A common running thing recently in the community is the complete lack of empathy for their fellow players. It’s easy for people like OP to say shit like this because it doesn’t affect them in any way. Same with any other godforsaken issue with this game. Class releases? “LOL they should spread the classes out for player retention”, also another thing that’s easy for people to say because the classes they want to play are already out.
How come having a VPN is only a problem now when people have been using VPN to play the game for 2 months? Why do RMTers only get punished by being banned for 3 days when in other games like it’s a definitive permanent ban? Why are they resorting to a blanket ban on all VPNs when they said they were developing tools to combat the bots?
Instead of simply bowing down and accepting what your AGS overlords intend for the game, consider asking yourself, OP, if punishing the guilty at the cost of legitimate players is worth it for the game in the long run. Let me spoil it for you: It’s not.
Its gives an illusion of safty for botters maybe … that the accounts connection can’t be detected … maybe now people are more afraid using bots if they risk their main ! Don’t think this will go against the big gold seller but at least its a start
Underaged players wich agreed to the TOS without their parents actually doing it are on the same page since its forbidden, do you care about that too as much as the section regarding VPN?
No. But if you have friends around the world, you will quickly find out that almost nobody actually “needs” a VPN to access Lost Ark if they have a Steam account with it in the library. Not even Korea, Japan etc who have their own versions of the game.
in the end i just hope that amazon actually try to invest more on AGS service, so they can actually try to solve the root of the bot problem, banning VPN for them seems like the easiest solution right now despite it’s being effective or not.
and for RMT, its just unstoppable these days, even games like world of warcraft and final fantasy xiv still have RMT
February 2nd, this was posted. Even then, they were telling players not to use it because it was against the ToS and using it may lead to repercussions. Warnings where given, people ignored warnings.
The sole reason for not allowing VPN is that AGS is unable to gather data through their Amazon Analytica if players use VPN. That is why the clause exists, they are now using the pretext of stopping bots to make sure people don’t stop them from gathering data.
I think a lot of uneducated people here are confused with the fact that you can login doesn’t mean it equates to satisfactory playable experience.
Yea, sure. People can login no problem but does that mean you’re shamelessly admitting that you lack empathy and dissing other players who are suffering from bad ping because AGS decides to support OCE region without actually placing a damn server there??
I’m aware of this. But I’ve heard of reports where Amazon Support has actually actively told people to use a VPN to fix disconnection issues. Actually, it’s right here in the forums. So uh… what’s the deal?
Then fix the goddamn game so people don’t get G0x errors that only get fixed with a VPN. Amazon Support literally gave a perfectly good solution (something the support person admitted to also using to fix the error) and you’re saying they’re incompetent?
Yes, because once again, use of a VPN was against their ToS from day one. Why a customer service rep directed that player to use a service that was against the Terms, where a CM stated a week before release that continuing to use one may put your account at risk is beyond incompetent.
And yes, AGS should fix whatever the problem is that is causing that error so people don’t have to rely on a service that is against their own ToS to fix, while actively promoting use of said service as a viable solution.
Again, the CM’s and the support staff seem to be contradicting each other and it’s comical how out of touch they are with one another.
Its a rule that’s rarely enforced and it was ONLY enforced as some wacko’s idea to combat bots. You can easily see that it did nothing to combat bots and only harmed normal players. Whether its in the TOS or not, Roxx only made that comment to try to save face/justify their attempt.
RMT is also in the TOS and guess what, they give slaps on the wrist for purchasing gold FROM the bots that are causing the issue while completely ruining connectivity for legitimate players.
I don’t even use a VPN/never have to connect to Lost Ark and I can’t connect because of whatever Amazon implemented. So yeah, there are major issues and the entire reason they even went after VPNs wasn’t to target joe schmoe using one to log in, it was an attempt to get bots. Which Failed.
