I love the translation from Korean to English in how many of the words often come different sometimes, other times it’s very different than what is actually written and I find it very entertaining. I think it’s a charm the game has as a flaw and I like having a nice laugh and enjoying what I can clearly tell to be a simple mistake. In the end it could use a fix to correct and tidy up where it needs to be needed for user experience.
Wasnt one of the reasons they changed Lancemaster to glaivier the weapon being glaive, as in its more “accurate”
Kinda weird then to rename arcana to more “inaccurate” arcanist
Should have named her Tarotist, would make her name have a way more sense, heck I have a few proposals:
- Oracle
- Mystic
- Forseer
- Augur
- Sibyl
Way better than Arcanist that has nothing to do with Tarot itself, imho.

I find it hard to care.
Arcanist, arcana… why is it a problem? its just so small and insignificant.
Because you don’t care for the class, let people who want to spent 1000h + playing her angst in peace.

I do like the class and will be playing it, i just don’t care about the name because its such a tiny thing to complain about.
The quality of translation has been bad from the start, but having a nonsensical class name really makes it seem like AGS do not care and are happy to put out a low-effort product. Is it wrong for players to want their game to be polished?

There absolutely are worse ones, but they are hidden in the depths of the game. A ‘‘new’’ class is a marketing tool and to wrongly name her because the localization team can’t type the word ‘‘arcana’’ into google for 2 seconds is imho shamefully bad.
But lots of fantasy books etc use the word arcanist for a type of magic class, what’s so wrong with it?
Literally one of the biggest fantasy genre dungeons and dragons has arcanist as a spellcaster.
I think they are using Amazon Translate
Now if you scroll up a bit and actually read the thread you are replying to, you will find out what the problem with arcanist is…

Its fantasy, ppl here at nitpicking. Its not like it means the same thing in every single fantasy book that used it.
In forgotten realms its literally a generic term for any spellcaster.
If you are okay with the name and it doesn’t matter to you, let us who care in peace. There are legit explanations to why Arcana should stay Arcana, NOTHING else makes sense to the concept of the class.

Localization team has to justified their contract, even if they have to do non-sensical changes to names. Or like Roxx said once when people complained about Glaivier: “It’s because it’s funny.”
