This is really getting to be a serious problem. The other night, in only about 10 minutes in Prideholme, I had already reported almost two dozen bots from various bot “groups”. I also routinely find myself reporting gold sellers and bots in various places in the game - I’d say at least a dozen every half hour (depending on where exactly I am).
Not only the gold/economy issues, the queue times are getting horrendous. Tonight, I sat in a queue for 30+ minutes on Mari (which yes, I know, is not the worst ever compared to others), finally got into the server, and then suddenly got an error saying “couldn’t connect to server” and booted from the game. I am now, currently, sitting in queue (#3500+) AGAIN. Who knows if I’ll even get on tonight to play. And I’m sure most of it is bots. For the record, I don’t mind a wait to get in if the server is just that busy with real people, but it’s another thing entirely when a vast majority is just bots.
I really hope something is being done to rectify these problems, because I don’t fully understand how this was even allowed to become a problem in the first place. Bots are not a new problem, so I’m not really understanding how the anticheat wasn’t setup to deal with this in the first place. Or why there aren’t GMs in game to ban these people instantly (or both…). 
Please, please, please do something about this soon.

I only see like maybe 10 in all your screenshots? theres millions of players. Compared to how many bots there are makes it insignificant.

It really is offputting the sheer amount of bots, everywhere! Just leveling I see beserkers blinking in and out, running faster than me while mounted, insta shotting all mobs near them…I though this game had an anti cheat system in place? Are there no GMs on each server to handle things like this?
It is beyond obscene! Never have I seen such rampant botting in any game. Yes, all mmos tend to have bots but this is way out of line. I cannot go do a quest without running in to a beserker named jajayazyzy blinking around like a mage and running faster than my mount. Game looks so cheap when this is allowed. Anti chest not really doing its job at all, please invest in anti bot systems. Hell at his point I would not mind a captcha every 30 mins to prove I am human.
just chilling at Zagoras Fortress I reported over a dozen beserkers with stupid names teleporting from npc to npc…come one AGS and Smilegate please fix this

Roxx sellers have 1 Billion Gold already. It is a bit late for a reaction, the economy is already gone forever. Meanwhile 3 weeks later we sit in 9k queues for +6 hours.
It is nice you started now developing tools but going f2p release without any countermeasures is near madness.

This was a really bad oversight from Amazon when every other region used a method of verification to play the game.
It blows my mind that AGS did not have tools in place to deal with this proactively.
The game has been out in two other regions.
Was there no communication between AGS and Smilegate prior to the NA/EU launch about this?
Did AGS not learn anything from their time with NW launch?
I just… can’t with the lack of foresight.
And now the bot situation has just spiraled out of control while AGS is trying to figure out what to do about it. And the only people it hurts are their customers.

Using a VPN is not against the TOS. It is in there as an example of the actual offense which is to use technologies to circumvent regional lockouts. If you are in the region and you just use a VPN because you like the protection it offers, or you are able to get better ping times that way then that’s perfectly allowed.
Not to mention that if you’re in the business of botting you’d set up your own point of presence and not use a publicly known commercial VPN. Likewise to point 2, it’s trivial to setup a SIP presence in a country to be your verification number and point them all to a single handset. It might sound like a hassle but when there’s money involved it’s no hassle at all.
Personally I am not in favour of any CAPTCHAs and the like which interfere with gameplay for regular players. However I can think of concepts at least whereby in the early levels there are, let’s call them mini-games, which are highly interactive and highly randomised so as to make automating them irksome in the extreme. For a normal player this would be entirely transparent since it would be part of the game.
