Lost Ark does not work the same way as New World. New World was limited because they wanted to hold the population on that amount.
Lost Ark uses the channel system which can be dynamically expanded and upgraded. This is bound to how much the cluster of servers can handle.
For what? xD You have no benefit by knowing this.
Yes there can be a soft cap for servers. But it is quite high. Even KR with 500k players have a low amount of servers.
There definitely is a benefit by knowing the cap on the server, I knew someone like you would decide to pop up and point out that there is no benefit. No need to be arrogant towards my question. You could have just not responded. Would have been more appreciated.
There are indeed capacity limitations but mostly to control CCU. Concurrent users.
Because LOA in NA/EU is running on fundamentally newer architecture, we can only assume that the limit is higher than that of other regions. A common cap on server capacities usually lands in-between 12,000-32,000 CCU. But this estimate is going off old architecture knowledge. I can only assume now that the technology has gotten better and could potentially house alot more.
But I’m quite confident that AGS has backup servers ready to go up if they experience worlds fill to max capacity.
People wanna use the number to chant “ThE GaMe Is DyInG” over and over again until it tricks enough people to stop playing to actually lower the population for everyone else to leave soon after.
Competitive new game griefing has been active for about a decade and the bigger the game, the more the competition. Especially for Any% pop category.
I have a pretty solid theory that many games would have not died if these stats were not tracked. The number of people that choose to download a game because the numbers shown are high and choose to stop playing because the numbers shown are low are staggering.
This has happened on games that use multiple launchers. The population actually goes UP and not down, but because the population on steam charts is low, people stop playing from steam despite the number of players in game being 3 to 10 times the highest peak on steam charts.
But wait, this game has between 100k and 1 million downloads on mobile.
And the fact that tens of thousands of people have gotten on the leaderboard in a single day implies that the steam peak is no where near the actual concurrent player base. The fact that all queues in that game are near instant just reinforces this too.
Wow look at those queues. Almost like it would be nice to know the max capacity of a server.
Your reply is a troll just like the other replier. You wont even respond but that is perfectly okay : ) I have dealt with trolls for years and will continue to deal with you.
Bro how tf anyone could think it is not relevant information has under 30 IQ. No way to convince me otherwise. Holy fucking conspiracy theories lol. Yes people quit because numbers on steam go down, but people also quit because games are trash.
Knowing caps for servers, especially come launch is critical information, less so than a game like shitworld but still very needed info.
Lots of bad decisions were responsible for new world.
They held onto way too many crucial updates. The update that changed the watermark to expertise and put it on the gear and such…NEEDED to be on release, not held on purpose for several months.
They really needed to not give everyone a free transfer token. This killed countless healthy servers as most people with a token piled into their favorite streamer servers. Then they took FOREVER to merge the servers, the damage was already done then.
All of which have nothing to do with Steam Charts or concurrent server numbers either. Showing caps on the servers themselves is different.
I can’t believe someone popup and say “There is no need for you to know how much the usercap is!”
Like honestly, what the hell is this kind of response?
There are more than 5 reasons why this would be relevant and good to know not to mention it would also benefit the company but oh well.
Probably 10.000/per server and 1000x per channel, hipshot guess.
1.300.000 users on steamcharts… the score would probably be a lot higher if the userlimits was better.
First of all do not forget the steamchart numbers are not the total player base who created characters in game. They are current online player counts on all region together.
Why is it good to know the server player cap? Well if the server cap is EXAMPLE 5K player and u sitting on a queue with 17K players then u can see how it will goes, or again EXAMPLE if the server cap is 50K and u sitting on 17K queue with others u also can see how it will goes. Beside this u can not really have any benefitial reason to know the exact numbers.
TBH i do not even remember if i even seen any game who published the player cap on the servers. Im sure this info wont be publicly available, unless someone from amazon leak it out to friends and then spred across the community.
Ppls are mad on amazon to create new region for EU. Ppls also want more server in the current EU region, and they have to understand there wont be a problem if we do not have cross server AH / raids, etc. Adding more server to the same region can solve the queue, but will increase lagg on cross server.
Yesterday i got DC when i was eating and i was not even able to log back on queue cause of heavy trafic towards the “loginserver” and when i manage to get to server selection screen at late night i got 17k queue.
IMHO Amazon did a really bad job on this problem:
They had the data to see how many player they have as founders, and could imagine how many player will join on f2p release and they also know the limitation of they server, and server region. Unfortunatelly they reacted too late. They should have more servers for founders and open up new region for f2p players instead. I know this would be a shity move and do not judge me cause i say this, but it would be still better then what we have right now. At least they locked down servers before f2p release so we did not get more player on our already existing high queue.
Ppls above me mentioned server cpas across games beeing 12-32 K online player.
Lets say they have have 30K after they increased it cause it a nice whole number. We currently have 19 servers in EU so that is like 570K online player at time and i guess we have avarage 5K player in queue in all server what is another 95k player and it is seems bit low compare to steamchart, but lets pretend it is accuret. So grab that nearly 600K player and guess only 10% of them queue up for chaos raids, guardian raids any time, then u end up with 60k player in cross server. Adding more server to the region will cause more problem.
Correct me if i think it worng, and this is not how it work and u have the right knowleadge how networking works in this game! i also know it is a already way offtopic. Still the server cap number will give u an indicator only, what u already can see on the queue numbers so not a big deal if we do not know the exact numbers or we know it. I also would like to know the number but for more likely to have an idea about how many players can ANY modern mmo handle since i have no idea at all and i did play many different MMO at the past nearly 20 years.
have you ever asked yourself a question why there is 19 servers in USA and 25 in EU when in EU there is like double the player base?
Btw the answer is bcs they hit server cap per region - which is apparently 25 per region and there is literally no other option than create second EU region.
Now you are prolly asking yourself… “why there is a region server cap?”
well bcs you have crosserver functions right, like raids, AH… and its made for XXXX amount of ppl to not lag and so on…
thats why on EU players are actually DDOsing cash shop and product inventory…and yesterday guardian raids and chaos lagged af…
EDIT:
i was wrong - cap is 19 in both sry
And yes there is 22 US servers and 19 EU servers bcs US has 2 regions and can go over 19
