Dear Amazon Game - This is how you SHOULD manage your game

Honestly, despite being a good game, how Amazon Games is managing the game atm is honestly disappointing - the queue and bot issues are basically game management 101 course.

I am no game manager but Ive played plenty of games to know how these issues are managed.

Step 1 - FIRE whoever is currently in charge of Lost Ark.
Clearly this person has ZERO CONCERN over the game and the community. Bots spams and queues should be the FIRST THING you would expect as a game manager - this person clearly has faked his qualification or just too drunk to give a shit.

Step 2 - Lock new user registeration on EUC
Done, no new users = no new bots.

Step 3 - Hire community GMs
This occasionally do backfire due to GM mis-use their power. Could give them power like giving a week-ban and the ability to appeal. Bots spammer dont really appeal once they see the bots are banned, they often just forget about it.

Step 4 - Create a channel for player report.
Allow player to see bots, report it, and have the GM to come over to ban it.

Done, problem solved, honestly I don’t know why it is so hard for Amazon to implement these. No wonder Amazon games always fail, this is why.

Goodluck on ban appealing to AGS with automated answer system where bots do the job.

So basically you are not a game manager nor have any experience on that, but still want to teach someone how to manage a game?
Yeah, makes sense!

Lol, your points are completely unrealistic and show why you’re not a game manager, nor why you will never be one.

To be fair, the person managing the game for AGS is not a game manager either. It’s a suit, designed to maximize profit over anything else.

In all fairness AGS is lead by a man with no game manager experience. He came over from the online book department and its obvious he is not qualified for the game studio position

You do realize the game manager for AGS had zero experience when he was hired for that job right?

How having a gm to ban gold sellers and bots is unrealistic ?

i am just curious if captcha code could solve the problem with bots…i mean it could to some point if it would be required during choosing a server. Like see a picture, write w/e is there and you are allowed to pick the server if the answer is correct - i know this is not perfect but it could help at least.

Managing is a tricky thing. You’ll find out as soon as you meet a good manager.
“I got more MMO experience than some people’s life experience” isn’t really an argument here.

The game was obviously horribly mismanaged and its management is probably working their butts off not to show how much more money could have been made if it didn’t.
If someone out there wants to learn game management and communication - go read how it was handled in FFXIV.

Well the most pathetic thing i saw in the game industry that how they admit they have nothing to do with queue problem.
And they opened new region which will be dead in just 1 month. Really rather i wait for queues than playing this game in dead region. Dead server in populated region could save you because cross content feature. But in dead region you can’t even play the game. The choices they make are so disgraceful that I have never witnessed such bad decisions in my life. They have created that new Region in a game that doesn’t support character transfer or account shared progress. So basically even if you change you server in the same region you just like started to play first time.
And they expect that existing players will start in a new region with those pathetic giveaways.

They started with 9 servers. Now we have 27 servers with two regions. 18 more servers. It’s a real shame for so much wasted resources that never fixed any of the problems but created more problems.
They started with 9 servers its like a joke. For only founders they started with 9 servers which couldnt handle even founders.

If I prepare a documentary that contains events on this subject in chronological order people just laugh when they watch. You can lecture all these events at university as an example of how this job should not be done.

Untrue… there were only 2 servers having queue issues with headstart… Zinnervale being the mega beast… but that was mainly the players fault for piling on that server

The rest of the servers had manageable server loads…

The issue was 1) not placing language tags on servers 2) not anticipating needing the 2nd region from the headstart and 3) undoing locked server a little prematurely

Even if they did those things… people would of still whined though…

The point is that - even someone who IS NOT a game manager knows more about managing games than the guy in charge of Lost Ark.

Second day of the early release i am pretty sure almost every server was full. Not in queue maybe but full. People couldn’t move another server because serverbound founder packs. And they opened 3 new servers at first or second day because the existing servers couldnt handle capacity. Even if they announced extra founder packs at the first or second day of early release this could be much more better because players move other servers freely.

Wow you should be hired by every MMO company, it would literally fix every problem all of them have! /s

Cringe.

Double cringe.

And embrace the wrath of the congaline of millions of people complaining they cannot make a new account despite them not actually making new accounts? IDK man…

Sorry, I already get reported for botting by just naturally and legitimate fishing for only a couple minutes at a time…its already massively abused while actual bots are actually thriving.

Triple Cringe.

If the same person is the lead of LA and NW then firing is the correct choice.

true.

They have opened servers 2 times at least. First there were 10-12k in the queue, after then they gave in to pressure and 15k, they were reopened a second time and now 20-25k. They were requested, recomended, and warned but did not pay attention and gave in to the requests. They made it even worse.

Does it make sense to comment on a football match if you aren’t professional football player?
Does it make sense to comment on politics if you aren’t politician yourself?
Does it make sense to comment health issues if you aren’t a doctor?

I get what you are trying to say, but your argument is flawed.
The guy is right at least to certain extent. AGS makes terrible job at managing the game (or rather its official “world” release) and the aftermath of THEIR OWN mistakes.

Not closing the most besieged servers (at least for a while), faking that account transfers to a completely new region (EUC to EUW) are not possible (when it is technically no different then restoring from backup), refusing to look critically at themselves, blaming idiotic things like “too big EU community”, etc. These are all AGS mistakes and you don’t have to be an expert to see it.

For me as a product manager in quite big company with thousands of users, it is sad to watch this (although I also make mistakes). The AGS mistakes ARE NOT the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that they are refusing to put time/money/effort/people into addressing them as fast as possible.

Dude, it’s obvious that you can comment on things without being a expert, but you don’t go around telling doctors how they should make a surgery, right?

That being said, and as I’ve read on another topic, I highly doubt that the team in front of LA is at this exact moment sitting on a pile of cash doing nothing. I’m pretty sure that they see the problems and are trying to solve them as quickly as possible. They’ve made some big mistakes, sure, we can all see and note that, but I mean c’mon… Making a thousand posts on the forums about the exact same thing every single day won’t make the fixes come any sooner.

I also got frustrated with a lot of things, I’ve also had to change servers only so I could play with friends and I also lost money on the founders pack sruff, but at the end of the day some things are not in our control, right?

Take care, mate!
