Run a few DB Queries and hire gm staff to actively respond to botting requests. The first one I could do in a matter of hours and wipe out 90% of the botting population. The second one would take 2-3 weeks to get fully ramped up.
Fast fix? This has been going on for 2 months and it’s just getting worse. I have occasionally gone back to the earlier areas recently and it is absolutely worse than it was back in late Feb. They simply don’t truly care about it enough to actually try and fix or greatly decrease it (why would they right now? It’s boosting up the player count figure by possibly up to 50% or more and making diehard apologists of the game claim the player base is rising as though that’s actually real people behind the rise) even though they should because it is absolutely going to end up killing the game at the current rate of them not doing anything useful to try and slow it down or eliminate it.
New players won’t deal with it when they can’t even finish freaking missions and long time players will eventually get disgusted with it once the bot plague starts to infest Punika, which it will at this current pace. Some have already seen bots in Punika and other higher level content.
You seem to think that everyone that may or will play this game is some sheep and will stick with it no matter what is going on in it. They’ll just shrug and say “well, bots exist in all games like this. Oh well” Not everyone is a sheep, especially when it comes to a game that isn’t even that good. Not like Lost Ark is some masterpiece.
Hmm… I’m sure the Amazon Games dev team will be right on it bud…Because they can do as they please when they want and just snap a finger to fix bots…
What is preferable?
-
Game full of bots with highly inflated player numbers
-
Game with no bots, low player numbers and empty starting areas?
Aaaaaaaannnddddd the answer is :
- Game full of bots with highly inflated player numbers
bots may contribute to “positive” PR right now, but its not sustainable. If AGS let them, they will soon start “undercutting” AGS by such amounts, that no one sane would be buying legit gold. Once too many start doing it, AGS wont be able to punish buyers anymore (can’t just ban half the playerbase) and then its over.
This is already what happened!
They ironically have a spending limit in the in game store, which certain whales already complained about, since they can’t freely spend every day.
Then you haven’t encountered bots farming a specific elite mob which is a quest objective. Sure, all you have to do is get just 1 hit on it to “qualify” for the objective, but sometimes, that 1 hit is hard to land when 5 bots all attack at AI-reaction-speed to the mob spawn. I won’t say that has ever prevented me from playing the game or doing what I want to do, but it has interfered. It’s annoying.
This screams I use a bot program to farm infinite chaos. This guy should be looked into immediately
You want to know how this affects new players? The price of crystals has nearly doubled in less than a week. They are completely ruining the economy and that is a fact.
Also, the potential to earn gold in legit ways is heavily hindered because the bots manipulate the auction house too.
They literally want to push anybody to buy that sweet bot gold!
Hah, yeah it sounds that way huh? But to be honest it’s a number of people I used to play with in the last MMO we played who won’t shut up about it. It has gotten me thinking about the consequences to the game economy vs turning them in and it’s made me realize that, well, there is almost nothing at all in favor of the snitch perspective in that debate.
Inflating the market with gold is exactly what led to whales and nolifers take advantage of the AH.
1000 h played … you would defend then wouldn’t you.
