Eu server language issue!

Hello guys I start levelling Neria I claimed all my benefits from the packs, but suddenly I saw everybody is speaking Polish or Italian. There were no tags for which server is on what language area. So how I can know which server is English speaking based. And how I can transfer if this is even possible? Don’t want to end up in server with people who speak their own language and to be very hard to play in future. We are like 3 people at the moment friends who end up in this situation. We will be glad if someone from the staff is able to help us! Thank you!!!

All streamers from Poland playing on Neria.

Dude, this has been stated so many times that you need to be certain you want to be on that server before you claim.

Devs even made a post earlier a few days ago about how the communites language spread is looking.

I am sorry but this could have been avoided with minimal research and reading.

Yep, I specifically posted that I was not going to buy any founder’s pack because of the language situation AGS has created.

There are no server transfers. The pack is bound to the server if you open it.

It’s been discussed ad nauseum. Everyone knows it sucks.

Same problem here. Not been reading too much about the game and just picked a server. Seems my server choice was bad. took the Wei server and it’s swarmed with Spanish people. Opened my Silver box on the server but still thinking if I should switch server…

Feel free to switch servers, but your founder’s pack will remain on Wei.

Can’t I just refund it on steam and buy it again? haha

I agree, this is a problem that could have been avoided if one had the foresight to assume that there would be such an abysmal language disparity as there is now.

However, if it is fair to say that consumers should have the foresight about exactly this issue, shouldn’t it be fair to say the developers can too?

This forum is there to speak about the game, both for praise and for critique. If you take a look at the engagement on this forum as whole, you’ll see that the request for oceanic servers is #1, and this very issue is the second biggest issue people have with this game as of right now. I’d argue that goes a long way towards making it a valid criticism.

If a consumer is expected, before picking an unlabeled server, to know that only 2 out of 9 of those servers are english speaking servers, then I think developers who study the field can be expected to label their servers if they’re aware of the problem. I don’t know that they were aware of the problem, but I’m taking your own word for it.

I’ve played mmos most of my life, and most of them have had servers and clients designated for certain languages. When there wasn’t official segregation, there wasn’t anywhere near this great of a majority of non english speakers combined with zero help from support.

I’ve personally swapped server and left my founder pack behind on a server I’ll no longer play on. It was my own mistake. But I can’t help but feel like it’s an issue that just as easily could have been avoided by having server language labels.

You cannot expect a customer to read some forums that’s outside of the game for info if they’re making a purchase choice and it leads up to them being harrassed by being a lingual minority. It’s ridiculous to assume, that everyone reads some post before they choose server :smiley:

I’m a finnish person, a minority that has to adapt by using english to communicate online, because only 6M people in world speak same language as i do. I’m being harrassed by spanish on Wei server because of that, and told to switch servers because i cannot speak spanish. I speak 4 languages, and spanish isn’t one of them. I would change my server, but i would lose my 99€ platinium founders pack and that’s not just right.

Look, I know a lot of people didn’t read the forums, look at spreadsheets, etc. Totally get it. Prior to launch when they listed the servers, we brought all these arguments to AGS. The AGS community manager brought it to the attention of AGS management. They took a week deciding, and during that time people created spreadsheets, forums, blah blah. Eventually AGS management finally made a decision that it was simply too late to put language tags on the server names. Yes, you read that right, they were fully aware of the issue but couldn’t be bothered to put language tags next to the names of servers because of time constraints they themselves created. Plus, how long does it really take to put a tag next to a server name anyway?

So, while you understandably didn’t know because you didn’t read the forums religiously (totally legit), be aware that AGS knew about this and created this entire situation that was 100% avoidable with simple little tags next to the names of the servers. Also, don’t yell at the community manager because they delivered the issue to management almost immediately and they are the ones who took forever making a decision about it and decided they didn’t care.

Thanks for your great example post.

  • I read about this often
  • and I thought about this problem often (to not have a problem with it myself on release)
  • and why it is not adressed better…
    It really costs a lot of time to make the right server choice even with knowledge - and I had done two choices which were getting bad when people shifted their plans or too many people huddled up while it was not good to do but they did…

By the way in the following link I adressed this very problem in a feedback - where I Initially tried to help someone get a better view (which is simply put: that he/she can’t know - knowing that you don’t know is also helpful BTW). But I added a bunch of feedback on the problem:

This feedback can help raise awareness, to get your problem fixed, helped with in any way (even a small help is good), or be a good example for others.

I don’t know why to attack the person. He she already has a problem?? It’s just playing the smart (read up Dunning Kruger effect). Also it’s a common phenomenon to say these thigns where experienced people huddle up in a forum where many casuals are not even reading, not investing the time. Be a little more kind to the people joining the forums into an existing scene - which is even only a small portion of players. Some forums for, instance on reddit, are usually dominated by players that play the game a lot and forget about most newb and less/different invested perspectives. Which makes it uncomfortable when these others want to talk. A catch22 of were less and less other perspectives of people that invest less time appear. (of course this is refreshed in a release or can be due to other circumstances)

And certainly there are many with those problems or in that direction. But so scattered around.
You can’t expect all players to read every news, duh (?!). If you aren’t aware there are millions of websites, yt videos, streams, guides and so on that people spend different time in, for this game already! It is by the way astounding. Can’t even begin to write about. People are more interested in what class to play, mistakes not to be made, certain gameplay, or value of founder packs,… or watching that stream to get a free pack. Thus They will certainly not all read the same news or information.
Gaming business should know and prepare for these user handlings.
There have been many many examples in western MMO history, not all people study the game, to say the least.

And it’s a general problem with these servers, for EU, and certain designs around LoA affecting it…,
this is just one consequence.

PS: It might be nice for you to hear, that you can enjoy most features cross server - well not all, indeed

#Cross Server (Region wide)
Raids, Dungeons, Cube, Plat Fields,
Auction house, Character name, Boss Rush, PVP arenas

#Server Specific
Guilds, Friends (list), Islands, Open world,
Strongholds (cross in KR), GvG, Life skills (professions),
Unranked Arena Premades (queue as party, this is cross server in KR)

Not a solution, but certainly good to know :slight_smile:

For alternative help check out the community discord hub, I recommend Sywo’s youtube, and some of his videos (propably older one’s link there - I don’t check every video okay? - but it’s there. I don’t post the link here because perhaps it’s not allowed, but it’s really easy to find, and really helpful. (Among many other possibilities)

This is awesome. Finally a proper game.

Godamn man. If this is true i’m so disappointed to AGS. Haven’t they learned anything from NW?

Lolz, you expected more from AGS.

Yeah dude, instead of having all the information you need while playing a game IN THE GAME, let’s do the tutorial on Youtube as well and not while playing the game. Having regions and language on European servers was a thing from years ago, the game is great, but no need to shill poor management and information on stuff, not everyone goes to check social media of the game devs and go on youtube to search things about a game before hand. All this would’ve been avoided if they made some differentiations between servers, and packs being locked where you claim them made this even worse.

Neria = Italian/Polish
Trixion = French
Asta = German
Wei = Spanish

Every other Server is supposed to be mainly English, though you might never get rid of other languages in the EU Servers.

Kadan has a hostile spanish population and they are currently fighting in chat every day trying to piss off everyone else.

Only a small portion of people use forums and even less who search for this data, as forums accommodate a wide spread of different interests. Making that data change, if it was to be reflective, for some of the servers. Making it now for some partly false.

Realistically it is never going to solve the problem to post community promoted material, and people have spent and retrieved founder pack items that are now server bound, creating even more issues as they are now stuck with another language dominated server, as they are unlikely to transfer now with expensive founder packs being used.

The only effective solution to solve the problem, would to have been to create language tags on the servers. And also perhaps tags based on gaming interest, pvp, pve, rp etc.
