So i finally made it to ilvl 1100 and my next goal is 1340 for south vern, for the life of me i just dont get how to level my gear any more, i have completely ran out of mats and get more failure than successes. I run the two guardians a day and chaos runs but it just isnt covering the mats needed. Am i missing something here? How in the heck are people getting to 1400 when i am struggling so badly. I have had 1 success since hitting 1100 so now im at 1104. Ive also noticed when i am honing that it is still using t2 mats, should i have t3 gear at this point because i have tons of t3 mats just sitting in my bank?

Event materials basically. And yeah you’ll still fail a lot and run out of materials quickly. You aren’t going to be able to upgrade at the same pace anymore. It’s the final tier of gear.
Other sources: T3 islands, travelling merchant ships, bloodstone vendor, alts in T3, abyssal dungeons, unas tasks (daily and weekly)
Just saw your edit and yes you should definitely have T3 gear first.
Yea all my gear is still showing t2 on them but i have no idea where to find gear that is t3? I have to be missing something somewhere.

after you get to ilvl 1100 you should do punika main story and after you finish that do the first chaos dungeon for punika, get the full t3 chaos dungeon set (blue set), after that you will be 1302 ilvl and you should be able to upgrade your gear using t3 mats

I’m not gonna lie, if it’s your first char … you are going to have to work very hard to get there . Make sure you spend all the resources available and complete your daily stuff .

Make sure you use all weekly sources for mats:
Event Guardian Exchange
Guild Shop
Merchant Ships
Also make sure you use upgrade chance materials for expensive honing e.g. weapons. Your sources for those mats are Ghostships (not on t3 before ilvl 1370), the Guild Shop, maps from Chaos Gates and the event Guardian exchange. Also the event provides books which give you +10% chance up until ilvl 1370, use them a lot.
An additional source is PvP, but it takes quite some time.

Edit: I typed this 2 hours late from my phone, which hadn’t refreshed the thread since all these replies had been added, so I didn’t even realize this problem was already solved. Glad you got the help you needed, sorry for the delayed reply.
Once you’ve completed the Feiton story questline you can then enter the Punika Chaos Dungeons. Level 1 only requires 1100 gearscore to enter, and 1302 blue gear drops there. Once you’ve collected the full set of blue gear it’s a straight upgrade from everything you’re currently wearing. Take it to the Gear Honing NPC in any town and use their Gear Transfer tab (located at the bottom) to consume your old 1100 gear. It destroys it, but transfers some of its strength into each peice of the 1302 set for a “free” +1 to each part.
Also, I want to reiterate that everything 1302+ is considered your final tier of armor so the honing process becomes much more difficult and slower than ever before. Brace yourself. There will be other sets you get later in T3 that are better than the blue set, but always use that honing transfer menu each time you switch armors from now on, so you never need to worry about being +0 again.

I had the same issue at T1 when I first got to Vern. I levelled my gear to 16 and it was taking forever. Then a guildy told me that at 15 I should have gone to Rothen and finish the story there and then Yorn story, then you can get T2 gear from the Chaos dungeon at Yorn. They really don’t make that very clear for brand new players.
