I am a pusher, and this is my perspective

Lets get some things out of the way. I bought the bronze founders pack (17$ cad), and I’ve spent 30$ in early t2. I like pushing content in almost any game I play, so unsurprisingly, that’s what I’ve done in LA. I didn’t come in with foreknowledge, and I didn’t have a plan, I just played how I like to play. Currently I’m sitting as a 1400 Shadow hunter, and oh boy did I have to grind for it, but I also had some pretty serious advantages that are no longer available.

The opening economy was, to say the least, volatile. You could open blue class engraving boxes and sell them for hundreds of gold a piece. They are now usually under 20 gold. You could sell accessories that were just… usable, for thousands of gold at times. Now those same items are worth less that 20g, if they sell at all. I could, and did, make amounts of gold that are no longer possible.

Currently my concern is growing, because to make up for literally 400k gold, newer/less extreme players have been given very little to actually close that gap. Yes the 10% books help, but they are not enough to make people that otherwise like the game, but can’t be bothered with the dead zone, stay.

And so we run into a problem, there are multiple groups of players in different situations, all stagnating. I’m in the group that’s out of vertical content, and wants more of it. People stuck in 1340’s want content designed to help them get to current content, and frankly I want that more than I want 1415 content. Why? Because if it continues like this there will be that split, and only one group will get their content.

I don’t care if other people get to 1400 easier than I did, I just want the game to live and grow so we can get to the crazy stuff. Either release the missing content for the dead zone, or give people the honing chance buff. No one is winning right now, whales are out of content to spend on, people are leaving or deciding to wait it out, and the communal response is so bad that I’m not sure anyone new is really coming to the game.

AG/Smilegate, if you want to keep the whales that pay the large % of your profit, give the other players an experience they are happy with. Once you’ve done that you can continue releasing content that’s hard to get to, and the whales will keep spending.
(Sorry this ended up being kinda a rambling thing, but, there it is)

This is basically where I’m at. I’m letting my rested bonus build up and heading back to my other MMOs in the meantime. It’s sad, I wanted to no-life LA for years, but the dev’s just don’t want us to lol

Thats literally what the event is doing though. Youre getting a plethora of weekly materials and a 10% honing boost with books. If you really are still struggling even after this being in the game and youve been doing dailies consistently, etc… then youre doing something wrong.

The game was never designed to be no lifed. Literally Gold River himself told everyone to take their time playing the game and to play other games along side with Lost Ark, or go touch grass, whatever it may be.

It is a salve to be sure, and I’m really hoping it’s just a temporary stopgap while they localize and roll out content, but that needs to happen soon for players who are disenchanted to stick around, in my opinion.

Except I constantly get told I should no life the game? How else does one 100% every adventure tome, collect every seed, keep 5 alts up to date?

I’ve done 3 100%s, and 5 more are sitting just at rapport to finish. I’ve collected 930 seeds. I’ve got 300 skill points and 300 in each virtue. I’ve got my 5 alts.

And still I can’t get enough materials to do a single upgrade a day just from chaos dungeons and guardian raids? Oh that’s right, because there’s more…
Abyssal dungeons, chaos gates, adventure islands…

Ah yes, this game is not meant to be no-lifed at all with horizontal progression

I’m sorry that I’m sick of collecting seeds and food, I just want to level my weapon again.

Horizontal content is completely optional really. You can do adventure tome to get the skill potions. But realistically nothing else is required to gain power to your character. Same thing with collecting seeds, which literally does nothing for your character.

You dont need to upgrade everyday, its not going to happen sometimes. Just stock pile materials and wait till you have more opportunities to hone at once.

I feel youre failing to understanding you are limited by what you can do daily to earn materials. You dont have to no life the game to do this. Literally you just spend like half an hour doing that content and logging in to do chaos gate once, etc. Time spent in the game isnt relative to the progression you make.

Right, once a week it makes sense to log in and fuck up 3-4 hones. Then back to Final Fantasy 14 until the next weekly reset.

I’m grateful for the events, goodies, and even for every other gesture of good will we get. But this is not what populates the servers. Communication and a sense of progression/achievement is what leads to player retention.
And with all due respect to the CMs, communication sucks balls! And isn’t that what makes the korean players love Goldriver and his team? They view each other as humans while interacting with each other and not as company and consumers.
When it comes to progression, like I said before, once a week. And to me it doesn’t feel like an achievement. Doing the same Guardian or Abyss day after day with multiple characters is not an achievement, it’s beating a dead horse and it’s damn time consuming. Maybe not to the “no life status” but still, it takes time.

oh yes, the 200+750 destruction stones WEEKLY. Thats +15 wep right there.
Thats 3 honing clicks with 15% chance extra per week, deadzone solved

its was stupid decision to paywall 1370 instead of 1385/1400. People should have got easy access to Argos P1, get some carrot in tick with new sets/accessories and THEN hit a wall with P2/P3 and decision to either make the grind faster or take weeks to complete the sets. It is much more likely to keep ppl engaged in reaching a goal when they already started

Oh and another thing.
I like playing different classes. Also have in many games. Until I touched the Gunlancer. I don’t want to play another class, I found my place. Which makes me think: do I suffer through dailys with my Artillerist and Hawkeye (my T3 characters which I have come to hate) or do I create 5 other Gunlancers because I need to keep up?
Well, guess this is a me problem. Most people enjoy playing different classes, I did too for many years.

It’s funny, I feel the same about my sorceress. I’ve tried others - shadowhunter, deathblade, all the female martial artists. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m more comfortable playing a female char (I am female irl for context) and I just can’t stomach looking at a big burly dude anymore so this prevents me from trying all the warriors, but sorceress is genuinely the only class I love.

But yes, do I make a team of sorceress or suffer through dailies on others? it took me almost 2 weeks just to stomach yorn/feiton again on my shadowhunter (not willing to spend that gold on knowledge transfers when it doesn’t come with ilevel tbh).

I’m waiting for the arcana class to see if I like that for an alt, but as it stands I just log into my sorceress and do my stronghold and rapport dailies then log out till I have 2 full rested bars for chaos dungeons.

This is another issue, and it ties back into something mentioned earlier, communication. We do not know when classes will be released, nor do we know when new raids ect will be released. I imagine finding a number of alts to play and enjoy would be easier with more of the classes. And what is possibly a quitting point, would become a waiting point if we knew when it’s coming.

YES! The “leaked” roadmap said arcana in May. I’m down to wait for that. Would love to see a concrete date

Yes. They have made some missteps in how they handled both the launch and then the consistent roll out. Communication has felt like an afterthought. In addition to that, it baffles me that they haven’t saturated the store with skins and cosmetics. Folks who are hesitant to spend on the P2W aspects will throw money at skins and cosmetics. The amount of money I have spent on skins in Gw2 and POE is stupidly embarrassing…

sry but the books are not flat % buff … u can’t use books on every try …
THIS DON’T WORK !

The thing that baffles me is that they have all the assets. I’m not a designer so I might be missing something, but surely skins are on the easy side of porting over. I’m just really hoping that they can get on track in the next week or two.

The only reason I can see skins taking a while to port over would be for censorship, which does not bode well

Ah yes!
If I love a game, I tend to spend a lot of money on it. Not for gear but looks, pets, mounts… the fun stuff
I think Roxx mentioned that SG has to implement skins for certain classes. What I got from that sentence is that we have different starter classes than Korea had. Sorceress for example. And older skins don’t have sorceress skins yet and SG has to create that skin first.
Guess for the Omen set it was just a copy/paste job with Bard except the weapon.

This is actually a good point. They had to create an Omen skin for Gunslinger for us, since the original Omen skins didn’t have her released yet

I think I remember reading something about the Russian release just having all the classes to start? I may be wrong about that though. I’ll concede that they have had the bot problem to combat, however I’m assuming that and skins are different departments.
