I am a 1415 wardancer main (didnt push higher, just saving mats giving them to alts etc).
I want to lay out why wardancer is bad by just focusing on facts only. I did think her dmg is bad compared to other classes, but only realised how bad and clunky she is, by design, compared to an infighter/scrapper.
Here are some issues with wardancer:
Mana intensive: Wardancer skills are mana heavy. Just a few cycles of the dps rotation and your mana is almost 0 essentially nerfing your dmg. You can fix this by using conviction, judgement and focus runes, but the really needed galewind and quick recharge will be missing from the skills leading to problem #2.
Long cooldowns: Wardancerâs skill mainly depend on energy combustion â debuff â buff â hard hitting skills. This is the gist of the rotation no matter what build you go for (FI build, kookmin build, esoteric build). The cycle is long and you have to move auto attack cancel for the remainder of the duration while the cds comeback (Since you cannot equip many quick recharge as stated in #1). It does get better as gems get better, but even my lvl 6 gems cannot keep up with the cds at this stage and i doubt lvl 7 gems will make an eye opening difference.
Dmg is low: lets face it, wardancer dmg is low at this stage in the game, and with the new balance patch coming up she will be even worse (no crit in wind whisper). I did some damage control by going kookmin build according to the number 1 wardancer theorycrafter in Korea, but I still have my doubts. Dont believe me? Go to trixion scarecrow and try out your dps for 2 min. No matter what your build is you will struggle to pass 650k dps (at 1400-1415 ilvl, higher ilvl will have a bit higher dps for obvious reasons) due to one of the issue listed in #1 or #2.
Buff machine: Some ppl say wardancers are appreciated for their buff. That is true. But I am tired of comparing myself to other classes that just has higher dps. Did anyone ever appreciate you for the buff? Not in a million years. They only care about dmg and support buffs.
I am planning to swap to infighter main in the future for the reasons stated above. My alt infighter immediately solved all the 1-3 issues (shock build. taijutsu has lower dps) and with the 24% dmg buff to infighter in the future balance patch, my future is secure.
I forgot to mention that since wardancer dps rotation focuses on buff/debuff cycle, if the boss decides to go somewhere, your whole dps rotation is ruined which heavily contributes to loss of dps.
Last but not least, her best saving grace is the 80% dmg reduction ult, fist of dominance.
All of the martial artist classes underperform in our version because they donât get good until they have a lot of gear on them. Kind of the case for most Swiftness/Spec classes tbh.
youâre literally 30 item level away from being a dps god with relic gear idk why you just dont continue and get her to her bare minimum of where she starts to shine instead of immediately dropping her for scrapper who btw isnât getting a flat out of nowhere damage boost
itâs QOL, they removed it from their dash skill which they had to spam every 3-4 seconds to keep the buff up which already had 100% uptime but made the char a bit clunky not really though, and now itâs permanent so shes gonna be doing the same damage after
play what you enjoy but like at least try and get her to 1445 with dom fang set before you completely ditch WD
Do you know what tripods are? Maybe thatâs the problem with your dps. 800k~900k dps over 2 min at 1415 here with 1 spender build. And thatâs still shitty compared to other WDs.
Dafuq? He literally laid out all the reasons why heâs switching and gave the class a fair shake. Itâs a class that has very specific builds to be viable. Even Zeals said thereâs 10 builds in KR and we canât run any of them in NA/EU with our available gear and GS, runes, etc.
He didnât give it a fair shake, thereâs MANY ways he could have improved his damage to make the class feel better to play from tripods to rotation timing and skill points etc. And yes while Zeals said the builds in KR donât apply to us they still can be used as a template and modified to suit our gear level for the most part. The DPS numbers heâs describing are so low that it looks like bait because if he had put any level of thought into his setup he would have easily achieved 700to800k+ dps using the methods described above. I will say that he is right in that Wardancer takes a considerable amount of effort to achieve optimal damage numbers though and if your not ready to put in that effort itâs recommended to switch mains.
I think 1400+ is a fair shake at this point in the game. You could argue to wait for relic sets, but that wonât be complete for another couple months because we still need Vykas. And you can TRY to modify their builds to ours, but it really doesnât translate well at all. Having the relic set makes an astronomical difference. Having ALL of the proper runes, which we donât have, makes a BIG difference. The class is clunky at this point in time in NA/EU period. Itâs obvious that the class does have some payoff later on, but I would say for MOST ppl this class is a HUGE timesink that you really have to love to play at this point. Youâd be much better off playing esoteric striker for a better reward and more fluid and similar playstyle at this point in the game and later on Deathblow is easier to play and does more damage than anything WD can do lol. And Iâm not trying to hate on the class, but it is a class that requires as you said, a ton of dedication to even make it somewhat viable.
I already said that I have conviction and judgement. Read properly first before complaining. Which part of class am I not understanding? Sure my tripods are not all 3âs but its close and my gems are lvl 6 which is higher than most requirements. My skill rotations are on point so where are you getting the âi dont have a understanding of the class?â
I have laid out the reasons, which are fair and all generally agreed upon, and you come to me and talk nonsense about how I lack awareness? Get grip
Just because you hit a certain ilvl doesnât mean you understand a class at all. Iâve seen 1490 Glaivierâs get out damaged by people at 1420. Letâs say the 1490 drops the class and calls it shit because they donât know how to play it would you say they gave it a fair shake? No, of course not. Yes the Relic set makes a world of difference in how the class is played, but again as they have described the class and damage numbers there seeing they are doing something fundamentally wrong and Relic sets wonât help that much. Whether it be rotations, skill points or some other factor. I donât have enough information to help them otherwise I would. I just hate to see the constant slander on a class when a majority of the problems people are describing comes from either a lack of information or a will to find said information.
So all I get from this is you calling someone dumb without even offering to help as to what they could do better, and not be a sarcastic asshat about it. You must feel really good about yourself huh? Youâre such a godlike WD main? Letâs at least see you post a video of you doing a rotation and what tripods, gems, etc. youâre using and compare his to yours. Maybe he could learn something. Maybe youâre just full of shit. No one knows because at this point youâre all talk and provide nothing of value.
Well again, starting with offering a potential solution or a way to go about trying to find something for them to improve is more helpful than just saying âWell youâre just dogshit bro, go play Zerker or Sorc.â That kinda shit pisses me off. Also whoâs to say the class just isnât for them if they have to put THAT much effort into it. Maybe they would be better suited with an easier class, but maybe they just need some small tweaks to their build, rotation, etc. If you donât have all the information⌠ask them. Being an asshat doesnât help the WD community, or any classes community.
Could you post screenshots of your engravings, gems, tripod inventory and how you have your skill points allocated? (press sort by equipped skills as priority to get a nicer screenshot)
i made a dps paladin that outdps my wardancer, wardacer is just bad and a crit buff bot, but its the most fun class to play, relic gear wont change a thing because the low damage multipler of wardancer skills
They started the thread in bad faith not asking for help but with the conclusion that they have already decided to swap to infighter. Listing cons of the class that are fundamentally incorrect, without asking how they could improve to make the class feel better but saying by DESIGN the class is clunky compared to infighter. Iâm all for helping people but so far this thread reads like pure bait.
