Gunslinger Buff Please?

The more I play gunslinger the more I see that the reward for having such long animation locks and being so squishy is not good enough. Some classes can eat the damage and finish their spell/rotation. Gunslinger you better spacebar out.

It also the same story new content they are kings until a few weeks in and then everyone just outscales them hard.

I think they need sometype of scaling buff.

What ilvl are you and what is your set up? I felt the same recently cleaned a few things up and can easily keep up with people that are geared higher then me. GS is extremely reliant on their rotation you can lose as much as 800k+ dps if you aren’t rotating and pairing skills correctly.

Its just the same cycle. I’m 1507.5 with the standard Peacemaker setup.

The cycle goes crush it when new content comes out and then fall off a cliff. From 40% damage done to barely getting upright. always make sure i have a crit buff up.

Weird, unless I’m doing something where I simply cant do damage and the burst guys can I still pull upright regularly. May be worth asking in the GS chat in the LA discord. Those guys helped me out the other day to clean up and get me back into a competitive range.

I could see you struggling on turtles if you are transitioning super fast between phases or certain bosses you transition so fast they have DR but at 1507 there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to pull upright in all the content we have. Unless you’re playing with exclusively juicers.

Everyone i play with is the same lvl ish with probably slightly better gems but things phase quickly and this is the issue I’m talking about. When content is new and progression i absolutely crush 40% + damage but once it becomes farm in 3 weeks its just me falling further and further down the line.

Thats just GS though, infact thats all consistent damage classes they all suffer from that. Once people know fights and know burst windows burst classes pass them every time. I play GS mainly due to it being engaging and fun plus everyone like crit synergy. But I recognize I have to work twice as hard for the damage return on farm content. You’ll have to accept that GS just isnt a main border in farm content, spec classes are the ones that win that

It goes back to what Kherune is saying… Sustained damage (Nightmare, Salvation, etc. classes, and/or DBs/scrappers built for sustain) generally have the upper hand with fresher content or at closer to ilvl fights. They have longer fights to work with and can consistently use their whole rotation. Longer fights means more potential for mistakes for burst classes.

Shorter fights push through mechanics and are mostly just burst windows followed by DR mechanics or phasing. Those give burst classes their cooldowns back and they just cycle in short windows whereas your GS, and mine, can hardly fit a full rotation in, if at all, and will obviously do less damage than, say, a Striker or DB, built for burst.

It’s not really about buffing those classes because then they’d perform even better for fresh content or on ilvl fights. It’s a tradeoff. You sorta just have to have fun and enjoy your class. Be happy while its hot and patient when its not. If MVP screens are important to you and you always wanna be the champ when content is on farm, you should probably be a burst class.

That’s not to say I don’t think something can’t be done. I think they can take a look at crit based classes like GS and Zerker and possibly give them some crit damage (or a higher multiplier) that scales nicely when you invest a significant amount of stat (1000+) into it. Adding some crit damage would help adding a bit of burst for those later phases without making them OP for on ilvl/farmed content. This would help address how well spec classes scale compared to crit classes.

This was something i mentioned. How crit scaling is utter garbage compared to spec. If they were to add some crit damage to it then it would probably be worth while to invest into.

Yep or it could add phys/mag piercing or defense reduction or something as well. Minor amounts with low crit as most spec classes sit under 500. But as you reach higher thresholds it would scale up instead of flat crit % rate of increase. They could make it work something like Adrenaline too where it adds attack power. It would be cool if, the more you crit, and the more crit stat you have, you’d get a stacking multiplier for some bonus effect.

One of the streamers pointed this out. Hit Master classes do really well on new content, then the back stabbers, er, back attackers take over after learning the mechanics. Have you thought about making a Deadeye alt? He’s a back attacker, the shotgun gives crazy damage as he gets better. Just a thought.
