DPS Meters too prevalent in the Inferno Community?

They have an official stance stated by goldriver in his final interview a few months ago.

DPS meters add no value other than toxicity into the game.

yes that was what I thought you meant, he was asked if they had any plans to implement there own and he replied there were no current plans from the translation i saw. how do you get from there to what you are presenting it as? you have any evidence of an official stance on this or any evidence of this ever being enforced with bans anywhere?

In his final translated interview his stance was “We want to put our final thoughts on this matter here, while I see that there are some pros for adding a DPS meter to lost ark there are also many cons and we feel that the cons outweigh the pros overall. As a result of this we are not planning on ever adding a DPS meter into Lost Ark. Additionally to this anyone who is caught designing or using a 3rd party DPS meter will be permanently banned and the decision on this stance is final.”

those who aren’t scared of criticism use them to improve their performance real time, those who are use them as an excuse as to why they don’t get into groups. I see potential value myself, and no effect on toxicity as the same thing happens now when forming groups and we have no meters. the evidence used to make those decisions is just less accurate

The few people who use a DPS meter for improvement are irrelevant compared to the mass majority who would use it negatively.

yes very different that what you are presenting like i said haha. ty for clearing that up

Np

Clearly untrue.

  1. Large parse data shows what classes are under or overperforming for balance.
  2. Seeing your damage breakdown will help you prioritize abilities for a better rotation.
  3. Seeing party damage breakdown can help raid leaders evenly distribute the dps for encounters like vykas gate 1.

There isn’t anything untrue about my statement.

I just listed 3 examples off the top of my head.

What you listed doesn’t make anything I said untrue, Sure some people can use a dps meter in a good way that’s great. That doesn’t change the fact that the majority of players would use it negatively as in to flame other people and be toxic towards others. What I said is not untrue in the slightest.

  1. its not negative or toxic you aren’t entitled to a group spot for any reason, and these same things you call toxic happen right now without meters, just more bad decisions are made, ask a good floorslinger lol. find one you mesh with and avoid the ones you don’t. this isn’t a meter issue imo. and 2) I was only replying to the “no value and toxicity” statement to point out the value, I really have no thoughts if its worth it or not because I usually follow guides made with the info gathered from meters anyway, I look for criticism on myself to improve, and I don’t see not getting a group spot as toxicity, so it makes no difference to me personally

From the first line of your post the rest is irrelevant is it is already wrong.

that’s a pretty toxic thing to say bud xD

“Dps meters provide no benefit”

30 seconds later

“Ok dps meters provide some benefit.”

what makes people think a group has to take you even if its in their best interest? that’s some heavy entitlement there haha

Pls where are talking about inferno, its outfresh in our region…
Most people dont know how to min max every bit of dmg yet, so if u have 1-2 underperformers im pretty sure valtan will go bezerk.
Nobody asks for dmg meter out of inferno mode because hard/normal is mickey mouse content anyway, pls get outta here
And in case we had dmg meter why would u want to teach someone how to minmax dmg anyway when u just can take another Person.
In a static it is normal to teach of course, but if ucant dps or properly support u should practice first before trying to get carried in inferno modes…
No need to be ashamed and not toxic, just 100% real

Guild Wars 2 allows 3rd party dps meters and honestly without it any kind of raid stuff would be very annoying to do and nobody would’ve played that kind of content.

In hard content it is important to make sure everyone can pull their own weight otherwise you’ll just keep failing without knowing who to boot. It is a giant waste of time.

In here I guess they expect you to carry dead weights because everyone is potential spenders and they want to keep them happy.

For a legitimate answer on why their titles are not legit. One of the key differences between Inferno and hard mode is that the boss’s hp is hidden. DPS meters can track damage done and subsequently track Valtan’s hp, removing this aspect of the fight.
