I can agree with that lol, they should start moderating this rotten thing called “forum” XD
It’s a bit tricky for them, because the reality is that most of the onus on meeting dates is on Smilegate, who has to actually deliver them a build. Amazon most likely only needs like a day to do their own QA unless they have a really hardcore soaking process (which is rare for patches).
So then when is the best time to announce the release date? As early as possible, even if they tick people off when their deadline slips (which likely isn’t even their fault)? Once they have the build (again, likely a day in advance at best)? Once they’ve actually verified the build works (likely same day)? There are no easy answers, unfortunately.
I guess they could announce the release date once they’ve gotten and tested the final build, but just sit on it and push the date out a week so people can make plans. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather they not delay their patches that much.
Honestly, I’d be happy with early and being communicative about delays (and I know from what they post a lot of others would too.)
I’d also be happy with them saying its going to be the 28th when in reality they think they can get it done on the 14th, and just sticking with the 28th regardless. I like structure and I hate the unknown. I also like to plan things.
That all being said I’m looking forward to what comes form this quote from Roxx:
“We are going to see if we can provide more transparent information or set expectations in ways that feel better for players.”
Edit: I think the bottom line is the majority of people seem unhappy with this line of communication so they should try a different approach is all.
They know they are messing up by not releasing the April Patch on the 14th so they try to stay silent about it,
i mean would you want to talk to the masses when the masses pull out pitch forks over the smallest inconvenience.
yes the teasing for “hype marketing” was stupid, but its not the CMs fault they cant give out information. if we are being honest amazon probably doesnt even know the official release date for any of this. because smilegate is in charge of all of this, just like how amazon leaked the honing buffs before the games launch on accident. they thought it was in the final build because thats what smilegate sent but they were told very quickly by smilegate it wasnt. (this might even be why amazon doesnt know things ahead of time so they cant accidentally leak somthing ment for months later)
you all give amazon too much credit. being a massive company doesnt mean your going too have a different publisher - developer relationship, they had no real leverage besides twitch. and lost ark was already gaining hype long before amazon ever got involved.
smilegate tells its own players a patch is coming the day of. expect the same thing in the western release.
