Class Skill Name Changes that were not Documented

So we just got a patch and no where in the notes is there documentation on skill name changes:

War Dancer is my main class and I have noticed that Sleeping Ascent Celebration is now
called Sweeping Hidden Dragon the same appears true for Striker.

My concern is not so much the name change as it is a good move but the lack of communication around these changes.

Could a list of all the skill name changes in this most recent patch please be shared?

Interesting, I’ll ask the team about this one.

Soulfist heavenly squash was changed to Celestial Palm. I made a post about it as well, not sure it got a response though.

I wonder if it was part of the line about various localization fixes.

Various localization fixes is a little vague to cover renaming of multiple skills across multiple classes.

Furthermore, things like the word “Debuff” was changed to “Status Ailment”, which irks me to no end. Out of all the things to change including improper use of pronouns and typos, changing a very common word used in games to describe negative effects to ‘status ailment’? Really? I’m quite disappointed by the localization ‘fixes’ from this patch.

I don’t disagree, I was just pondering that that may be the justification in their minds.

did it change all debuffs to be called status ailments or did they only change the debuffs that count as cc and are affected by expertise (electrocute, stun, earthquake, freeze)?

because i think it’d be a good change if they finally had a different terminology for those ingame so people don’t get confused about things like the bard guardian tune tripod not blocking a bleed or slow.

Hey everyone, I have confirmed with the localization team that the only class skill name changes were on the Martial Artist class to better theme them. I am working to get a full list to cut down on any confusion.

Appreciate the feedback as always!

Striker’s “Violent Tiger” was turned to “Vicious Tiger Dance” which imo is a worser title considering Striker’s identity revolves around being an explosive Tiger which the original was very fitting as the skill was very swift and clean and the original was probably the best fitting for that skill. Same with Storm Dragon Awakening > Storm Dragon Kick.

Glaiviers got a change in the skill name from Vault (which is precisely what they were doing) to THORN JAB. What thorn? And what Jab?? The localization team is doing some disappointing work ngl. It’s actually quite shocking that someone okeyed these skill name changes since the sounds so cringe :frowning:
Really, Roxx…what on Earth is happening? I’ve noticed soo many inconsistencies and grammar issues in terms of translations, and localization and it’s just…becoming a meme at this point.
Guys just stop messing around with words! Just…the first level is to make sure the text is grammatically correct and addresses the correct gender. Then we can talk about evolved stuff like skill name changes which I don’t know why they’re happening since there are other pressing issues to attend to.

Gamers: Market relist hasn’t worked since launch.

Developers: oh!! Let’s change the name of the skills

Haha I noticed that also, Vault was ok still, but Thorn Jab is just blasphemy.
E.g. the awakening skills for Glavier is also a bit weird, it’s ok but for example on RU the bubble explosion was called Milky Way which is very fitting.

See how I remember that name of the awakening skill but not the Western version that I’m playing daily.

It’s because debuff also applies to stuff like bleed, and lots of things used to incorrectly say they would make you immune to debuffs when they would only make you immune to ‘status ailments’, which is anything that stuns you basically.

I don’t understand why they couldn’t just have specified movement debuffs like they do in reference to how the effects are lessened for PvP but whatever.

I literally don’t know how glavier’s ults are named. LOL Great point!
