All my characters are on NA East Azena but for some reason when I tried to log in to day the game keeps defualting to South America. When I click on any of the other regions I get “The region is closed and cant be selected.” Right now it looks like all the servers are up so is there something I’m missing?
Also happening for me, I play on EUW and I’m getting locked to South America (but in some circumstances I get region locked to EUC instead). Geolocation seems to be going haywire.
From other posts I’ve found it seems people have had this issue on and off since launch, a byproduct of the attempts at fighting bots.
I’ve just moved house and have a new ISP, I created a ticket with AGS support with the following info but they just sent me to FAQ.
I’ve tried using my mobile internet, exitlag on my ISP internet (with several different servers, dublin, frankfurt etc), forcing my dynamic IP to change, updating default DNS server to 8.8.8.8, using exitlag on the mobile internet, verifying game files, reinstalling the game, updating and restarting my PC. Firewall exception is added for both EAC and Lost Ark, and also ExitLag just in case.
This covers everything in the FAQ and more. I’ve been getting help from my brother who is an engineer and we’re both stumped at this point, apart from maybe trying to get a static IP which I can’t do right now and is expensive with my ISP!
On the first day I moved (18th) I was able to play normally (on the new ISP internet).
On the second day I was able to play with exitlag, I used mobile internet to connect and switched to my normal internet using exitlag server Frankfurt2.
I’ve submitted a second ticket requesting help from a specialist, I’ve already been through the very general “lag and connectivity issues” FAQ!
This issue has been ocurring for users for several months, our best guess is it’s because the logic used for geolocation has a bug in it or is using some basic logic like IP ranges to determine location. I’m in London not South America!
Hey folks, been seeing a few threads on the “region is closed” issue.
Appreciate the in-depth troubleshooting @Praetorus!
I’ll pass this thread over to the team for investigation. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the response OminousOnion.
I just got some more info for the team, been really hard at work trying to fix it so I can play with my Inferno static today even though I just moved flat!
I found a VPN that seems to be working which has allowed me to play for now, it makes me think it’s definitely an issue with IPs and geolocation.
Further info that may be useful:
- I live in London and moved from a very nearby address in London so my location barely changed.
- My ISPs assigned dynamic IP seems to be routing through Cardiff in Wales but the VPN is routing through Woodside in the centre of England.
- It’s a small ISP called MTH Networks, I’m not sure how their infrastructure is setup I’m waiting on their support getting back to me on Monday (it’s barebones atm as it’s the weekend) to find out if they do routing through Public IPV4 addresses or if they go through CG-NAT.
Let me know if the team need any further info,
Thanks
Having the same issue that started a couple days ago, went through all the normal troubleshooting steps.
I think its an issue with how they treat my ISP
Greenlight Networks
I also just got this issue a few days ago with Greenlight
no luck on fixing it. Been using vpn for now.
Hi All,
I have also been having the same issues for the last 5 days and have raised a ticket with AGS CS.
After some testing, I have found that using a VPN allows me to change the region from South America to my Server (EUC), restart the game, and be able to login to my characters.
I love how the fix for this issue where they block regions/things that act like VPNs is to use a VPN to bypass it.
what VPN have you guys been using also wouldn’t it get me banned to use one?
