lul and I do with my main 1490 and main alt 1475 every clown in the week.
Finding a static grp is the key here 
It is ok if you just doing Gate 1-2. you still get the mats you need for your lvl2 relic set and maybe at some point you will do gate 3 
Its like with Brel, for sure some people will just do gate 1-2 / 1-4 and will never do gate 5 or 6.
You still get all the mats it will just take a bit longer but that shouldn’t matter.
Set 2 bonus is miserable. For support for example give you +2% more party damage :). I would advise go to 1530-1540 and do the clown. It will be easy for you and you will skip a lot of patterns. And Brel is actually clearer raid then clown visual torture 
Your not missing “that” much. Note though that if you plan on leveling the Brealshaza set up to level 3, your GONNA need them at level 2 first which requires clown. Levels 2 or 3 is NOT required to continue to progress your gear however.
My fomo for this game died with Clown also.

Missed 200+ wipes week 1 & 2.
“Gate 3 is a dogshit” as other threads have already figured out.
You are just running around 50% of the time, because it’s only mechanic after mechanic after mechanic.
It’s a fun but strange raid.
Not a single basic attack pattern from all 3 Gates can really harm you.
What CAN kill you, will ONESHOT you instantly tho, and wipe the whole raid.
So it’s very frustrating to pug sometimes.
The main thing you’re missing is a fun fight. It’s my favorite legion raid so far and it’s not honeymoon phase. I hated Vykas since week 1 and still hate Vykas
G1 is decent
G2 is very fun
G3 is very fun
No one will bother with you in Brel without an upgraded relic set. You are effectively filtering yourself.

You are missing a minor damage increase from level 2 relic, thats pretty much it. I do suggest doing gate 1 and 2 minimun though, as they are not hard by any means and they give some mats for your relic upgrade.
With Brelshaza things change a lot, by adding a new gear rarity (soft reset for honing), new mats, new boss rush, and overall a big damage increase.
By this point you should easily reach another alt into argos runs so it compensates the 1475 loss.
I personally give free argos runs for supports nowadays

If you don’t intend to progress past Clown, no, you’re not missing anything, but I personally like the lvl2 effects as it’s quite useful for clearing chaos/GR as well since you can still convert sets while keeping your set bonus level increase.
Note that the new equipment rarity change for the actual armor doesn’t happen until hard mode. The Bralshaza sets are still relic sets but are relic 1390’s (instead of the current relic 1340s). Just as an FYI. Its still a soft reset due to the change from 1340’s to 1390s and new honing mats.

I did clown gate 3 yesterday for the first time and it was absolute joke.
Get 3 people that arent utterly bad and it will be super easy raid.
yes, that is where i am now… though my main isnt 1500+ i just pump my weapon.
reach a one of the three goals i got of mine before i quit, that being;
- a +25 weapon ( current highest +21 )
- inferno vykas title
- ilvl 1500
if any one of the above is meet, will quit the game ~
or, of course, if diablo 4 comes out lol

hmm, i have lvl 23 weapon and i am ilvl 1505 - or 1507 is it ? Shrugs.
And i have 384 skill points
How do you get gate kept at 1505?

gatekeeping in this game is the worst ive ever seen it compared to other games
so just because its not a necessity people should accept you in to a group? why are you so fucking entitled to get carried? im glad i have a solid static, cba with lazy pugs.
