There’s far far worse translations than this one.
That’s what happens when you use semi-automatic translator (e.g. crowdin.com) without providing context for translation (:
There absolutely are worse ones, but they are hidden in the depths of the game. A ‘‘new’’ class is a marketing tool and to wrongly name her because the localization team can’t type the word ‘‘arcana’’ into google for 2 seconds is imho shamefully bad.
But lots of fantasy books etc use the word arcanist for a type of magic class, what’s so wrong with it?
Literally one of the biggest fantasy genre dungeons and dragons has arcanist as a spellcaster.
I think they are using Amazon Translate
Now if you scroll up a bit and actually read the thread you are replying to, you will find out what the problem with arcanist is…
Its fantasy, ppl here at nitpicking. Its not like it means the same thing in every single fantasy book that used it.
In forgotten realms its literally a generic term for any spellcaster.
If you are okay with the name and it doesn’t matter to you, let us who care in peace. There are legit explanations to why Arcana should stay Arcana, NOTHING else makes sense to the concept of the class.
Thank you
Yeah and make her sound not like Arsonist but a terrorist instead right?..
Or you can go with your day and not reply in this thread, instead of being toxic as hell
Localization team has to justified their contract, even if they have to do non-sensical changes to names. Or like Roxx said once when people complained about Glaivier: “It’s because it’s funny.”
Maybe the summoner will be released as “creator”. ![]()
Constructor.
Since she fights with magical constructs.
idk why you removed it from solved then. if roxx does visit the thread, she can read that reply and forward it
I removed it because “Solved” could lead them to think that there is no need to visit this thread in the first place. If it’s solved, you know?
Well, I don’t think it’s a bad translation this one.
Classes should have “profession” names, not “thing” names. She deals with arcana cards, so… she’s an arcanist. Words can have several meanings ![]()
So yeah. It was “Arcanist” or “Arcana Dealer” or something. “Arcana” is just re-dumbo.
“I shoot a shotgun. The name of my trade is shotgun. I’m Cool McDude, professional shotgun, at your service for all your shotgun problems, I’ll shotgun them away. Shotgun!”
I bet they went for consistency of naming classes: Arcanist, Machinist, Artist…whatever. Problem is, this isn’t the consistency they should be focusing on but the ton of horrendous mistakes in localization and translation. It’s like they are an indie company. No quality whatsoever. The quality that exists in this game has to do with that Smilegate created and that’s it. AND Amazon is literally messing up storylines with bad translations. It’s just insane. Even the fact that Abrelshud isn’t Abrelshud anymore and they wanted to change her name to Brelshaza for some reason that nobody cares for. Sacrilege! Uninspired choices all the way.
Just like Deathblade, it’s a metonymy i’m pretty sure. The object becomes the whole concept. Like having a glass of something, you don’t drink the glass.
And as stated before, Arcanist is not someone who deals with arcana, or if it does, it deals with everything magical, so every mage class would be an arcanist.
I just don’t use any of the NA names they’re all trash just like AGS ![]()
I am still using Original, Correct, Korean class names when I reffer to classes also. Just refuse to call a Lance master glavier or Scouter a machinist, like wth why not iRobot XD god sake…
