If they do so then you will obtain P2W game. And people will avoid it from the very beginning.
It’s much better to do F2P game to attract new players. And when players are addicted to the game they will notice that they have to pay for using action house, or trade. The same strategy use drugs dealers. First dose for free, second also but for next you have to pay.
There is also saying in my country “there is sex for free and sex for the money, but smart people calculated that sex for the money is cheaper”. If you don’t get the point then you have to learn about the economy.

Can’t say that I agree. I’m one of those 20k. On reset days, I only log-in at the middle of the night to collect login rewards and leave donations to guilds. No point in playing on reset days, because:
a) too much traffic makes the game unplayable for me,
b) too much traffic means too many noobs and too long raids.
It’s simply much more intelligent and efficient to be playing day before the reset than on the day of reset.
So it tells you nothing about the bots again, especially when you take Vidar’s response in consideration. Those 40k who you presume are mostly players, are mixed players and bots, most likely.
You can play WoW for free to 20 lvl (or something like that). You can also play LA for free but mmo without AH or trade is just a joke.

i did pay more than 10$ because i liked a skin though (which now goes for 200 gold per piece)
regardless if you’ve met the theoretical verification requirements you should be able to access the AH
if you can’t then support tickets

lets say 100k players log in and pay the 10$ (which there are like 100x fewer than that)
thats 1million $s which probably pays their costs for 1 month if even that much
