Quick buck can mean long term investment. It’s not that easy. However that doesn’t matter since it’s impossible for everyone to agree on this. It’s just how it goes
They are definitely not becoming irrelevant. Prices are not dropping because of undercutting. This is not a long term happening. If demand is higher then supply they will stabilize again
Yeah that’s easy to observe when you refresh prices a few times… There is no need for undercutting mostly… It’s starts on 80,79,78,77,76… And few moments later it’s back to 80 if the amount of new items isn’t way higher than buy orders… Just needs some patience
Price doesn’t go infinitely. Even if there are no incentives to sell the product as soon as possible the price would eventually cap out at one point, which would be how much it’s actually worth, the amount someone is willing to pay for it.
I agree undercutting by 1g is lame but its been present in every AH in every MMO I have played. I also think that having a posting cap per character incentivizes people to dump their mats fast if you are grinding and farming and posting several things. Couple this with limited inventory space and you have people who are trying to dump things fast to list more things. This is my personal experience, especially after reset. I try to clear out my excess inventory on all my characters and always post the max in the auction house and market with many things left over. I feel if I have the lowest price that my items will sell fast and I can post more before I switch to the next character. If I could post everything and then switch to my next character I would happily post it at the low without undercutting.
thats how it works … either u undercut to make fast profit and maybe lose some profit than the stock is away …
Or u hold onto it and wait till the supply dry out and than either there is no more interest or u make even more profit …
Just ur choice
you mean basic economics like… undercutting? happens all the time with supermarkets and gas stations. ebay items, basically any online store that sells the same item.
While its slightly different in the AH I did just want to point out that undercutting is a very very very basic marketing strategy that quite literally happens every day all around you weather you notice it or not.
I’m personally a hoarder so I have mats to spare and never need to buy them, or sell them for that matter.
I did take a highschool econ class though, not that its needed to understand undercuttings place, purpose, and overall function within any economy, virtual or otherwise.
