If that happened you would most likely get the same posts here from EU and NA zones. Nobody likes to be pending on a game but maints go on every online game and it will affect people.
Also, I do not know how it goes in AGS but at least where I work, coordinating a deployment isn’t done arbitrarily to screw up a region, sometimes you need people from different teams with different zones and that’s why you might get crazy times sadly. Just really hope they can sort the queues issue at least
The best (sarcasm) part of trying to explain logic and reason to others around here and reddit, is how much people re-use the word “entitled” when they have run out of options to defend the multi million dollar company that has done nothing but stick the middle finger to Europe so far
If I learned anything from all the madness that was NW forums since start to January where I left, is that AGS is not Amazon and they don’t have the unlimited budget people seem to believe do.
They also seem to have um… way too many vacants.
Also, there’s been a couple maints where it hits me right after I end work, so is not really always on normal times. It is also release week and they are bound to need to address critical stuff asap which would require downtime.
Handling servers on ideal times to not affect a client might be done with some tool they don’t have available or they have for way different software than a game (Again, because with NW it was the same) but I agree they really need to find a way to, as a bare minimum, deal with the queues issue as soon as possible.
I know it doesn’t helps but maybe queues can get easier before the new region appears. Honestly, I’m finding the game extremely bland and boring so far others might find it that way and just move on
But another example, if my timezone is NA and they want me to deploy something, I’m scheduling it during this hours. Unless they paid me really well to deploy something in a different schedule or it was previously done by someone in the team, I wouldn’t get the time by then.
There’s many things that can be the reason. Doing it intentionally to screw over someone, I doubt that is. If anything, the best request would be to ask for them to work on some tool to deploy updates on different times.
Just imagine being a dev ending your shift happy to get improvements to the incoming region and see the overwhelming negativity for a maintenance where your work was being pushed forward and saying you chose this just to screw them.
From my part, the maintenance can last the whole day. 8 hours I am at work, 1 hour I spend on the way to work/home, and 5 hours I wait in a queue. What’s the point in complaining about maintenances when even without one, you can’t play the game?
No. I’m sorry. You work in IT and system infrastructure. It is common practice to have to work at odd-hours to deploy fixes.
I can even point to this post which highlights this point:
And question: I take it you didn’t play New World? Because if you did, then I’m at a loss for wrods because its the exact same type of bs happening here.
AGS proving themselves incapable of managing an international playerbase. My 2C would be to have them stick to NA only at this point.
Absolutely USELESS.
As people have stated, other games and industies would work around day and night cycles.
Wouldn’t 2am EU time not be a good time for maintanance?
