Hit Master vs Cursed Doll

Wrong, the best engravings setup is to stack all the additive Attack Power engravings like Cursed Doll and Mass Increase so you can flex your humongous character sheet Atk. Power.

To be fair, it was a failure of understanding how the game categorizes buffs, not how math works (which frankly is the more troubling problem).

We are all in desperate need of an accurate information hub where these questions can easily be answered.

Hop on the discord man, people will correct you in a millisecond. I learned 99% of what I know by getting yelled at on discord.

I think the higher your weapon the more effective cursed doll is because its % based off of your attack power.

And Grudge and HM are so good because its % of that, It really works well together which is why 5x3+1 or 4x3+2+1 (PM slingers) and such as so good with it all together

That’s not how it works either. Let’s do an example and say you have 100 Atk. Power

Scenario 1: Cursed Doll + Grudge
100 * 1.16 * 1.2 = 139.2

Scenario 2: Hit Master + Grudge
100 * 1.16 * 1.2 = 139.2

Now let’s say you have 1,000,000,000,000 Atk. Power
Scenario 1: Cursed Doll + Grudge
1,000,000,000,000 * 1.16 * 1.2 = 1,392,000,000,000

Scenario 2: Hit Master + Grudge
1,000,000,000,000 * 1.16 * 1.2 = 1,392,000,000,000

It’s literally the same interaction no matter what Atk. Power you have.

Not the same… Hit master is Multiplicative damage, Cursed Doll is additive. Which means if u have more sources of attack power increase, then Hit master is more damage. The only drawback on Hit master is that it doesn’t benefit awakening skills

when you add more additive engravings, like Adrenaline and Cursed doll over a multiplicative one, that doesn’t hold true anymore. Multiplictive engravings will always be stronger over additive.

Cursed doll is good on its own if you have it as the ONLY additive engraving.

the forumla works as follows for a 4x3 engraving
(attk pwer * additive1 + additive 2) * multiplicative1 * multiplicitive2

or

(attk pwer * additive1) * multiplicative1 * multiplicitive2 * multiplicitive3

The 2nd one with 3x multiplicative would always be better.

ATK has the formula in his video that was posted further up. There’s more in it, but thats how the engravings fit in the formula. I think I’ll trust a resource like ATK over a random on the forum.

Can’t tell you being ironic or what… there is a clear difference again your example below only go to 2 engraving …

Did you see the post above mine that said the higher your weapon, the more effective cursed doll is?

I’m not talking about multiple attack power engravings, I’m responding specifically to say that Cursed doll is a 16% damage increase if you have an ilvl 302 weapon or an ilvl 5 billion weapon.

I’m not talking about cursed doll vs hit master in general, I’m saying the comment above mine is wrong. CD is the same % damage increase regardless of what ilvl your weapon is. It doesn’t magically become more effective if your weapon is higher ilvl.

It does and it’s not magic. Base skill damage is not affected by attack power engravings and the higher your ap the more insignificant it becomes since it doesn’t scale.

you should reply to the persons post then, otherwise people gonna think you’re correcting someone else and not the person who your post was directed to…

and ya you’re right, cursed doll scaling is always 16%

Okay let’s use the gunlancer highest damage skill Surge Cannon as an example.

If you take off your weapon and force your Atk. Power to 0, the skill does 1540 + 3075 damage at lvl 12. That’s your so called “Base Skill Damage”. In addition to that, each point of Atk. Power adds 9.52 & 19.05 damage respectively.

So let’s see how Cursed Doll plays out in comparison to generic 16% damage engraving.

Scenario 1a: 10000 Atk. Power & cursed Doll
1540 + (10000 x 1.16 x 9.52) + 3075 + (10000 x 1.16 x 19.05) = 335,816.17

Scenario 1b: 10000 Atk. Power & Generic 16%
{1540 + (10000 x 9.52) + 3075 + (10000 x 19.05)} x 1.16 = 336,554.57

CD vs Generic dmg difference = -0.2% (wow so big)

Scenario 2a: 30000 Atk. Power & Cursed Doll
1540 + (30000 x 1.16 x 9.52) + 3075 + (30000 x 1.16 x 19.05) = 998,218.5

Scenario 2b: 30000 Atk. Power & Generic 16%
{1540 + (30000 x 9.52) + 3075 + (30000 x 19.05)} x 1.16 = 998,956.9

CD vs. Generic dmg difference = -0.07%

So yes, while you are “technically” correct in saying that CD does not affect base damage and the more Attack Power you have, the more efficient it becomes, context is important here. Cursed Doll only becomes 0.13% more efficient when going from ilvl 1302 to ilvl 1490. This amount of difference is squarely in the realm of the “who care?” category, especially when the difference was only 0.2% to begin with.

For all practical intents and purposes, Cursed Doll as solo attack power engraving is the exact same damage increase as a generic 16% damage engraving.

People keep saying its simple math. But people forgot this is NA where ‘3 x 4 = 16’

Hit master is conditional. Cursed doll is not. Now for Sorc, that doesnt have positionals, I’m really wondering why cursed doll is recommended also. If your class has even 1 positional big dps skill then obviously cursed doll is better…

Interesting stuff. Good info. Was a nice watch while updating my Ru client. Thank you again.

It’s simple math that multiplicative is always higher than additive?

3 + 4 < 3 x 4

@Khazadurin Cursed doll seems to only be recommended if its THE ONLY AP engraving used. If you’re using more than one, it can be less dps because again, AP engravings are additive, some other engravings are not.

nvm, you obviously don’t watch lost ark clips or any of those meme shit.

@jtyl1996 I know about 3x4 = 16oclock

hit master dont work on awakenings
