thanks very much, great post.
Sadly, the language war is real.
Some nationalities holding servers hostage is something that goes beyond me.
Also, there is mass reporting if you are NOT from the nationality that is predominant on the server after you make a remark in the chat about the constant non-english spam. Two of my buddies made that mistake and are now welcomed by a suspension.
We should demand Free server transfer cause this is unbearable.
I am now forced to play on the same server with players that obviously dont want anyone else but themselves thereâŚ
Really, how hard it is to transfer data from server to server and to retain everyone?
Cause Im pretty sure no one is gona spend 100Euro more just to transfer their Founder Pack to another more appropriate server, not to mention you have to start the leveling from scratch.
Sorry the site is often not reachabel in the last days, u can also check their source the google document, where Guilds provide a list where they want to go and its sorted by language.

~50% of EU citizens cannot speak English at all. What you âknowâ is wrong.
Asta also is the unoffical - AGS dropped the ball here - German Server. We speak German here to not exclude other native German speakers that either cannot understand English or dont feel comfortable doing it (because they are not fluent enough).
The server will never become primarily English. If you dont soeak German the best thing you can do is to restart on an English server.
Nobody is holding a server hostage.
Asta e.g. being 90% German doex not mean non-German speakers cannot play there.
Also, not using English on a server that is not tagged English is not spam.
People can speak whatever language they want.
There is a nice sign EN on the right side of the chatbox.
Also, tell me what you do, when you go in a game where 90% speak a language you dont understand or even if you understand it a bit, you wont have normal communication?
And onto your previous reply - what those ppl, that are presumably 50% of whole Europe do, when they get into game thats not localized or 90% speak only english? They feel good? They feel like they play MMO? Probably they wont play that game at allâŚ
And this is what is going to happen with the server hostage situation, cause IT IS real - ppl are getting mass reported(just like New World) and getting suspended, just cause they advocate for using a language that is commonly known to be widely accepted.
No one has any problem if ppl speak some foreign language or hell, even recruit⌠but constant spamming like Global chat is a special chatroom for that particular language is not ok.
Imagine what will happen if everyone decides to speak only his lang in chat? How come some players decide to speak english, even that they know they are not fluent(me included), but others just want to watch the world burn?
That ânice signâ says DE for me.
And I do what I have been doing for the last two decades:
- inform myself upfront
- re-roll on new servers till I find one with a language I speak
I definitively do not demand(?) that thousands of other people use my language just so I have a better experience.
I get that it sucks for you. But people using primarily their first language when possible is totally fine.
Lost Ark is a game, people want to relax. Using a foreign tongue is not really relaxing for quite a lot of people.
Yes, I informed myself upfront only to find that one particular clique already âsnatchedâ the server out of the blue and when they get asked to speak english, they answer : âThis is X server nowâ and play the racist cardâŚ
I will repeat, I dont mind other languages - its even more colorful and I get at base what is being said on many languages⌠but to instill your own ways of communication is just rude and entitled.
⌠but to instill your own ways of communication is just rude and entitled.
You do realize how ironic this stament is, do you?
Currently you are the one trying to force people to use a language the either cannot or dont want to use just so you feel better.
There are no English servers for Lost Ark. People using whatever language they want is the default. And there is absolutly nothing wrong with it.
English is also just one language in the EU. And it doesnt even have the most native speakers (its not even close). Dont expect people to use it.
Just pick a server where your first or second language is dominant and enjoy the game.
There is a huge difference - I dont force the usage of my native language and me and my buds dont spam and overtake the chat, while pretending to be victims.
Its not about me or anyone else with the same problem feeling better - its about all of the players feeling better⌠but I guess its all AGS fault for not providing specific guidelines or server tags.
Me and many others just want to have a normal communication with the playerbase - its a MMO after all. Right now it feels like half of the game is reserved for some particular nationalities.
I will say it for third time - I dont have anything against the usage of foreign languages. I even encourage it!
But hey, you do you; others will keep being annoyed and tbh there are points of view into this topic as much there are ppl on the planet, soâŚ
You are partially right, so is everyone else that is not happy with the status quo.
I guess Ill issue a refund or just forget about it and delete this experience from memory.
I agree with you that people should not try to report players just because of the language they use.
But the rest ⌠I dont get at all.
- using your first language in chat is not spamming
- organizing people that speak your own language so they join the same server is community building and not taking over a server
- having people speak English in global chat wont help anybody if groups and guilds dont speak English everywhere else
- not being able to understand global chat is not a big issue, it doesnt contain much usefull information anyways
Nobody wants to see the world burn. People just want to play the game.
And, when it comes to German in particular: It is the most common first languague in the EU and has almost as many soeakers as English.
French and Spanish also have a ton of native speakers.
And all of three of them have a localized Lost Ark client for a good reason.
Not having 2-3 German and 1-2 French and Spanish servers was a fuckup by AGS. You cannot not have dedicated servers if 70% of you players speak a language other than English.
Agree But also
âEnglish is still the most spoken language in the EU by far, with German now spoken by 36% of citizens and French spoken by 29% of the EUâs new smaller population of 446 million people. Italian comes fourth at 18%, followed by 17% for Spanish.â
Still they should follow Blizzards Lead and provide servers for The most populous languages.
Well, AGS did the same thing as with New World and they knew what was coming⌠Takin in fact how poorly they handled that game, its no surprise this one is flawed by such an elementary issue at launch.
Kinda agree with your points to an extent and personally Im fine with them, till the point what you describe is pretty chill and relaxedâŚ
Sadly, this isnt the actual case ingame. I heard of 3 sided lang wars on some server, where German, Spanish and English are all over each other and its freaking hectic.
Community building is great, but as I said - Global chat is being used for everydayâs talk and the spam is immense, trust me.
I do agree Global chat is mostly useless, but still not being able to see a single word that you can understand from the last 50 messages in it is quite staggering.
You mentioned groups and guilds using their own language and thats perfectly fine! This is what I also advocate - use it in guild chat, whispers, make a room etcâŚ
After all, thank you for the debate! It was productive at least for me and at least discouraged me from totally quitting! Definitely gona try and be more chill with this situation, but it wouldve been awesome if the problem wasnt existing. We cant do anything anyway, except crying here in forums
Well, tbh I agree with almost everything you said, at least for me there should be some info which is preferred language on each server. I went to Sien as it wasnât claimed by any language anywhere I read. Now I see only german language. I mostly donât pay attention to global chat but also sometimes it just feels I play mmo and not single player game. I donât mind ppl playing on international servers but give us english servers!!!
What servers are currently english speaking only?
At Zinnervale, Kadan and Thirain you cannot create new char if its first time logging in. (A friend of mine told me that)
The 3 you mentioned are the ones closest to being English only.
The rest basically 100% non-English or mixed.
At least based on the current data found on reddit, discord, spreadsheets and this forum.
Ty for info, can you or anyone else, confirm that totally new players canât create chars on Zinnervale, Kadan and Thirain?
Havenât tried or heard of that yet (but also I was asleep for the last 6h).
Part of me really hopes that thatâs the case cause otherwise I wonât be logging off this game for the next week so I can play at least 2-3h a day after full launch.
If character creation locks are a thing pleas lock Asta as well.
I want my sister to play with me on 11⌠if she canât create a new char on Thirain then that sux big time!
