How do you currently feel about the game?

I enjoy the game. I’m still not to clown level, but I’m just buying skins and such.

One of the things I find funny in this thread is people complaining about not getting enough content fast enough on one hand and then complaining about people not getting the mechanics on raids in the other. We’re rushing through three years of content in less than a year, unless you’re seriously farming cards and stuff we’re woefully underprepared for Brel. Heck, I’ve been playing since 2/8 and I’m not at 1475 yet. Yes, I cleared the cow and the garden tool. Didn’t enjoy the garden tool, but I did like the cow. Looking forward to getting good enough for clown and anything else coming down the road.

Pheons suck, but to me it only sucks truly for things like ability stones.
I wish striker had more esoteric skills. Tiger Emerges, and Lightning Tiger Strike are good. Every other Esoteric skill sucks. Also wish he had more fist oriented skills. Having gauntlets, but most moves being feet oriented is kind of dumb. (Weapons should’ve been something similar to Ninja Gaiden’s Falcon’s Talons or DMC’s Beowulf.)
The community is kind of obnoxious. Unless you’re in a guild finding parties for things sucks. It’s a job application form that has nothing to actually do with actual player skill. Then there’s people flaming each other for making mistakes.
Gearing… Having to gear based on other players kind of sucks. I think this is the only game where you had to rely on other people to gear in the way of AH. In most of the other stuff I played you didn’t have the need to purchase from others to gear up properly. You just played the time gated content and eventually got everything you needed. Not saying it’s entirely a bad thing, but It makes this kind of a drag for both main and alternate characters especially with pheons involved.
Useless stat and engraving rolls on gear. I can’t understand the useless extra three stats being in the game. That junk honestly doesn’t need to be there. Too much throw away gear and something makes me feel like it’s weighted towards the L end of the spectrum. I can understand there being some trash engravings or some offmeta one, but I think half of the engravings could be cut out and no one would be affected. (You’d have to find out which one’s that aren’t meta that people actually use here and there to find out which ones not to drop).

I really enjoy Lost Ark but I figured out their bs back in February when I discovered you could afk in Chaos Dungeons forever. Yeah. That. That one thing destroyed the game and all they had to do was implement a timer in Chaos Dungeons like Guardian Raids, but they didn’t and they never will because they need someplace to hide the bots. Duh? Could you imagine how many bots would be in Vern Castle back in March if bots couldn’t afk in Chaos Dungeons? The game would have crashed for anyone zoning in. It was designed this way on purpose for botting. Right now there are bots in Vern Castle doing non-stop Chaos Dungeon runs and no one is doing anything about it. Ever stop and wonder why?

And then the qq times. Are. You. Kidding. Me??? Real players had to wait hours to log in because the botting was so out of control. That normally would have been fixed immediately but they didn’t, did they? Again, removing afk in Chaos Dungeons would have solved that issue, wouldn’t it? Yet they didn’t do it. Again. And they will never do it.

You seeing a pattern yet? Are you catching my drift? Or am I being obtuse?

The Chaos Dungeons have printed billions of gold and there are players in charge of that gold. This is why I did not bother advancing to T3 until two weeks ago, and I am a Founder (February 10th, 2022). On top of it any decent accessory is being auto-sniped by multiple 3rd party programs yet real players are being punished for selling items over 75k because account that bought said item is dirty? How is that the seller’s problem? It isn’t. It’s another way to push real players away from NA Lost Ark.

Real players can’t do a thing about it when there are players sitting on billions of gold. Also, who in their right mind would pay over 10k gold for one engraving? That is the equivalent of a large gold bar from an Una bag. Like hell one engraving is worth that. No way. I only trade value to value.

I print my own gold myself using my SH70 + G11 but the way I do it is legit. Boss Rush, Cube, Tower are all viable for making gold. My main GL is wearing 1370 and rocking a 4x4 with no pen because a. I plan ahead and b. I know what I am doing in MMO games. Already filled up my four T2 alts with gems with saved freebie chests.

These jokers sitting on their mountain of gold can pack sand forever because I know who they are and I know what they are about. I can inspect any player and tell you if they are or aren’t legit. It isn’t very hard to do. You just have to know where to look.

Honestly for me I still love the game, however I’m pulling back a little bit

Me personally I pushed leveling my main way too fast and got overwhelmed having to learn two Legion Raids (Vykas HM and Valtan HM, by the time I got to Vykas HM I only did Valtan a handful of times so I was still trying to learn the patterns)

If I try for Kukul right now I think I’ll get fully burned out trying to keep up and fully learn 3 raids, however the thought of just attempting Kukul gates 1 and 2 on ilvl and skipping 3 until I’m ready just to get started on some horns has crossed my mind…

Also too trying to max out my Forest of Giants and We’ll Meet Again sets because especially for Kukul 7% Crit ain’t gonna do shit if I’m dead from all the random mechanics lol

However now I have the hang of Valtan and 4 alts that can do Valtan NM now, however my focus is to stay at 1472.5 and get the alts to Vykas

All alts have 4x3 (one has negative defense 1x3, it’s SH so I just gotta wait to find a cheapish piece) and Artillerist has 4x3 ready for the balance patch (Barrage, not spending a lot more gold just to get 1x3 Firepower, he can suffer for a bit and ride a bus, lol)

I’m currently now in pheons savings mode which is nice and am saving to hopefully get one proc on my main weapon’s quality up (I think I’ve tried like 15 times already and nothing, luckily I started out with a 54 quality weapon but still hurts lol)

All alts are on rest bonus for everything so I only have to worry about taking care of two alts a day, wiith a rest day for the third day, while main does stuff every day for shards to stock up on

It’s really nice to see how far I’ve come with my roster and know that I can pull back and take a break, but still do raids and everything

I’m waiting for more story line as well, I’ve been stocking up rapport items ever since I completed all of the ones currently available and Rowen will trust the fuck outta me once it comes

I still enjoy the game but inflation starts to REALLY piss me off, having half the gold income as KR we have things more expensive like engravings books…

Unfortunately, mostly this. There seems to be some major communication issues that, as months go on, still aren’t resolved despite constant reassurance that it will get better (In all fairness, it DID start to get better for a couple of months after Valtan, but quickly took a turn back to being significantly worse the last 2-3 months).

This doesn’t happen in the other regions that the game exists in, that have unique Publishers that aren’t Smilegate, in languages that aren’t Korean.
So if Smilegate’s relationship / communication with them is good enough to give better communication overall, the only difference would lie in AGS.

Now, I understand that our version isn’t going to perfectly match other regions and there are constant botting related issues to deal with, but that shouldn’t have an impact on communication.
We shouldn’t have to be waiting until last minute to know when the update is coming (It’s pretty common in gaming in general for people to take time off of work for major content releases and the majority of most game’s playerbases are working adults), we shouldn’t have to beg and cry on the forums for weeks for issues to be addressed or to be kept in the dark until the day before the update to know if more significant changes are coming.

I’m sure AGS aren’t to blame for everything, but it’s certainly concerning that the communication issues don’t occur to the same degree at all in other regions. And I feel bad for the CMs that have to deal with this because evidently they aren’t being provided with the information they require fast enough to communicate it to us.

I love the game and it only gets better as time goes on, but there are some very questionable decisions over the last few months that do make me concerned for the future of the game in the West (Namely class cadence, delays - including crazy maintenance times for some very small changes, and ever concerning general and late communication).

as some have mentioned the game has too many gacha RNG mobile mechanics to be considered an 'MMO" as such you have to treat this game like a mobile game.

If people played the game 20m per day or every other day yes progress slow, but you know what no burn out. Play at your own pace and don’t be concerned if guildies are always chasing day 1 clear for old content. This is it bois endgame and as I suspected 1st KR MMO for a lot of people. What we are doing now, expect to be doin for the next 2 years tops.

I’ll share my experience as a beta player who quit just when argos came out at 1365 ilevel or so and returned a few days ago.

First of all, I came back with 6 of my friends who joined the game for the first time. The first problem we faced, literally no one exists in tier 2 and below content. In fact, if we weren’t such a big group there is no way in hell a new player can continue on his own like that. The biggest issue for our group was content such as field bosses/chaos gates/ghost ships they do not scale to the number of players and impossible to do. I joined an early T3 ghost ship and found myself fighting the boss alone which is impossible. I also had an early T3 chaos gate with only one other player we managed to kill 4 of the bosses or something before time ran out.

Basically, I would say about 80-85% of the content in the game is abandoned and is either solo play or not even possible for new players.

Second thing we noticed is the huge number of bots running around doing quests or whatever, I personally reported over 200 or so of them, and no one seems to be banning them at all. I was questing with them from level 1 to level 50 all the way some of them were even the same bots.

Third thing and the most important thing in my opinion, the challenging content in this game such as abyssal raids, argos or legion raids is filled to the brim with toxic behavior. I do not think it is because of a few bad apples or whatever people keep excusing it as.

In my opinion this is behavior fostered by the game. Since the majority are doing old raid content for just some quick gold or rewards or on alts, it causes this toxic dynamic in the parties. Where some people are new and the rest just want a quick reward and leave. And there are no learning parties anymore, we are only left with matchmaking or random party in the find party if even possible.

I guess the summary of that last point is, if you dont do the content at the same exact week or month it is released you can no longer enjoy it. Everyone will treat you like trash and useless, only experienced players are welcome. So even if the player suffers through the abandoned lower tier content and solo plays to end game content, the experienced players will just do gate keeping and prevent the community from expanding. I guess thats why the game keeps bleeding players like crazy.

Well thats my two cents on the game

the game is bleeding players b/c the economy nuff said
Gatekeeping and economy go hand in hand
For example, Clown groups in NA still req 5x3

if you look at all the pug groups almost every dps is 5x3…
Casuals that are not as committed to make find statics will not put up with this
Also, its commonly known that casual do not raid so yeah game lacks a lot for casuals to enjoy.

The game is mostly what it was expected to be, I think. I have come and gone a few times since the release and it has always struck me as being what I expected.

It never was going to be a casual friendly game with the way that gearing/honing+market+F2P tend to interface with each other. That tends to lead to a lot of emphasis on very competitive play, and leaving casual players in he situation that they can enjoy some of the game as a casual player but not really the content where most of the players are concentrated, because they can’t keep up. I don’t think that’s an issue with the game per se – it’s the way the game is designed. It’s instead a mismatch between the players in question (the casual ones) and the game.

I think though that the game is playing out the way I expected it to do, and it will have a stable audience comprised of more hardcore players who are focused on the keeping up with the joneses type of playstyle, while casual players have been self-selecting out over time. I think that’s fine, really – the game wasn’t really a design fit, in my opinion, for the “Western MMO playerbase” as a whole – which is largely casual players, truth be told – and that’s okay. Not every game has to be.

To your first point, yes the world is absolutely dead except for the end game. This is typically common of all MMOs but is pushed to the extreme in Lost Ark. This is why we have the honing buffs that allow you to hone up to 1370+ in just a few days, not to mention Powerpasses that are given out often. You should never have to level up a character through the game, even new players were able to use the last powerpass, or can simply purchase one and bypass all of it.

Your second point, yes bots are still a problem and will always be a problem. But honestly they have done a pretty good job keeping their numbers down. It sounds like you weren’t around back when we had literally 600k+ bots. They will never go away entirely, the bigger problem is them making changes to the game routinely that harm regular players in an attempt to combat the bots that remain, they have consistently made the wrong decisions in this regard imho.

Third point, I absolutely agree here. And yes I think the game is helping to reinforce this behaviour because of how it is designed you laid it out well. Unfortunately newer players will NEED to look out for gorups SPECIFICALLY LABELLED “Learning/Chill” if they want a more relaxed experience. Part of the problem is new players not realizing they are trying to sign up for “Reclear” groups where people are expecting a fast clear where everyone has done the run before and knows what to do. The fact is, there isn’t much content in this game, and a lot of it is repeated many times, so the vast majority of players will be doing these reclear runs, and it will get harder and harder to find learning groups as time goes on. This problem will only compound itself and is another factor in why bussing became so popular.

Ultimately this game seems fated to a small community of niche die hard players, and it also seems AGS /SG is actually entirely aware of this, and has been since the beginning. This explains things like why they NEVER advertise this game or it’s products in any way, and also why they never bother to fix simple things like the many many typos in the games main UI. This is why I stopped putting money into this game entirely for now. I can’t justify it when I can see the writing on the wall, this game is going to be considered a “dead” game very soon, only bolstered on the steam charts by the 100-150k bots that will remain.

you got carried up till now, lets see you faces publics and gatekeepers

1st time i saw this game advertised, was like 10-11 years ago and at that moment, i said i would play that game and here we are today. Granted i could’ve played on KR or RU, but i kinda didn’t wanna ruin the experience in a sense.

I love the game but i hate it at the same time too. Our version has too many things that have been changed just to fit the narrative of our current generation instead of going with what the game was originally. Although i’m sure i will play it for a long time lol. Heck i’ve stuck with “Skyforge” from CBT till the game was mostly dead xD and Lost Ark is nowhere near dead for sure. Let’s say i’ll take it easy on myself and just do things 1 step at a time with the game.

1 thing bothers me for the future of the game tbh, is the poor management from AGS with our version and this, might make things a little darker on the horizon for most players. We’ll have to wait and see.

I’m enjoying it a lot still, but the gold tension and fomo is starting to wear me out, especially now that clown is released and it’s a bit of a hassle to clear.

I really like the game but to be honest, all my friends left. I started to play because of my boyfriend and he doesn’t want to play anymore. So im alone in a ghost guild and the thing is, it’s really hard to enjoy legion raids when you have to play with randoms.
Many people are nice yes, but 70% of the time, i find toxic people who forgot it’s just a game and they need to chill and it just turns me off. It wouldn’t happen if I played only with my friends but they’re done.

So yeah, Im started to feel that this game is not for me anymore, especially because Im originally more into story gaming, horizontal content and I realize mmo is not really made for it, well not this one at least (its my first mmo soo)
Plus this game takes a lottt of time, it can really become a job if you let it and I do get this feeling that if I don’t do this I will lose my progress…

I like the game but hate some choices (class cadence… Artist last…) and is becoming too much time consuming.

I have 6 characters where i think is what all should have because of the weekly raid gold limit, but doing the dailies contents such as Una’s Task, Chaos Dungeon, Guardian Raidn, Adventure Island and World Boss/Chaos Gate that appear when doing the dailies is around 3 to 4 hours each day, without counting the weekly content and other content that don’t have a limit on how many time you want to spend on (such as PvP)

Unfortunately i had to start playing with rest bonus and losing 33.33% of Chaos Dungeon and Guardian Raid mats (each 3 weeks i lost 1 week, each 3 months i lost 1 month…), that is a lot of mats, but is not time consuming, doing that i think it takes 1h30 to 2h to complete everything and then just login again later to do Adventure Island, World Boss/Chaos or others “hourly” events and weeklies content.

I think our region needs a “QoL/rework” on how it works to reduce the time on daily content and some weeklies because we aren’t that much of a grinder like KR, with that it will to allow the player to enjoy other contents of the game such as:

  • PvP
  • Stronghold Decoration
  • Character Customization
  • Collectibles (Island Souls, etc)
  • Dyes Combination
  • Infinite Chaos Dungeon (Who do this if you spend that many time on Dailies? not even sure why i’m talking about it)
  • Achievements (If you are that “insane”…)

Some of the things i’m thinking about it recently to reduce the amount and still keep the player gaining the mats:

  • 1 Chaos Dungeon and 1 Guardian Raid with double loot.
    or
  • Double Rest Bonus gain instead of 0.5 per run (1 per day), but people may think it’s unfair for those who still play daily in all characters.
  • 2x Una’s Weekly Task at the same time (2x Boss Rush/PvP).
  • 2x Boss Rush Ticket use in one run.
  • Boss Rush, Cube, Tower on Alt + Q (Intergrated Dungeon)
    or
  • Boss Rush, Cube, Tower Structures for the Stronghold
  • 1 Co-op Sailing per day giving more coins at your choice (like the coins chest) + Hourly instead only at night and some days not having a certain coin event.

Those are what i could think right now. I’m waiting for Artist for such a long time and need to wait even more… I also want the new stronghold update that may come for us in December but i likely won’t have that many time to explore it because of the other contents… At this rate i think i will get burnout even when stopping doing certain dailies and losing a ton of mats.
This week with Kakul release i kinda pushed my “homework/chore” i’m going to have go through almost all of them Monday and Tuesday.

But that may be only me that think this way.

For chaos dungeons it’d be nice if we could do all the runs on our main for all our alts. For guardian raids and abyss and legion raids, alts are fine.

Also unas tasks are now a hassle to do on all alts. Would be nice to put 3 in 1 so you just gotta do 2x for 6 alts.

Combat: 9.5/10
Gearing system: 7/10
Grinding system (excluding weekly raids): 2/10 (fuck alts, unas on alts).

Isn’t it absolutely mind blowing that 14 out of 28 of my daily Great Honor Leapstones comes from Unas tasks, where you literally just do chores and hand in pointless quests? And you gotta do this on all your alts?

And the fact that you spend 70% of your time on (alt) classes you decided weren’t for you/weren’t going to be your main? So they’ll be weaker and their game play style wasn’t your preferred, which is why you didn’t main it. Isn’t that mental?

That’s why the grinding system gets a 2/10. And you even had the nerve to nerf Infinite Chaos Dungeons, as a final middle finger to anyone who wanted to spend all their time on their main characters.

This game released a great combat system into a trash, garbage mmo market, but accompanied it with the worst grinding system I’ve seen and that’s what’s stopping the game.

I’m only playing because my friends play. The second they quit, so do I.

It’s pretty much a glorified chat room to hang out with my friends since we’re in different states now.

The only thing I came into this was knowing the dumpster fire that was AGS and it’s handling of New World.

They haven’t convinced me that that has changed at all.

Yeah this tier 1/2 issue will kill the game if not fixed because more people will leave but the inflow of players will be zero. This issue is also what happens in every current mmo. Two problems plaguing mmos: 1. Dailies 2. “The game begins at end game”. Games that adhere to problem 2 are so easy that everyone gets to end game all at once. Then everything that is in tier 1/2 is fundamentally less exciting for new players because everyone is gone (in tier 3).

Problem 2 is rooted in the philosophy of “a game that respects your time”. It’s a honestly fucking terrible philosophy, if not the worst to design an MMO around. Could you imagine FPS or MOBAs designed to “respect the players (lack of) skill?”

If you’re going to design an mmo for players that play 2 hours per day you legitimately might as well not design an mmo at all. If a 2 hour per day player can “thrive” in your mmo, literally everyone can “thrive” and the beginning of the game is boring as hell. Just like our tier 1/2 is completely dead. The beginning of an mmo is supposed to be the most exciting part since you’re discovering new things constantly. End game is supposed to be about enjoying the fruits of your labor and getting more fruits when you want to.

Mmo developers and players don’t know it, but they severely need mmos to be hard again. But idgaf u mmo players can struggle with this problem because everytime a developer has an AMA some idiot always says “respect our time and don’t make us no life”. This is akin to someone who has a minimum wage work ethic who asks them to make him a millionaire. Or this is akin to someone who asks MOBA developers to make the game lack complexity so they can thrive with their casual attitude towards the game instead of learning details of how to be better than everyone else. You don’t even know the consequences of what you’re asking.

And the consequences are what we see today. Tier 1/2 is dead. Catching up in tier 3 is basically impossible because dailies gives you 70% of the effectiveness in any given day, people who started before you will never “run out of steam and hang around” they’ll just quit instead. New players who are more ambitious will never “have more steam and go further even if they started later”. People in WoW grinding for cosmetics/mounts. People in all mmos going from mmo to mmo because they beat the last one.

The mmo market is so unbelievably garbage right now- from a player who left in 2010 and just came back a year or two ago.

Current developers listen to their 40 year old player base who have children and do “need their time to be respected”. But they’re not going to pull in more 15-20 year olds because their games are trash as a result. The mmo market is broken thanks to this philosophy.
