So the “emergency” maintenance and extended was a nothing but a waste of time. Since they cant remove the pheons and roll it back entirely, I think the only solution to that is an actual rollback, but I think they can’t make that decision since you know the “opsie” already made an emergency mainte and lots of players are pissed.
*So the exploit was when you create new character youll be able to receive the said email with pheons,card and battle items, then delete the character and create again, vice versa but can someone confirm this?
Supposedly there was more to it, I had a buddy try the make and delete they got nothing. Others claimed they went to Prideholme some even went as far as playing on the char for 30 minutes nothing. Anyone that claims to know the exploit definitely isn’t speaking up. They just mention triggering “mail updates” or “it’s before the 24hr lock”. Many don’t believe the people who claim there was an exploit simply because there’s no screenshots or anything of massive pheon gain, they just speak of this “exploit”. There’s been no proof of people being banned even though some have claimed people did.
The general consensus was there was no “exploit” and AGS just couldn’t find a way to reasonably remove pheons from people who claimed them to inventory, added to currency or otherwise spent them.
the fact that they cant remove it and decide just to leave the pheons that is Supposedly exploited is beyond me. what is wrong with this company. hahaha
I call complete bullshit on this exploit being the cause of the maintenance. Character deletion is locked behind a 24 hour counter. Even if you wanted to, you’d have to delete, wait 24 hours, recreate and all for what? If people were buying character slot expansion tickets, then that’s another stupid theory. The money you spent on that could be spent on BCs to buy the 100 pheons pack for much cheaper.
If this would be a long term exploit, AGS could use tomorrow’s maintenance to stop the mail from being sent. There are a host of options available to stop people from “exploiting” this to get more pheons.
We’re not so stupid to fall for this bullshit. Your words mean absolutely nothing at this point because you’ve lost all credibility and the story just doesn’t match up nor does the follow up action make any sense. Just fucking come out and admit you guys screwed up and didn’t have processes in place to catch it. Then your business intelligence saw an x% drop in projected revenues because people would buy less royal crystals to convert to BCs to buy your pathetic cash grab called pheons.
Never mind the absolutely awful connection problems not being solved. Never mind crucial bugs being fixed 2 weeks (if that) later. No, it hits your bottom line so you have to immediately patch it. Penny wise, pound foolish. I’ve never seen a more apt situation to apply that saying.
To play devils advocate, if the character is sub level 50 its an insta delete, I think it may be as low as lvl 35. But 100% a level 10 can be insta deleted.
I still call bullshit. There’s a process in place probably to trigger the mails being sent out. This mail was scheduled to go out yesterday and it wasn’t dependent on any maintenance. That means if the mail was a problem that could be exploited, they could simply disable the mail from going out. They royally fucked up because I’m 99% sure they only meant to send one mail per roster, not per character and no one in their brilliant minds decided to QA that before triggering the mail. If they simply wanted to stop the “exploit” they could’ve just disabled the mail from going out. Instead, they wanted to deduct the pheons from accounts and so they brought servers down only to realize it’s a giant fuckfest to take pheons off and realized how fucked they were with people complaining left and right they lost more pheons or getting royally pissed to see negative pheons for a fuck up they made.
I have no idea about that. I only tested on the silly claim of requiring a day to delete a character. Or how some people claimed you need to go all the way to Prideholme to read your mail, while you can do it instantly after Trixion.
I had one char in trixion and I fetched it with that, then went on to do my dailies in the morning. But I noticed the messages aren’t ordinary messages like most, it was delivered right when you logged into that character.
Fascinating. I wonder why it worked for this guy but not my buddy that did the exact same thing. He made the char, selected a class walked into Runia pass, opened his pet tab, opened the mail and nothing was there.
