I am having this exact same issue, I found the work around which is to go to all research available, close all tabs and look for the " ! " but that is just a temp fix, please help Devs
Looks like a new bug since patch.
Nevermind i figure it out. you click on it and it shows that you unlocked a new area. sorry to cause any attention
