i’v done some tests (very high, 1440p, 144hz, performance in game set to balanced - test spot : personal stronghold:
0. normal settings
+game crashing less common - drops from 144 to 70 fps - gpu latency 8ms - fps spikes/drops
cpu: 8-10%
gpu 20-35%
1. vertical sync off + gpu power management set - prefer maximum performance (nvidia control panel - 3d apps) :
+300 fps + with drops to 220
+gpu latency 5ms
+no lag/fps spikes
-game become unstable - crashing after 5-10 min without error msg (windows event reports)
cpu: 12-15%
gpu: 60-75%
2. vertical sync on - gpu power management set - prefer maximum performance (nvidia control panel - 3d apps)
+gpu latency 5ms
+spikes are less common
-frames drops from 144 to 100 fps.
cpu: 8-10%
gpu 30-40%
3. vertical sync set off - gpu power management set - prefer maximum performance, max fps cap 144 (nvidia control panel - 3d apps)
+gpu latency 6ms
-spikes are more common
-frames drops from 144 to 120 fps.
-ghosting animated object (seagulls)
cpu: 8-12%
gpu 35-45%
4. vertical sync set off - gpu power management set - prefer maximum performance, low gpu latency mode, no fps cap (nvidia control panel - 3d apps)
+270fps + with drops to 170
+gpu latency 3ms - huge lag/fps spikes - blurring screen edges
cpu: 10-18%
gpu: 60-80%
So far the best quality : ad. 1. but stable/quality wins ad. 2 - still fps drops are visible on screen
avg loading time stronghold 15s on the fastest m2 (consumer) drive at market atm - samsung 980pro makes brrrrr
(my gf have i7 12700k, same ram like me, and crucial mx500 - avg 10s)
Yeah i have 5800x and a 3080 and i can not for the love of good get this game to run smooth. When i press ESC and open the menu i freeze 1sec because i lost 40fps right there and while running i have stutters i have no clue what to do.
Yeah typical way to fix this would be driver update. And check background tasks. Like anti Virus or to much small software stuff running. And if some of it have spikes in usage. Also make sure the fast hard disk is definitly used and working probably by testong it with some speed test or other stuff.
I guess your configuration is quite common and should be quite fast.
I think it’s almost certainly network related, I didn’t start seeing the hitches until f2p launch day, and I feel they’re definitely worse at prime time.
There’s probably some code graphics-side that’s accidentally waiting for something network related, it’s easy to introduce unexpected dependencies in a bit app like this.
Following this thread.
There is clearly an issue with this client. Between EAC performance is completely garbage and servers/client.
All other regions are so smooth compare to us. I agree that having a beefy PC and having to cap to 60 FPS so it doesn’t throttle is just not acceptable and they must look for a solution.
I really think having their own launcher would help.
The only way to make this game run smoother is to lower your standards when it comes to the performance in this game. It’s UE3 MMORPG and if you played any of those, you would know this game’s performance is actually incredible. It’s really just a matter of perspective and standards.
