How many level 10 gems are being deleted from the game?

Who knows, maybe they got the intern to do up the scripts for detection. It would not take a very long time for a team of competent coders to do some rudimentary script work of checks and balances for transactions that fall outside of bountries then addressed either as a support ticket to be looked at and confirmed by a live support agent or automatically actioned against.

We can pinpoint the nostril of an alien ant on mars and hit it with a ballistic missile with perfect accuracy, I am sure if people cared enough we could figure out when someone shouldn’t be paying 100,000g for a gem.

There is a lack of motivation at play, that is really all there is to it.

Not without causing a crap ton of bugs. Things like that need to be tested before they are put in place.

You keep saying detection but is it really detection or just common sense being used.

Think about itt for a second, someone gets 1mil and buys level 10 gems. All they have to do is just check the logs to see how this came to be.

Even i can do that because 1mil is a big number in a game like Lost Ark. On the flipside has it been banning people who are RMTing lower amount of money through gems or not?

There is a lack of motivation at play, that is really all there is to it.

But why? Why is there not motivation?

I hate when a games economy is ruined. It makes me not want to play the game. It is a serious and important issue. Extremely important.

How can a game development company not have the motivation to make an extremely simple, low effort and low cost change to fix an extremely bad issue in their game? It makes no sense at all. This HAS to be adversely affecting their revenue.

what if instead of 1mil, l ask for delivery in 500k increments? 200k? 100k? 50k? 5k? how low do you filter every single transaction before you start hurting people just playing the game

Because SG is selling you an old copy of the game and they don’t want to invest time and money into making it work better here in NA. The bot issue isn’t stopping the servers from running, RMT isn’t stopping the game from launching.

They are getting paid to sell you something they released years ago while they continue to update the current version in KR and backfeed it down. The servers could shut down tomorrow and SG would just keep on keeping on.

SG does not care about our feedback, because our feedback is about something years old. They are not actively developing NA as it’s own entity and any changes they make are just things they’ll have to remember as they patch in the future that “oh right NA is different”. The less of that the better.

They even used the botting issue to push how great the game was doing in NA. They abused those numbers in their favor.

I’m sure they’d rather take a hit on RMT and just mostly ignore the issue at large than to put a bunch of time and effort into fixing a problem that only exists here, especially a problem like Botting and RMT which has plagued the MMO industry since forever. It’s not their responsibility to die on that hill for the sake of NA LA.

It’s their job and their game they should be responsible for checking every single transaction that happens in this game. If they start hurting people just playing the game then they are being incomptent idiots.

yeah good luck finding any game in existence that does this. l don’t think you realize how many transactions happen every second that would take time to trace back to find the source gold

I mean there are transaction logs and no reason offline reporting couldn’t be setup to track and identify transactions and trace gold by ID. The ability to do this and not impact the players at all is possible, but unlikely.

This is very simple too. Nothing really changes. Just save a very small text file of information of how much gold they have received from ppl and once it breaks through w/e threshold makes sense in the games current economy do the check on the gold seller accounts then delete the total gold if the accounts were bot looking. Make it like 10k gold in our current economy. Have a window of time for how long it considers the total gold sent (7 days). Only consider the total gold sent in the past 7 days when checking if the 10k threshold has been broken.

This way no one can get a large amount of gold before it is instantly deleted. Someone getting 9k gold before it is deleted won’t ruin the economy. If they do it multiple times then ban the buyer.

which would only work if

  1. the source gold came from a bot that already got banned. source gold from a bot thats still active wouldn’t be flagged.
  2. individual gold is stored with an actual item id and accumulated things like gold more often than not doesn’t have its own unique item id.

Yes you likely are right, but again this just returns to a lack of motivation.

At the end of the day LA is a controlled and contained environment. These problems are just numbers in a database. Not everything is black and white, but even us the players only getting front end knowledge can see glaring loop holes in the systems right in front of us since launch that still exist now?

Did they resolve those? Nah, they put a 3 day hold on buyin gold so you can’t cheat them with a refund instead. As I say, motivation plays a key role in why these problems have been and continue to be as bad as they are.

its more along the answer being the magic algorithm that simply doesn’t exist. sure they can filter every transaction big and small but if they were capable of determining source gold’s legitimacy before the ban, they’re also capable of banning the bot within seconds of it being online

For sure but you aren’t exactly solving time travel here.

You hire a small team of developers and say this is your problem to fix and it would get fixed. The algorithm would get written. The problem isn’t that the magic algorithm doesn’t exist, it’s that nobody cares enough to look for it right now. This is mostly about RMT, botting on the other hand you have seen some great strides in dealing with.

You have full control over every aspect of the problem, it’s your source code. You can make the problem go away, but it would cost time and money to do so.

Mainly with bots they are a public facing problem, you see them running into walls all over the place as a new player just getting started and you log off and uninstall. You see them clogging up the servers causing queue times and real players stop playing.

RMT is a behind the scenes issue and clearly plenty of accounts are still out there feeding the RMT system if they are still selling.

What do you think is the reason for the 10 minute delay from the time they take the gold out of the mail to when they get banned? It is unlikely a actual person looked into it in that time. It must be some automated system. Why does the automated system allow someone to buy level 10 gems before the ban goes out?

do you think its just some arbitrary 10 minute window they implemented just for fun? some get caught before the mail, some get caught 10 minutes after, some hours after, and some never at all.

I agree with you. My idea is why not “lock” the gold for a few hours while this gets figured out. They are willing to lock legit gold bought for 3 days. A few hour lock on 1mil gold being mailed doesn’t seem that crazy to add in too. Who would this affect that is legit? like 0.0001% of players?

okay and back to my original statement what if l ask for delivery in smaller increments? so you lower the lock and the lower you go, the more normal, legitimate players you affect

there is no “correct” pass. the compensation was for anyone with a free powerpass which includes the vern one
