision is to have all regions of Lost Ark be at the same version so content can be released equally.

I think the next big thing they really need to put out is that roadmap so at least we can have some sort of preview into what we are receiving/can expect in these next coming months and if it’s worth holding off on playing your current characters to try and main another one that’s coming.

i personally would love to see them release the classes in a more rapid fire way instead of 1 or 2 per month, with the content we have access to so far already broad/varied enough, despite the honing hiccups we faced at the start of getting into tier 3.

holding out on people with this kind of gating is a waste of time, resources and ultimately income for them. and any standard excuse other people will throw at this point amounts to nothing more then an unconstructive game of telephone, regurgitating marketable snippets that do not address the argument proper, but instead are used to try and silence any criticism, constructive or otherwise.

releasing straight into tier 3, dangling a carrot in front of peoples faces and having such a huge amount of side content isn’t overwhelming, but having 22 ways instead of 15 to choose to play the game is?

I’m having plenty of fun playing X class so far, instead of the unreleased Y class i want to play, why should they release Y class any sooner?

this is literally Stockholm syndrome, you want to play Y but are playing X and you validate their poor release schedule decision when not only would it not be a negative for you if they released Y sooner, it would effectively be a positive.

classes determine HOW you play the game, all other content is WHAT you play.
plenty of people already know HOW they want to play this game, but aren’t allowed to play HOW they want.
as for WHAT to play? there’s already a lot of WHAT to play, seeing as how plenty of people haven’t reached tier 3 yet, and probably won’t actively pursue to do so until they can play HOW they want.

as a curiosity from my end. how many/which classes did the original version of the game have available by the time it released what we currently have available? and when during the original games progress did they release new/more classes? cause i don’t assume those 7 classes we’re missing were all released after the start of tier 3 content.

Thanks for your comment Scett, very good points, which I agree with.
Indeed their plan is a bad one, as if the aim is to make more money, then they can release the classes and most skin options and sell loads before the playerbase drops off, as it most surely will and already is.
As you say, the classes are the way you experience the game, the vehicle you travel with. Even if some content is far off or if other content isn’t to your taste, you can still enjoy the ride with a playstyle that fits you.
Although, I am still waiting on the roadmap to learn whether I will still play this game and if they will release the Scouter and Lance Master sooner, I have lost faith in Amazon Games for simply not delivering the same game the Koreans have and as a result, am now looking at the possibility of paying to play Final Fantasy Online in place of this game. I only sign into this game for log-in rewards and I can’t see Amazon Games delivering on this one.

Classes aren’t content, they fuel what’s already there. Every step of the way they’re acting like player’s decisions aren’t based off of what they know KR has.

They should’ve released all of them yesterday.
