Disable currency trading

Disable currency trading.

Disable Gold trading. No more RMT. No more botter business.

Cut the disease. The end.

so your solution is to disable the auction house? lots of rmt takes place on auction house when botters buy useless items for hundreds of thousands.

I’m just as mad as everyone else, but take some time to understand the problem before you act like the solution is easy.

For real though, you can’t trade gold or “honing” materials in diablo and there aren’t any bot chains.

If you could only buy engraving books and gems on the lost ark AH that’d go a long way.

Of course they’d have to stop starving players of the untradable resources and that would probably cause physical pain to the devs

This means, to disable the ability to trade gold between players in any direct way (personal trading, mail delivery, etc).

It’s done via auctions so you wanna remove the auction house ?

But thats not how it’s done then people would get banned already. They.let u put in a gem for 5000g or something that’s worth nothing and then they buy it.

I know what it means.
You are the one who doesn’t realize how RMT works.
They post specific items in the auction house for insane prices and the RMT sellers buy them.
Go to the auction house and sort by most expensive in T1 gems.

Do you really think people are just posting T1 gems for 400000g because it’s still funny three months later? Do you really think that a T2 Epic Disrespect +2 is worth 50K?

You don’t know how RMT works, but you think you have the solution.

That’s why I’m telling you that unless you disable the auction house completely, stopping gold from being mailed wont slow RMTers down at all. Any who are still mailing will simply move to the auction house approach.

Now, if they were monitoring the auction house and flagging suspicious sales then this might be part of the answer, but you didn’t know that until I just explained it

Gaming since 1985. 30 years in IT business. Actually worked with gaming company as both in-game admin and managing player accounts internally. Worked with scammer issues with RMT.

But yeah, i don’t fucking know shit about it.

Many problems require more than just one step to reach a solution. Do the count on how many ways can be used as RMT. This is the most basic one. Then you go to the next one.

You can’t collapse all ways at once, unwise.

The argument from authority is a fallacy. I don’t care who you are or what your work is.
The statement you made in your original post exposed your ignorance and oversimplified the issue.

You are now backpedaling and saying it’s “one step” but your original post claimed that your “solution” would “Cut the disease” and be “the end”

If you’re gonna brag about your credentials, try not to contradict yourself.
You could have just moved on and learned from this, but you doubled down and now look extra dumb.

Which one is it, bud?

Trading and Currency are one of the key components to multi-player games. Just like how some people can say it’s a different world, all worlds/societies need an economy like ours in the real world. So, disabling currency trading/gold trading can never be considered an option to tackle RMT/bot business.

The better alternative for AGS/SG is to realize that they need to redevelop their registration process by converting it to how alpha/close beta games operate in selecting/allowing new players presumably manually checking through surveys to indicate when a new potential player/account is human and not a bot.

For Lost Ark’s current circumstances tho, it would be better just to lock down all of the servers for a while, issue out frequent ban waves to remove active and sleeping bot accounts and lastly have an effective registration system to that similar of how alpha/closed beta games do.

Don’t bother explaining actual solutions to the guy. He will act like he thought them up if he is even able to understand them.

You need to actually propose an alternative before you go into baby rage mode.

The OP solution would make the game better. Other similar solutions would make the game better. You’re adding nothing to the conversation

No it wouldn’t… full stop.
Why would I have a “conversation” with a goober who can’t even understand the issue and isn’t able to admit when they’re wrong?
What do I get out of that conversation?

Nothing. Just like this one…
Goodbye

I swear, they better leave my una tasks alone. They are clutch when i need extra gold to hone.

If they keep taking away things to get rid of bots itll just get worse for the everyday player. We will get more and more poor while the rmt and bots will keep happening.

Yall literally should stop recommending dumb ideas without thinking about them.

Agree.
They need to fix the problem by fixing the problem instead of patchwork solutions that remove game components.

Oh god, why did you say that. Now he’s never gonna shut up lmao

You haven’t provided a reason that the OP is wrong.

Say gold trading was impossible but you could still use the AH. All bots would then have to buy worthless things for the 1,000 gold they’re sitting on in order to transfer it to one account. Then that one account could do the sale to a RMT buyer. The AH would be overloaded with worthless sales and probably unusable because there are too many transactions going on. This would suck for everyone including the botters. But even if it worked, the bots take a deposit loss on every transaction and they have to put in more effort on the account that ultimately sells the gold, diminishing their returns and driving up bot gold prices.

It would also be easier to point out the account that’s doing the RMT because it would have hundreds or even thousands of worthless items being bought up all the time.

I think a more prudent approach would be to make all honing mats roster bound, but that would mean the end of whales getting ahead on gear and solidify the gap between the current whales and f2p. So there’s obviously a down side to this as well.

The ideal approach would be to disable trading/AH for all accounts that haven’t spent $20 on the game. No mail either. Virtually everyone has bought a skin, or some character slots, or just gold. If the game isn’t worth $20 bucks to unlock trading, fine just don’t trade or find a game you actually like.

Bot farms aren’t going to spend $20 million to try and make a profit
