I have a friend who is notoriously bad at video games. Uses abilities at wrong times, stands in fire, etc. Still, he’s a right good mate and he wants to play.
What would be the easiest class for him to play?
Berzerker probably.

I’d say all classes are easily playable, but Berserker is pretty slow pace.

I’d say gunslinger is hardest, so definitely don’t make that one

Ranged classes are pretty tame. Sharpshooter and Sorceress both pack a punch and are very mobile.

Deadeye is the hardest … not gunslinger.
Mayhem zerker, Demonhunter, paladin.

Mayhem zerker definitely. Paladin is far from easy once you start getting into raids. Notnone id recommend.
So I consider myself to be like your mate in LA and am maining death blade. That said, I’m an experienced raider in other games and am an avid POE player. I just didn’t want the homework, rush to end game, min-max experience in LA. Just ultra casual, stress-free fun without worrying about ruining someone else’s experience since I want an organic experience. So, I think it depends on his intent.
In the grand scheme, Im not far into the game (in Arthetine) but have yet to encounter anything I couldn’t clear or caused death. I’ve button smashed my way through all the dungeons, solo, on hard, as encountered in the quest chain. I’ve found the play to be satisfying and overall enjoyable as things melt using only six of the available skills and no real interaction with other systems (cards, engravings). Some boss fights have taken awhile solo but kiting and the generous amount of healing potions has got me through death free with only button mashing and a basic understanding of when to hit a few skills in specific situations. My playstyle has been nothing short of messy. That said, I haven’t hit end game so this experience may not carry through or could get better as I decide to spend time learning and using systems and less time exploring.
I generally play ranged classes, so this was a major divergence in play for me and am really enjoying it. It has high attack speed and has incredible mobility, so with little effort, I can stand in the fire but still escape quickly when necessary. There are also the potential for two group buffs.
I also have a barely out of the gate Sorc and while the visuals of the attacks are crazy entertaining and the playstyle familiar, I just don’t enjoy it as much. Maybe that improves in endgame content.
Sorcerer and Gunslinger IMO.
imo any. pick whatever they are interested in and learn. game is meant to have fun not just play whatever class is “easy” especially if you don’t like how it plays or looks. don’t worry about not being good hell im not even that good and i still get things done. i’ve died quite a few times mainly from those world bosses as they 1 shot me without even knowing but outside of that yea i’ve invested about 90 hours now and getting better. i picked a paladin due to mage being gender locked.
i’ve played mmorpg’s for MANY years and like the support classes. is it easy? idk but idc i enjoy it and that is all that matters to me.

Have multiple lvl 50 alts I can definetly say Mayhem berzerk is not the easiest like many players here said, usually rdps like sorc/gunslingler who do not require back attacks etc. are easier to play than others and Guardian raid bosses have more anti melee mechanics so at the end of the day pick a main you enjoy playing.
