Honing thoughts?

they send in a cute girl if you got money she pretends to like you feeds you drinks all night and encourages you to spend everything you have, then slips away when your card gets declined for more chips.

Honestlty, I’m really not sure about the idea of honing failing at all, maybe I’m just coming to the realisation that this just isnt the game for me (which makes me really sad by the way, I’ve wanted this game since I saw the trailer in 2016 or whenever it was), but I don’t find this RNG to player power engaging at all, it just really, REALLY sucks when it fails. My preference would be to make the materials less abundant, but with a 100% chance to hone when you do get all the materials you need (thinking something similar to infusion in Destiny 2 for example). That way you get a sense of meaningful, continual progression towards a goal, and not feel absolutely shafted when you spend hours farming mats only to lose them all. I can almost understand a chance to fail when you get to absolute end game, but even then it should never EVER go below a 50% chance to hone.

I’m currently trying to find time to play WoW, Destiny 2 and Lost Ark. I don’t have the time for all three so I need to decide which one I drop, and with the systems in place at the moment, I’m sorry to say Lost Ark is not going to win

Let me tell you this buddy. I’ve been playing from the day 1, F2P player I only bought bronze pack for headstart. Call me a no lifer but I’ve been on vacation and have 450 hours now (ofc with queue time etc.). I’ve hit tier 3 2 weeks ago, now sitting on 1350 GS on my main. Maybe if I had better alts I could up them to tier 3 and tunnel mats for my main but I don’t think that would be enough.

You guys released argos, and majority of f2p players can’t have an access to it. Well, I’ve been telling that nerfing guardians etc. was a bad idea but when it comes to honing, I think tier 3 needs a buff. It feels so empty here. Only thing you can do is x2 Igrexion x2 Chaos and if you don’t have any t3 alts, you are doomed. Even if I had 2 t3 that wouldn’t push me to 1370 imo.

I don’t know why you guys could not wait 2 weeks more, it would be better but now I am stuck just because I know I can’t catch up to Argos at the moment, I just sell all of my mats just to achieve other gold related goals.

No roadmap, just sudden releases, nothing on honing updates really make a player sad. If you are not going to buff t3 honing rates, atleast just release ranked season so we can enjoy the game.

Call “honing failing” what it is. It is called “GAMBLING”
And you can use real money to do it, for zero monetary benefit.
Use use real money to gamble your upgrade, they collect 100% profit, you feel better about your pixels.
Ingenious system really.

@Shadow_Fox hope you can at least on monday with the tytalos hotfix update make the honing changes and if you’re not able to please give us a feedback about the case in hand if something is going to be changed or not.

Gambling does not have safety systems though so no.

This ain’t an opinion on whether honing nerfs should be or not, it’s just stating people don’t understand the system.

Gambling does have pity systems, if you cripple someone on the first play, they are unlikely to try again. But if you slowly cripple them, they will keep coming back for more, thinking it is their luck pushing them forward, and not you incremental system.

Fool

Yes that does sound evil, yes that is business.

Rude, I did not insult you. Funny just how by adding that little “fool” at the end made me invalidate your entire argument, besides the fact that no, that is not an in-built pity system.

It wasn’t an insult, it was a statement of factual assertion.

Saying that I’m a fool is a fact and that by being a fact makes it not insult is inane.

Clearly I have no need to continue this discussion with someone like you who is trying to hide behind a curtain of false moral and intellectual superiority. Good day

Mind doing your little war in private and focus or let us focus on the core problem? AGS clearly limit our progression for cash and i’m sure most of us would like to know how they’re trying to justify it

I thought this game would have fun pve. It’s just daily tasks on as many toons as you can juggle (the exact same tasks!!!) to maybe be able to keep up with content releases. The handling of NA/EU compared to KR/RU is appalling. You do dailies for your daily slot machine chance at improvement, rinse and repeat for however many alts you can bear to grind like a sperg, and finally log off to play another game that isn’t just a glorified slot machine. People said this game respects your time, but I have a very hard time seeing that after 500+ hours played.

You forgot about some non-roster bound mats, items.

The original game not the AGS version which is here to milk your wallet

I like the idea behind honing because it feels like I can make incremental progress and not just roll the dice repeatedly for 1 big result. Turns out I’m not as wild about it as I expected because it doesn’t feel like I’m actually making progress. It’s still rolling the dice. It seems like it doesn’t succeed as often as it should and it always feels bad when it doesn’t.

I also hate how gated it all feels on a daily basis. There comes a certain point where I’ve done all my daily stuff and I have nothing else to do, but can’t make all that much progress.

I also wish my “non-tradable” honing mats could be passed across my roster. Let me send my alt all my T1 mats, etc.

I doubt SmileGate allows AGS to make these changes without authorization. Our release saw more freebies for KR. My guess is we’re here to make them rich, while they make the game more fun for their original playerbase at the expense of NA/EU.

It definitely is when you look at the honing curve, not to mention the loss of gold.

Yeah the sudden release thing out of the blue is pretty bad. They should just release the same content KR and RU had at this stage. They had more materials to work with, that’s the real issue here. They moved the hard modes to 1370 for no reason.

Not a bad hypothesis.
You already have quite the control group to test on as well, and steam charts to measure drops offs.
Now is the time to collect data.
