best thing , some people still think they get better honing chances with the ancient gear , and stay 1560 instead of 1580

+19 on everything is enough to be Akkan ready.

you only need to push to +19 to do akkan, +20 and above is for people that want to do akkan hard mode on release or if you are a whale. (i think you need +22 on everything to do akkan hard so it is super expensive + it’s pointless as akkan hard doesn’t give better drops, it’s just more drops but not better).
What’s the purpose of getting to 1580 instead of sitting at 1560?
You can get 2 characters from 1520 to 1540 with the materials it takes to get 1 character from 1560 to 1580.

at one point or another , does not matter if you do it now or later
if you want to play akkan you have to reach 1580 ( honing rates does not change with ancient gear)
its your decision , if you hone additional characters to to 1540 instead of going now for 1580
i just said people think , ancient gear gives diffrent honing chances , which is not the case
if you for yourself decide your mats and gold is better invested now in additional alts , thats fine

but has nothing to do with for example
gatekeeping at 1560 will be a thing aswell soon, same like, if you have a 20+ weapon or a +17 weapon
you will see it can make a diffrence
im not saying for you personally it will
They will just gatekeep you after a few week. Just like in every content this game has.

I just took 3 characters from 1550 to 1560 and it cost each of them months of bound materials, most of my stockpile of unbound or event/boxed materials, 300k+ in raw gold (just from clicking the button, nothing else) and I lost track but maybe 25 million silver.
And that was just the first babystep. Tapping 3 characters from 1560 to 1580 will cost a literal in-game fortune.
Chaos Dungeons are like leg day, don’t skip them. You need every honing shard you can get.

Best is to get 1580 slow and steady ( and stay there since getting higher than 1580 is way more expensive). Akkan wont here till next year like february. There is no hurry. Then transfer 1580 gear to akkan gear for cheaper upgrades.
This is NO different then those who pushed to +21 to +25 with the 1340 sets. You are NOT required to push into those levels before the next level of gear reset. Just like your NOT going to need to push into the +21 and above range on the 1390 sets.

you alwaso acquire a substantially higher amount of resources the higher level you hit
in argos we were making like 3k gold per character
now we are making 14k per character just raw gold
we also didn’t have many alts now everyone is jacked on alts
i am basically generating more resources than i can spend since im gold bound
yes it does take a lot of materials but you also have to consider what those materials provide in exchange
so don’t worry your pretty little head
if you are playing you won’t be having issues
if you are not playing you will have issues
but imagine thinking you don’t have to play and still progress
question mark intensifies
this is basically me going to PoE Forums and complaining that to beat the uber bosses takes too much

if you can’t do the grind for the gear you don’t get to play the content

Theres a high chance we get Akkan NM and HM on different dates as well, so there is really no rush.
and i never said , its better to sit on 1580 than 1560

i never said you have to rush , but you still have to spend the same ammount of gold and mats to reach 1580 , does not matter if you are now 1540 or 1560
it does not change
its all personal preferrence how to handle progression

First things first i gues OP just want to bait.
Second is u need only everything +19 to get 1580 for Akkan NM if u feel fomo its not our problemm. Since Akkan gear is the Next GearScore Squish like atm Brell Gear.
Third “the real grind” its a player decisions what exactly wants to grind for what reason.
For exampel i stil do my 6x valtan cuz i hate clown and im lazy do i care missing 9k gold each week? na i dont care.

There is value in saying not going into B5-6 HM or Akkan at ilvl is worth something.
Not saying you need to push your set full to +20 but not being on ilvl even by a few GS makes a difference, as it always has.
Hope I can upkeep with my f2p roster.
Currently 1 hone away from 1560 on my main, and 5 budget alts at 1520+ working their way into 1540, but out of silver. And a non-essential 7th char being kept at 1500+ (only gear transfer).
Is this enough to upkeep if I continue to only do rest bonuses (1 una task per day and staggered chaos/guardian runs)?
probably won’t be that hard if u do chaos daily. My main sitting at 1560 with 1m shard now just from doing CD. CD after brel hard also give more shard. Even if it’s not enough, it should cover most of the shard cost if u want to hit akkan hm.

I dunno, I just spent 175k Shards to push an armor from 17 to 18 (because I didn’t want to push a weapon 16 to 17) to have my support ready at 1560. The item went ~55% Artisan
So a single 17 to 18 was 1/5th your saved up shards 
Had I done weapon it likely would have been more.
